*Bump*

What did you guys think of the episode with Lucy Lawless? I thought it was the weakest of the series so far, except for the last few minutes. Lawless looks VERY nice as a blonde, I'll say that much.

This past week's episode, with the new viper was very good. Overall, series still kicking butt. Best on tv, IMO. Picking up the DVD set next month.

Yeah. That's it. For real this time. But it's not just a TV remote. It has the abiltiy to sense motion and distance from the console in all three dimensions, and a light-gun esque sensor that lets it point and click like a mouse... Which will make First Person Shooters REALLY simple to control...

Other than that, I have really mixed feeligns about this. It could turn out some great games, but I have a bad feeling that this thing will make third party developers run, run fast as they can to the XB360 and PS3. And if THAT happens, Nintendo is screwed no matter how great their games are.

Well. What are your all's thoughts?

I think XBox is the new king of the hill, however I don't think Nintendo's going away in the near future. They've got a LOCK on the younger kids (like 8-14, or something) and a lot of parents who grew up on it are making a return. I bought a GC a few months ago. Plus now the GBA Micro that they just introduced can hopefully make up for the DS debacle, although I think currently it's only available in Japan. They're offering huge chunk of their gaming library from the last 20 years with it, so that'll be enough for me to pick it up when it comes out.

Why do you think developers will abandon the platform?

Good story, though the ending was just plain cruel. Not so much surprising in revelation as it was "I can't believe they actually went through with that!"

I'm just getting back into Bats. I find myself a little burned out on him for some reason...probably because I spent the better part of the late 80's reading nothing but him. I find current artwork in most of his books to be sub-par (IMO). Biggest things I'm into right now are Amazing Spidey, Astonishing X-Men, and the new Green Lantern series.

So... who thinks they'll ever get around to making a live action GI Joe movie? I know they say never say never, but I'm seriously starting to doubt it.

I doubt it. A movie like that would tend to portray the military in a positive light, which is the last thing Hollywood wants. If they were to be able to make it so there's a whole lot of moral ambiguity, and can paint Cobra almost as being the victims in the situation, then I think they'd make it.

While I'm not a die-hard Supes fan, I am a huge comics fan. I will pay for the trailer, then leave. Although, it seems that after the first couple of days the sites like Dark Horizons and Apple seem like they get the trailers anyway.

Campbell rules, hands down. And doesn't seem to take himself too seriously, which is a good thing.

They're talking about Army of Darkness 4, but I hope they don't wait too long. He's starting to show his age.

Isn't this one of those things where they released "Army of Darkness" (technically Evil Dead 3, which would make another installment Evil Dead 4) at the wrong time (February instead of summer) resulting in not having enough of an audience available?

Hmmmm...not sure. I do know that Raimi wants to remake ED 1, with another actor to play Ash. And then rumor has it that he's interested in ED4, and that (again, rumor, don't quote me on this) Campbell is interested.

You know, I've made a real effor to keep my mouth shut about politics, but I just can't this time: It seems like the only war the left has ever agreed with in the past 100 years was a war that in their view was to save Stalin.

But, back on topic: RIP.

Dude.

I feel the same way, watched TechTV go thru alot of changes in the last 6yrs. I think it was ZD TV when I first started to watch it.

There's only two reasons I occasionaly tune in to that channel: Morgan Webb. Other than that, you're right, it's the tech version of MTV. Just need those Viva La Bam idiots now.

In that case I agree. Empty promises are a huge part of the problem. I really can't fathom why we are not all driving around in electric cars that function just as well, if not better, than their petrol equivalents. I mean, this is 2005 for God's sake.

Of course, electricity still needs to be generated, more often than not by fossil fuels, so maybe that wouldn't solve the problem...

Did you know that Howard Hughes actually developed and manufactured a car that could travel from L.A to San Francisco on a single tank of water? in the 1940s!! He scrapped it when he realised that any collison would cause the driver to be scalded by boiling water, but my point is there are alternatives and I am sick of listening to rubbish from dickheads in government (and the misled public who follow).

Surely developing and manufacturing a feasible alternative, on home soil, would be a huge boost for the economy?

I guess in a way Jedisage is right - it is tiresome listening to environmentalists preaching but nothing ever really getting done, although maybe if everybody put their heads TOGETHER, and laid ulterior motives aside, something would get done. But I suspect we have more chance of seeing pigs fly.

P.S Live 8 did exactly what it intended to do - it raised awareness in people who might not otherwise give a damn by dumbing down politics. Sadly that is what the world has come to - tell a man about poverty, he will not care, take a man to a rock concert, suddenly he's waving his hands in the air shouting 'MAKE POVERTY HISTORY!'. By the way, I was at the London show. It was very good.

I'm all for conservation, and doing what we can. Absolutely. In terms of alternatives, we're not just talking about cars. We're talking about the entire hydro-carbon infrastructure of the planet. We can't just snap our fingers and switch. Homes and businesses need oil for heat, gas and jet fuel to ship their goods. It's going to take a massive effort by the whole world, including China, India, and the rest of the "developing" countries. It will also mean opening the flood gates of what we've got to ease the pain.

Concerts, Live 8, etc: I don't begrudge them because they raise awareness. But there's a big difference between making a meaningful impact, and making a feel-good gesture. Shouting "Make poverty history!" at a concert, any concert, isn't going to solve anything, and the people performing at them might be doing it for the wrong reasons (ie: Publicity).

I truly hope that an alternative can be found and implemented....quickly. Or it's going to be ugly in about 15 years.

ADigitalMan, I totally agree with you on everything you said. And as for $4 a gallon gas coming soon to the USA, well, I live in England and gas is currently priced at about 91 pence a litre (roughly $1.75). There are 4 litres in a gallon, so over here we are basically paying $7 a gallon over here! Thank God my car is small and fuel efficient!!

This problem is not even hard to solve - the technology is there, it's the will of the government and, sadly, joe public, that is lacking.

However, I disagree with Jedisage's environmentalist bashing - we are totally fucking up this planet and one day, in your lifetime, you will wish we hadn't.

I'm not saying we're not screwing up the planet. My point is that in the short term we have to work with what we have and not waste time on empty promises.
