I don't have a whole lot going on this summer so I might devote my time to fixing the rest of the continuity errors Adywan left behind, as well as incorporating a few music ques I would like to insert in places, and attempting to make the CGI death star battle a little more convincing. I have very little experience in video editing software, and most of it was on a mac. I will be using pc software for this. I have no idea whether I will be able to handle this or not.

I don't think Adywan reads the other thread so I posted it in here to get a response quicker.

I just finished watching the purist version. Well, I didn't really watch it, more like skimmed through the parts I wanted to see if they remained the same. I'll have to say, I prefer the full/DVD-9 version. I didn't realize how lame the lightsaber battle is with no backround music now. Especially now that it is edited longer with less breaks. The picture of the purist version seems a little lower quality than the DVD-9/full version. Am I just imagining things or is the purist version less color corrected and lower resolution than the DVD-9 version?

This is exactly what the fans wanted. Continuity errors fixed, special effects enhanced, picture restored properly, good color correction, and multiple version to choose from. Instead we got half-assed everything with Lucas wasting most of his time inserting pointless, stupid antics aimed at the kiddies. How is it that an individual with modest resources and the help of fans were able to do all this, but Lucas's mighty, multi-billion dollar empire armed with with susposedly the finest CGI wizards in the world couldn't do a fraction of this?

One nitpick I have Adywan is why didn't you paint red flares on the backs of all the Tie-Fighters? Out of all the subtle changes you made, how could you have missed this one?

I will get that version too. But I would still like to know if there is anyway I can get access to your German HD broadcast?

I have another question for you. How did you create the extended Alderaan Destruction clip? I would also like to insert that into your version.

I'm guessing the effect from the middle picture was taken from "Armageddon" but the other two look like they were created.

I've been surfing through this thread and I learned where you pulled some of this footage. But how did you create the Alderaan explosion in the third pic?

You seriously think Lucasfilm has a team spying on this forum? I highly doubt it. They couldn't even detect the green lightsaber in the '04 version.

Vader's chestplate has a big red and green button on the right and glowing red buttons on the left. In some scenes it looks like the green button on the right is blue.  Like here, this was taken from Revisited:

And here, the chest plate looks like it has plastic wrap on it in some shots:

Hey Adywan, could you take a picture of your working enviornment for the revisits and post it on this forum? I would like to see what your computer and desk space looks like on a typical day?

The only thing I miss that has been removed for the Adywan version is the music from this shot:

Other than a few minor things I mentioned in the Can anything else be done to ANH after Adywan thread, I think it's almost perfect. Adywan, would there be any way I could get a hold of your color corrected German HD broadcast? I would like to re-insert this shot back into your version. All I have for access to that shot right now is the '04 DVD and I don't think I can color correct it to exactly fit the rest of your color correction.

The only feature that PowerDVD has that VLC doesn't, is the ability to move one frame at a time. I'm sure there is a way to do that with VLC player, but I haven't found it yet.

Why does PowerDVD cost $69-$100, while VLC player is free and has more and better features?

I would be willing to donate $100 to Adywan for this project if I can get other people to do it too. Who's with me?

I know some forums have the capability to post a youtube or other video website right to the forum so no link is necessary.

My computer monitor's max screen resolution is 1440 by 900. I don't even think that qualifies as HD. I have PowerDVD 8 standard version which I found out doesn't play HD. I have to get the Ultra version of 8 or 9 which is another $70. But does VLC play HD? What about InterActual player? Does that play in HD?

The only way to make jabba sound like the return of the jedi jabba is to have someone re dub his voice and lower pitch. I think they even doubled the tracks and made one a little lower than the other. Make him say words that are like what the ROTJ jabba would say. And for crying out loud can we give him his Hooo hoo hoo hooo ha ha ha ha ha laugh back.

Why are you worried about Jabba? That scene is completely ridiculous. Why would Jabba even go to Solo? It's completely out of character. It takes away the whole menacing factor he had.

I'm a noobie and I just went through the experience of downloading it. If you read through the last several pages you can learn how to do it through my posts.

• Use firefox
• Get the flashgot add-on
• Download the latest version of Flashget
• buy a rapidshare account (the 1 month plan is probably your best bet)
• Attach your rapidshare account to flashget (how to attach your rapidshare account with flashget)
• Create a Link Talk account
• Find Adywan's Fan edit in the fanedit forum on LinkTalk
• Post a message on the forum to access the files
• Select the "highlight all" option to the group of rapidshare files you want to download
• Right click them, select copy, flashget should show up, you might have to select copy twice
  
• Click OK, then click advance in the flashget menu
• Insert your account information in the rapidshare box
• Select and/or create a folder to download them in
• Before downloading, turn off all firewall and antiviruse programs
• When finished, download Winrar
• Open Winrar, select the test option and test the files to make sure there are no erros
• If no errors report, select the extract option and select and/or create a folder to extract the files in
• When that is finished, the first VIDEO_TS file should work with PowerDVD 8 (VLC player should, but has not for me)
  
• The download includes SetupImgBurn in the DVD_ROM folder to burn to a disc.

You don't have to do this in order. I would actually turn off all you antivirus/spyware and firewall first. Download all the software. Creat your accounts. and then do the download.

That's all I can think of right now. It's very easy.

I don't like the way the Death Star explodes. Something that big doesn't just blow up into a plumb of fire. I break apart in big peices. I would like to see the Death Star explosion done more realistically. Don't have it blow up all at once. Maybe first have flames shooting out of it sporadically and then blow up and break apart in big pieces.

Adywan, when you get a chance, visit the: "Can anything else be done to ANH after Adywan?" thread. I have something I want you to look at.

I noticed there are a few places in the battle of Yavin where Adywan either forgot or wasn't able to include the red flares on the back of some of the tie fighters. The most obvious that I could find being here:

Perhaps someone else could add red flares to the Tie Fighters missing them? I might even try to do it myself, if I get proficient video editing.

I never liked this scene, how it abruptly cuts from Luke & Ben sitting at the table, then when comes back to the table, they're gone. It doesn't show any exhibition of them leaving the table.

I never noticed that giant mouse creature sitting by the table until now. It looks so forlorn, I feel sorry for it.
