As I said on another thread its a pity they didn't jettison the CW cartoons also,.....(Darth Maul....back from the dead....with Robo-Legs is canon???)
J
That came straight from the mind of George, so yes.
The general gist was that they are gonna pick and choose which bits they want and which bits they want to ignore. "Maul back from the dead" is still in CW, but they don't ever have to mention him again if they don't want to.
True it never has to be brought up again but it is canon.
He set the films he created as the canon. This includes the six Star Wars episodes, and the many hours of content he developed and produced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. These stories are the immovable objects of Star Wars history, the characters and events to which all other tales must align.
Yes I understand Tobar,.....The entirity of what George created,....including the Prequels and the SE additions
On a more inspiring note,....new EU....

It's a pity the Clone Wars cartoon wasn't included in the EU dump.......

.....and the Prequels ;)

Spiderman has nothing to do with the MCU.
I'd prefer that he was, I think his character would be in better hands
J
I'd love it to be also, but the size of the font is larger than Harrison's and it starts further into the chair.....I think it must be CAST as Tim says
......or could it just be CARRIE :)
J
Honestly mate your right not bothering with it, my 14 year old son tried to advise me not to go, now hes telling me 'I told you it would be crap'

I wish Marvel could get a hold of the rights to Spiderman and the Fantastic Four and but them in the MCU,because I would love to see what they would do with them there.
I wish they would too, just saw The Amazing Spider-man 2 and it wasn't so amazing, I have to say it was probably worse than the first one.
The movie was a cringe-fest
Sky is re-running the Sam Raimi films (which I enjoyed, apart from 3 at the time), and they now are not that great, I think its the winning formula of how these movies should be made by Marvel studios thats effecting my judgement.

Of all the changes to the OT why didn't George take a digital comb and fix General Madine's hair? It looked ridiculous a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, in 1983, and today in 2014.
Ha yeah, & the stick-on beard

I only like the original film and Empire. No SE, PT, EU books or comics, cartoon shows, ect. I don't collect toys or cards or any merchandise. I actually don't own a single official product except for the original OT boxset on VHS and I loaned that to my sister to show my nephews over 10 years ago*. I have no intentions of asking for it back.
So... can/should I still call myself a Star Wars fan?
* the original VHS tapes are the only version of Star Wars my nephews have seen. No PT either. And they LOVE it! The OT are their favorite films. Makes me happy.
I'd say you were, I'm much the same.....adding ROTJ......thats it
The rest I think is shite
J
Sounds interesting, I'd love to see this

I love the PT. I think it's more fun and moving than the OT, and are better films.
I hate to break it to you, but you're in a minority, not just here.
In a few years time hopefully when there are better quality SW films around you'll look back on these comments with embarrassment.

Other movies were shooting in digital, and released before AOTC. Jason X for one.
Now, Hollywood is flirting with 4K, and Lucas' experiments are forever locked at 1080.
Although I dislike the Prequels it really is unfortunate that he decided to do that
J
Its kinda sad really that the prequel trilogy is getting brushed aside by Disney & the current SW wave, I suppose the way they look at it it was a badly made back story to the main part of the saga, and its now time to move the story on.
Any recent advertising or Star Wars 7 rumours nearly always use images of the Original Trilogy (the exception would be the CG Yoda)....Star Wars Angry Birds is almost exclusively OT (the iconic Darth Maul being the exception here).....it seams that the prequel trilogy is now fading into the background.
Why?....because they were an experiment, George Lucas was pushing technology forward as he always does, full CG characters, shooting in Digital etc,....but he faltered in the stories & direction, what made the Original films so strong was missing in the Prequels.......the new owners of the Saga know how poor they were and they are banking on the success of the Originals (look at the plans for the SW section at Disneyland......no mention of the prequels)
To suggest that the Prequels are superior to the Originals is like saying a greasy burger is a health food

Some comparison images starting to pop up between it (left) and the MR one (right)
Not so sure about this Falcon now, the details are very soft

^ The Ben's SE home scene just looks too busy.....is it on the edge of a canyon....if so did Luke drive it up that steep side?....or did he reverse it into that parking space....if so....why?.....is there a busy road near there?
The original just establishes that the speeder is parked at someones home,....no questions

The Emperor would know about Luke Skywalker by this point. He's the guy that blew up the friggin Death Star. Word gets around.
I'm not entirely convinced of this, considering the Rebels are an underground group in hiding and trying to keep the location of their base (and presumably anything that could connect them to the Rebels - e.g. their names and involvement) a secret.
Ultimately it doesn't make a difference in the context of the line anyway. Even if he does know his name, it doesn't automatically mean he'd refer to him by it. The Emperor might be more grandiose than that. I think saying "Young Skywalker" rather than Luke suits him. Very theatrical.
Makes no difference to me either way.
We discussed this topic several times on this thread......so going by the original versions of the films (and not the Ian McDiarmid SE version) the Emperor, Vader and the Galaxy well knows the name of the Rebel who destroyed the Death Star,....Vader & Palps both know who's son he is....
There is a disturbance in the Force......suddenly somewhere in the Galaxy there is something happening,....Luke is in training with a Jedi Master, the vibrations of this event is like a fly on a spiders web
We have a new enemy.....Luke Skywalker is a potential threat,...to upset the Sith's control of the Galaxy
The new dialogue of the SE throws this concept out the window, Palps only then knows the name of the Rebel & Vader pretends not to, even though the opening crawl says Vader was obsessed in finding young Skywalker

I used footage that Ady composited,....my audio does go out of sync a bit, but it should give you an impresion of concept,....You can hear the difference in the audio when you are prepared for it, I'm sure Ady could blend it better
