Info Wanted: Star Tours footage?
Time
This whole idea is sounding better and better. I too would love to get a hold of these discs, and perhaps combine them into one massive "Star Tours" dvd.
I feel like we're so close to making a really cool set. I've seen lots of the "Star Tours" videos floating around, along with great pictures, etc.
All of this really needs to be collected onto one dvd. I guess we should start by looking at the content of these ellusive discs. If anyone has copy of them, might you be willing to share?
Also, there are other things that would be worth including, such as the promotional videos for Star Wars weekends at Disneyland.
Anyway, this really does have so much potential...I hope we can get it off the ground...

Man, I always thought this would make a good dvd preservation. If someone has a good video copy, I definitely think it should be preserved.
I always wanted to do this, but I never found any good video of the ride. I started collecting different photos of the ride and the "exhibits" that are with it.
It would be cool to include a slideshow of these images along with any other good pictures people had to offer up.
Also, along with the video of the ride, there definitely would also have to be all of the instruction videos featuring the Star Wars characters.
Well, that Star Tours audio file is a step in the right direction. It's sounds crystal clear, so now we just need the video!

That Star Tours flash animation would be good to include as well...that was pretty cool...anyway...

Ok, I thought of another random thing I'd love to see. Does anyone have dvd copies of "Return of the Planet of the Apes"? This is the cartoon spin-off of the movies. I think there were like 13 episodes. Anyway, I thought it could be cool.

Sorry for posting so many suggestions....I hope it's not annoying. As soon as I have anything to offer, I will offer it up!

Hey,

I just thought I'd throw another one out there. I was wondering if anybody had a copy of "The Wizard" on DVD?
It's that 1989 Nintendo movie starring Fred Savage. Man, I loved that movie as a kid.
I've seen a couple of DVDs pop up on ebay, but I thought I'd check if anyone a copy to possibly torrent or something.
Anyway, thanks...

Info Wanted: 'When Star Wars Ruled The World' (Myspleen)
Time
Hi,

Yeah, I was looking forward to this torrent too. I hope it gets back up soon.

Also, I noticed too that my upload speed slows down a whole lot. Sometimes I'll just leave a couple of torrents open uploading, but the speeds are way lower than capable. My settings should be fine, so I always just assumed it was limited because of the speed of those downloading. It kinda sucks because I really want to get my ratio up, and because of this it takes forever. Anyway...

STAR WARS: The Torrents thread

Hey shadow_cruiser,

Head on over to www.halloweeenmovies.com, and go to their forums. They have one forum called "memorbilia" or something like that for trading and stuff. There is a guy named "Franchise" who has a bunch of Halloween rare cuts that he "trades" for about $15-$20. These include the tv/alternate cut of Halloween II, Halloween: H20, Halloween Ressurection (i.e., Halloween: Homecoming). I think he has a few more. Anyway, I love to get my hand on some of these cuts...been thinking about it for awhile. But you should definitely shoot him a PM over there...

The Official babyhum Release Thread
Time
Hey,

Sorry if this is off topic...or if it's been asked before. I was just wondering what happened to the babyhum release of "VH1: When Star Wars Ruled the World"?
I never got a chance to download it before, but I noticed that it used to be up there on MySpleen.
I never got a chance to see this, so I was hoping to check it out. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Hmmm...that is interesting. I wonder if anyone ever got a copy of that. I think that's pretty cool that Lucas did that though.

I went to this exhibit and camcorder taped the documentary along with all the props and such. If worse comes to worse, I can send you my tape for the audio and the exhibit footage. But I will say, I did capture it from my camcorder so the audio sucks. I may have a better copy of it somewhere in my pile of star wars footage, I'll have to check and see.

Hey that's cool. It's totally up to you. If you think that the audio is at all salvagable, I'd like to give it a listen. Maybe some of it is worth using?? Also, if I ever was able to convert this to DVD, it might be kind of fun to include some of your footage of the exhibit! But yeah, if you have a better copy of it somewhere, that would be cool too.

Oh... I thought you ment it was a documentary about the exhibit. Well I'm from Europe and never heard about it.

Sorry for the confusion. Yeah, it was a documentary for the exhibit, that they showed in the museum.
I'm from the States and I never heard of it either.. That's why it was such a crazy find!

Hey again,

The tape is NTSC. There are definitely only 2 channels of audio on this tape. They are identical, in that they only have the music and effects.
We tried everything. We played it in a couple of different Beta-SP decks and D-Beta decks. All decks show that only these two channels are on there. We tried a couple of other tapes just to make sure the decks weren't malfunctioning. Unfortunately, it appeared that they weren't.

I thought the same thing when I first watched it. Why wouldn't the full mix be on there? Maybe it was an earlier production copy and the narraton/interview mix wasn't completed? I have no idea. It was such a let down...I was so excited when my friend first showed it to me.

Also, yeah, I think the doc is unique to the exhibit. I didn't even know what it was when I first watched it. I looked it up online and found out about the exhibit. I might be wrong though. I guess it could have been a part of something else too.

Hey guys,
I’ve been following these boards a lot, and I gotta say, I think all of this stuff is really cool. I’m so impressed by what all the fans on here are capable of. I love the idea of preserving all things Star Wars, and giving every fan a chance to be a part of that, whether it’s participating or just collecting. Mad props.

Anyway, I thought I would share something I came across. As some of you might know, around 1999, a new exhibit at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC opened up. It was called “Star Wars: The Magic of Myth”. It was an exhibit that examined the connections between the Star Wars films to classical mythology and how that mythology helped inspire Star Wars and other films. I was not lucky enough to attend this exhibit, but I’ve read a few things online about it, and it seems that it was pretty neat. Apparently it had all kinds of cool information and fun stuff to do. And it housed lots of original props and costumes from the movies. I wish I could have seen it. But anyway, along with the exhibit, they showed a half-hour documentary titled, obviously enough, “Star Wars: Magic of Myth”. It basically talks about the ideas of the exhibit and also Star Wars’ impact on modern culture. It has interviews with Georgie Lucas himself, along with other actors and people involved with the films. It has clips from the films along with other mythology-influenced sci-fi films. It’s a pretty cool documentary.

So, to the point. A friend of mine has come across a video copy of this documentary. It is on Beta SP, so the quality is amazing. It is the full video with nothing cut out or added in. It is an awesome thing to come across. However, there is a catch. On this copy, there are only two channels of audio. On both of them, there is only the audio from the shown movie clips, and most of the soundtrack. But, none of the actual interview audio is on there! None of it…only silence when the people are speaking. I was so bummed when I learned that. It was like being so close to this great thing, but yet so far.

Well, a couple of things. I wanted to post this to see what you guys think about it. It’s such a cool thing to see, and my friend would love to share it. However, it seems kind of empty and pointless without that missing audio. So firstly, I thought posting this would maybe find someone who happens to have something with the audio to this documentary on it. Maybe a poor video quality version where at least we could work with the audio? Or maybe another idea to somehow maybe work with this to make it work?

Secondly, my friend does not want to get into trouble for sharing this. He obviously does not own the rights to it. And he is a little worried about treading into this legal water. So he doesn’t want to get into trouble, and I certainly don’t want him to either. If talking about this is or sharing sharing this is “too far”, then that will be that.

So what do you guys think about this. Is it worth pursuing? And how would I do that? Here are a couple of links that talk about this exhibit. The first one is a website I found, and the other one is a link from StarWars.com about the exhibit. After that, I posted an excerpt about the doc from starwars.com

http://www.nasm.si.edu/exhibitions/StarWars/start.htm

http://www.starwars.com/community/event/museum/news19990702.html

“A 30-minute documentary examines the impact of Star Wars on world culture on the late 20th century. The documentary includes interviews with George Lucas, actors Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill as well as sound effects director Ben Burtt, composer John Williams and others.”

Anyway, let me know what you think. Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to get all of the info out. Thanks.

Hi guys,
I was wondering if anybody has a good LD to DVD transfer of "Howard the Duck"?
Sorry if this has been mentioned before. I couldn't find it in a search.
Anyway, I've always wanted to see this movie again, as I haven't seen it in years.....
I've thought about buying a copy from ebay, but I was just wondering if anybody knew of any good torrent for it.
Anyway, thanks, and keep up the good work!

My wishlist for the 3 OT movies:

  • Anamorphic video (flawless w/ welding scene & no "gaps")
  • PCM 2.0 audio (straight from LD, lossless)
  • Interactive menus (with chapter selection)
  • NOTHING ELSE (all space devoted to maximum quality)

Is anyone working on a version that fits the bill?

I'll second that svenge! I'd like to see the same thing. With the addition of C-3POs "tractor beam" line put back in and also having them on dual layer discs!

HERE HERE!

I'll fourth that! That would be the ultimate! If anybody could do all that, you'd be a hero...

Star Wars DVD Covers

Hey Cerebro. These are great covers. I'm definitely going to print these out. I haven't decided which set I am going to use though.

The only thing I noticed about them, was that in your description for the featurette "How the Walkers Walk", the word "create" is mssing the "e" on the end. I think this is on both of the supplemental covers (though I only downloaded the anamorphic versions.) Anyway, it's just a quick fix. Usually on my covers, I have about 50 typos.

Hey Laserman, thanks for the response. It all makes more sense to me now. Awesome...I'm getting excited about this stuff...There's actually a couple of things I'd like to transfer. That's cool that you mentioned digital betacam, because that's basically the idea I was going for. The place I work at let's me use their beta decks and tapes. I think I am just going to transfer my stuff onto digital betacam tapes and use them as my master. So what would you reccomend using to transfer the audio? I mean, I have access to a DAT machine...or is something else better? Speaking of that, do you think it would be a good idea to capture both video and audio at the same time, so I could sync the timecodes, like using SMPTE? Thanks again for the help Laserman.

Also, so am I correct in saying that neither the Definitive set or the Faces set have the missing C3P0 line? If this is so, has anyone ever separately captured (or considered capturing) this scene/line from the 1997 Special Edition laserdiscs and inserting into their transfer of the Definitive or Faces set? I know Laserman, you said you might do a lot of cutting and pasting using the laserdisc sets and the new upcoming dvds...is that still the route you're taking?

I also want to ask again if anyone is using a Mac for their encoding/transfering/etc. I would really like to know what software and settings would be best...

Anyway thanks again guys.
