I agree. I couldn't care less about who makes the biggest explosion or who has the most idiot teenagers running around 1/2 naked. Show me something with a good story and characters I care about with some good dialougue that ISN'T Hollywood leftist propoganda and I'll be happy to plunk down $10 to watch it. Provided they get the theaters under control again.

I just meant skepticism in a broad, general sense. That part of my post wasn't really directed at your take on YIYF's post. Just my own two cents in general.
If anything, his post creeped me out!!

I agree. I think Japanese cars are fantastic, although I'd like to try out German one of these days with a VW.

My take on this particular part of the ep was "Typical Hollywood version of religion: Make it psycho-therapy and use a non-religious religious person and people will be happy". Been there done that.
However the ep as a whole was brilliant as usual. I hate the guy who plays Baltar. It's like "Well, you're going to have an amazing part that people will talk about for decades, make lots of money, and oh yeah, you get to have this blonde crawl all over you almost every time you're on screen". Jack ass.

Hey Warbs, I heard many, many years ago that the city of Philly was trying to get Stallone to take back the Rocky statue at the top of the stairs, the one used in the movies. Do you remember this or know if it actually happened?

I thought last night's was fantastic, and is back on par with anything else they've done. What a great show and I'm going to miss it now until season 3.

I remember being in awe in the dealer's rooms. So much to buy, and no money!! Now that I can afford stuff the cons stink! One of the favorites I remember was watching the original Trek "blooper reels". It was amazing to see them and I laughed no matter how many times I saw the ones in being show. At that time, comics/sci-fi was LIFE. There was nothing else. There's a line in Spider-Man II, where Peter is talking to Aunt May, and May is telling him about the value of the hero, how people talk of waiting in line for hours to meet the person who taught them to hold on for another couple of seconds, etc. That line resonates with me because of all the time I stood in line to meet those people. A lot of them turned out to be jerks, but most of them were cool. I wish a smaller con would come around again so I can take my kids, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Then we graduated to the Sci-fi/Trek conventions in the EARLY days, before TNG came on. I remember meeting James Doohan at a car parking lot. Then when TNG started to air the cons got a LITTLE bit bigger, but still quite intimate. I waited in a LONG line to meet Mark Leonard, who portrayed Spock's father in the Trek incarnations. He was a great guest, very nice, great stories, took time to talk with people in line and pose for photos. Then I remember meeting Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar) right as she was leaving after the first season of TNG. She and my father talked (my dad was hitting on her, I think) and I remember her telling him she was getting ready to do a movie based on a Stephen King book. Then we started going out of state for the cons as TNG REALLY started to take off. I met Michael Dorn (Worf), Marina Sirtis (Troi), John DeLancie (Q), William Shatner, Chase Masterson (Lyta from DS9...got my pic taken with her!), and a host of others. As the cons got bigger, the sense of intimacy was lost and it became all about getting autographs, which had a tendency to irritate the stars, I think. We haven't been to one for quite some time, and the last one was a travesty to say the least. Stayed about 2 hours then left in disgust, having travelled 90 minutes one way for it.
Whatever the occasion, I think the smaller the better, and they are indeed great times.

I read this month's Amazing Spidey by Straczynski, and I must say, the new costume I think will require a little time to grow on me. Not sure about it yet. Also, while I do think DC is CLOBBERING Marvel right now with the IC arc, I believe if JMS handles everything well Marvel is going to be in great shape come the end of Civil War and hopefully the continuity issues will be resolved. Looking forward to reading the next issue of The Sentry mini, also, as he is one of my new favs.
I also want to recommend Book of Lost Souls again, by JMS. This book is fantastic and anyone who liked Sandman I believe will enjoy it. There are subtle nods in the artwork to Sandman, IMO.

I thought the animation was definitely better than anything else Marvel has done (X-Men and Spider-Man are AWFUL). I agree that Capt America's characterization was quite good and it would have been nice to flesh it out a little more. I think the length of the movie as a whole was a little weak (70 minutes??). They could have made it a little longer.
The story line with Hulk was cool. I also am just kind of discovering Iron Man. I like the concept, and Stark is a cool character. Will have to check out his monthly title(s).
Looking forward to more Marvel titles of this (or better) quality.

I can't stand them. They were relevant for about 15 minutes back in 1994, but that's about it.
