The colors are off on both the screencaptures I found online and the screencaptures I made off of a YouTube video of a guy pointing a camera at a massive LED screen, but here is the visual comparison of Yodas:

Dear god, WTF is with the color? It's like someone forgot to turn off the 100% Saturation filter in Photoshop...

As for CG Yoda... well... I'm just going to come right out and say it:
He looks absolutely terrible to me.

Granted, the EP1 puppet was definitely not an accurate replica of the ESB Yoda, but at least he still looked REAL - he looked like he was a living, breathing creature (another benefit of using real props, George...). This new CG Yoda looks so damn fake to me, I can't f***ing stand it!

And Octorox is right, Yoda looks downright pissed off in every shot (could the CG artists at least bother to give the character more than one expression?)

SW: SHADOWS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC (3-in-1 Prequel Film) ** V2 cut AVI Release Now Available
Time

Check the first post of the thread, but yes, I'm going to be making a better cut & DVD release for this fanedit.

Changes to the edit so far include:

- For the EP1 segment, I'll probably be cutting Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan meeting Jar Jar Binks in the swamp (so Jar Jar is now hardly seen and never heard in the edit). I'll also most likely be adding back Queen Amidala's discussion with Senator Palpatine over Chancellor Valorum and corruption in the Senate (because of that, some scene rearrangement may take place).

- Still haven't decided on whether or not I'll be giving Dooku and Yoda purple lightsabers (like in my main Prequel edits).

- I'll still be keeping Leia and her birth with Luke in this edit's ending.

JasonN's PT FanEdits (Attack of the Federation, Twilight of the Republic, & The Black Knight Rises) (Released) ** Revised V3 Cuts In The Works
Time

The color-correction on AOTF is finished and I've started rendering the video file. Again, this is not any sort of "revolutionary" color-correction - just a subtle CC of the film to remove the red/magenta hue that's present on the DVD release of EP1.

Also, there will be one new, abit minor cut to the edit:
I removed the scene of Anakin explaining the C3PO is a protocol droid to help his mom.
(and a poor slave woman would need a protocol droid because.... why???)

Info: [re]MATRIX - a JasonN fanedit film series (work in progress)
Time

These are fanedits currently WIP (or being pre-planned) in which I’m taking several select films and rewriting/remaking their narratives in the mythos of the sci-fi film, The Matrix:

Noir Simulacrum
Some people might remember me talking about this fanedit a while ago (and some may have also seen my teaser trailer as well), but this takes the sci-fi film Dark City and transposes its world into that of another “Matrix”-type universe.

Dreams
This fanedit takes the supernatural film Stay (staring Ewan “Obi-Wan” McGregor and Ryan Gosling) and transforms it into the story of one young man realization of the Matrix (and his attempt to break free of it) and of the people who caught up with him in the “fantasy” world. The edit is sort of inspired by the short films Beyond and World Record of the Animatrix anime series.

Project 101
Not so much a full feature, but rather a short film, this edit uses footage from Terminator Salvation (mostly from the opening segments of the film) to detail  the Man/Machine War that occured prior to the creation of the Matrix(making it essentually a “prologue” to the first film). Inspired by the war segments of The Second Renaissance short films from the Animatrix anime series.

He has two versions - there's his 1080p AVCHD that's color corrected, but it's the DVD cut, and his SD restoration of the theatrical version (DVD-9) that's also color corrected.

I don't know if the subs are hard-coded in the theatrical DVD version or not.

If the SD-DVD version uses soft subs (and if I could track it down from somewhere), then yes, that would probably be ideal to use it for my CC-version of AOTF (because then all that I'd have to color-correct would be the deleted scenes that I used in it and my "phantom Sidious" composites).

brash_stryker: It took me a little over a month of "on-again, off-again" editing to recolor Dooku's lightsaber in EP2. I had previously tried using masks and compositing in both Vegas and After Effects to change the saber's color, but the results were never exactly what I wanted. Ultimately, I selected to recolor the saber by hand, frame-by-frame using a graphics tablet and the software Mirage (the predecessor of TVPaint) - it was definitely time-consuming, but it gave me the best results for my edit.

Having said that, I'd never choose to recolor ALL the Jedi lightsabers blue: all that work would probably drive me up the f***ing wall....  O_O

After the city battle is done and over with JasonN jumps forward 2 years to show the Autobots and military have been working together ever since and are still kicking Decepticon ass, and that the fight isn't over.  That's about it in a nutshell.

Yep, that's exactly it.

Also, the DVD-9 release is fully finished - I just have to mail it to another person for RS upload, so it should be available later next week. :)

Well I'll be damned, I knew Ep I's color was a little off but I never noticed that before.  That said JasonN, would it be possible to take Ady's color corrected Ep I and just replace your edited footage with it?

I'm also curious, what software are you using?

Until you had mentioned it, I was not aware that Adywan had done a CC-version of EP1. In tracking the AVCHD release down, however, I see that using it would pose some problems:

- he only color-corrected the main film; he hasn't touched any of the deleted scenes (so I'd still have to CC those scenes)

- the alien subtitles are hardsubbed into the video, which is a big problem since I've rewritten many of the aliens' dialogue in my fanedit

- I'd have to redo all of the "phantom Sidious" composites (huge pain in the ass to do again...)

- I've already color-corrected 1/3 of my edit so far

And my editing software is Sony Vegas.

Ok, color correction!  Here's a short clip from the beginning of the space fight that shows what I'm trying to achieve color wise.  Basically, I'm trying to remove the Red Hue that covered the entire movie, and make the colors more stark like in Ep I and the OT.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1qTJYzzDEI

EP1 had a magenta (red/pink) hue throughout its film as well, which I've been working at removing for the next release of my Attack of the Federation fanedit:

TRANSFORMERS: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE - (Released)

Updated changes for the DVD Release:
1. Ok, I feel really pissed off at myself for not catching this sooner than I did....

Apparently in two of the "Soundwave in space" scenes (1st is where he acknowledges Wheelie to follow Mikella and 2nd is when he tells the Decepticons to mobilize), Michael Bay - in his efforts to constantly reuse as much footage as possible in TF2:ROTF - used THE EXACT SAME ANIMATED FOOTAGE OF SOUNDWAVE IN BOTH SCENES!!!
http://www.vimeo.com/7551430

(the only difference to these scenes, apart from Soundwave's dialogue, is Wheelie's subtitles in the 1st scene and a slight contrast filter in the 2nd scene)

Repeat footage in movies tend to annoy me to no end (unless it's like in a flashback), so I've gone back and re-edited the Soundwave's "achknowledge" scene in my fanedit to use different footage instead (I've also replaced the "zoom-in from space" shot from earlier in the hacking sequence with an alternative shot of Soundwave):
http://www.vimeo.com/7551456

2. Cut the hacker girl and her black friend from the helicopter scene with Sam/Mikella.

3. Trimmed about 20 seconds from the "Shanghai" epilogue (cut more footage from the Commander Center, removed Captain Lennex and co. talking in the helicopter, and removed Ironhide's "I smell him" line)

4. Smoothed out several music cuts/transitions that could've been better

how aggressive will be the color correction? Subtle or radical?

Probably leaning more towards "subtle" - again, I'm more concerned with removing the "magenta" (and occassionally "cyan") tones that are present throughout the video and making the film look more natural (like what Adywan did with ANH).

Higher production values does not mean that a movie is gonna be good - District 9's budget was less than 10% of Revenge of the Fallen, yet it managed to have far superior story, writing, character development, and originality than anything achieved in Michael Bay's TF sequel.

Kevinicus said:

I'm not worried about kids as far as the humor, though if I were I'd have no problem with anything in these movies.

So you think that a movie with humping male dogs, robots peeing on humans, a swearing mother who gets stoned out of her mind on marijuana brownies, a little robot that feels up a girl's leg, extreme misogynistic views towards young women as nothing more than sex objects, masturbation jokes of poor taste, terrible racist stereotypes of anyone non-white, and pathetic xenopobic attitudes of anyone non-American IS PERFECTLY APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN?!!?

However, this thread is not about Revenge of the Fallen - it's about my fanedit of the first Transformers film, so from now on let's keep all comments about that instead.

I think it'll be a lot easier to work with ROTF than it was with the first movie since ROTF is a much better movie to begin with.

I'm sorry if this is rude.... but that is absolute BULLS**T.

As for the preview video, I needed to keep the "Sam/Dad talk" because it reveals how Sam got out of jail (his dad bailed him out) since I completely removed the prior "Police Station" scenes. As for the masturbation joke... yeah, I thought it was in very bad taste and terrible humor.
("These movies are for the kids", my ass, Bay...)

One last preview video - Sam searching his home for the Glasses (after he and Mikella meet the Transformers), followed by Sector 7's introduction: http://www.vimeo.com/7336381

As of now, the fanedit has been 100% finalized - I'll start rendering the mpv/ac3 files for the DVD tomorrow, followed by rendering the xvid-AVI version from those files (the AVI version will be released first, btw).

Sounds cool! So you'll still be hacking TF2 into a watchable movie as well once you get the right software?

Not sure what you're talking about as far as right software - are you talking about DVD ripping software? (because I already have the RotF DVD ripped to my HD)

As for me making TF2: Revenge of the Fallen as its own fanedit?
No.... just.... god no.

Do you mean "percent"?

The only scenes from TF2: RotF that's being included in my fanedit is:
- the Autobot/Decepticon battle in Shanghai (ends with Optimus Prime decending from the plane)
- Soundwave's hacking the satalite
- Soundwave launching Ravage to Earth
- Ravage's attack on the military complex
- Soundwave telling the Decepticons to mobilize

(I was debating on also including the Megatron/Starscream dialogue on the skyscraper, but Megatron's design is too different from his TF1 design to work effectively)
