Is it just me, or is Leonardi DiCaprio not half bad?
Time
I just can't imagine being intimidated seeing DiCaprio walking down the street toward me at the head of a rival gang. In fact, I think it would encourage me! He weighs about as much as my daughter.

I think he's so damn overrated. All I ever heard of during the 90's was "Leo DiCaprio Leo DiCaprio Leo DiCaprio". God, it's been a looooong time since Gilbert Grape.

As with all things, the Linux v Windows debate has many points.

Linux is capable of being very small and thin, whereas Windows is not.

Windows is much more user-friendly (Linux/*IX has always been the domain of "mad scientists")

OpenSource has it's own pros and cons. In terms of support and fixes, etc I think it's easier to get them from THE source, not multiple sources, and Windows is definitely easier to keep updated for the average user.

Stability: IMO it's a wash these days. I worked in a data center with hundreds of WinTel servers and Solaris boxes along with DEC OpenVMS and Alpha servers. They all had their share of problems and I would say that of them all, the most troublesome was probably VMS servers.

Speed: Probably goes to Linux due to reduced size.

Security: I don't think Linux/*IX is any more safe than Windows, however due to the market share issue, Windows gets all the bad PR.

I should clarify...yes, the home market has moved to XP, but not by choice. That's what their machines came with and 95% of users aren't going to try to change it because they lack the technical skills. Every pc we've gotten in from a vendor we specify "No OS" so we can put 2000 Pro on it. I know for a fact the defense contractor I used to work for was only beginning to deploy 2000 when I left in '03, and still has a vast install base of NT 4!! It just seems that anyone I know with any skill opts to use 2k instead of XP.

DVD Recommendation
Time
Picked up To Kill a Mocking Bird Legacy Series dvd this past weekend. Man, what an AWESOME set. Lots of extras, nice...meaty packaging, mini-posters in multiple languages, great interviews and clips with Gregory Peck. Not to mention one of the greatest films and actors of all time.

I'm interested in getting Psycho-Dayv's (otherwise known as "P-Dayvie") and other dvd reviewer's takes on this, if you've seen it.

CARL FROM SLINGBLADE-"I LIKE THE WAY YOU TALK, MM-HMM."

"I reckon God would never send the likes o' you to Hades...Mm-Hmm"

I hated the movie, but the character rules! I call my idiot-brother "SlingBlade".

I CALL MY IDIOT BROTHER-IN-LAW "SLINGBLADE" TOO. THE FUNNY THING IS THAT HE'S PRETTY GOOD WITH MOTORS, AND HE'S A MIGHT BIT SLOW IN THE HEAD.

LOL. Well, my brother is pretty good with mechanical stuff, but makes a lot of idiot mistakes. One time he cut down a tree and it fell onto his neighbor's garage. He then wanted to pull down his decrepit garage and wanted to use my dad's truck to do it!

Anyhoo, I see G4's decline continues. They are now putting pictures of porn stars on their website, and Triumph the Insult Comic dog is getting his own show.

As I understand it, the "post-IC" DCU was going to "skip" ahead a year. It was being called DCU - 1 Year Later. However it was decided this was not the way to go in the absence of some type of bridging event...hence 52. At the end of it they will be where they wanted to be at the end of IC. I understand it will be $2.50. I've already added it to my pull-list. They get much more expensive and I will have to consider direct-mail subscriptions.

What really sucks is, all this training is for naught, because of the upcmoing Release of Windows Vista.

Not entirely a problem, though. I was reading that there is a module of some sort in it that is necessary for its operation but nearly half of existing Wintel machines cannot run it. So I think that the adoption of Vista will be much slower than they may initially expect. People won't want to buy a new computer right away especially if their's already works fine.

Vista may be the straw... one can hope.

You guys are losing me. What is so special about Vista?

Rest In Peace. Here are a couple of great G'Kar quotes appropriate for the moment:

Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us.

We all believe in something... greater than ourselves, even if it's just the blind forces of chance.

I believe that when we leave a place a part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in these halls, when it is quiet and just listen. After a while you will hear the echoes of all of our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone, our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit that the part of me that is going will very much miss the part of you that is staying.

Damn, ADM, I was depressed about this already, now you've made it worse... LOL

Yeah, the thought of him with the ability to launch nukes is much better...and it's a reality.

Of course it wasn't an accident. Any more than Vince Foster REALLY committed suicide, and Ron Brown's death was an ACCIDENT.

Please, there's almost no way someone could NOT kill someone at close range with a shotgun unless he was not aiming at the person.
