I have return of the jedi on Beta. I bought Star Wars and Empire but the tapes arrived in the mail broken.

So all i have is Return of the Jedi, and somehow i misplaced my Making of Star Wars and Empire Strikes back Beta tape. I also have no player. Like CED i bought them with the intention of doing so but never did.

My Jedi tape looks unused except for the sticker seal being broken, it was probably watched once. The box is in immaculate condition, in nicer shape for sure than my first issue VHS tape.

You really have to give credit to John Williams as well. Spielberg’s best are collaborations with Williams.

Jurassic Park or ET is nothing without his music, i would argue the same for Jaws. Raiders by far has the best score of the INDY films, LSO back then was in top form.

I decided to get the epic collection for Dark Empire, and for Boba Fett Enemy of the Empire.

The reprint of the Zahn trilogy is out of stock at the original price, the same for Mara Jade by the Emperor’s hand.

Was hoping they reprinted Dark Lords of the Sith but Marvel hasn’t. I also don’t understand the deal with them, why do a limited amount of copies of a certain book, and wanting you to get the digital edition when it is sold out. I don’t do digital comics.

I also just got the 1993 Gold Variant set of Dark Empire i hope its worth it. I have no idea what the quality of the print or paper is.

I wasn’t aware Russ ever released them.

To quote russs15 “As I have stated more than once, I have been collecting UK PAL VHS Star Wars tapes with a view to capturing them up onto DVD for my own benefit”

He never had any intent of putting them out.

He created a page to discuss the differences between the releases. He also used to have a now defunct website Galactic Trade Federation. Which had all the known versions of preservations way back then.

I’m trying to finish my shelf of first editions. I do have Heir to the Empire TPB, don’t have Dark Force Rising or the Last Command. But i do have the hardcover reprint of all 3. Which is not comic sized.

I’m very tempted to get the Magazine serialized version of Dark Empire. In the oversized format, or the Gold printings of 1-6 in the 5000 print run. But the content is the same.

The quality of the King Kong Colorized is quite good for Laserdisc, though it will never be quite as good as archival material on black and white in High Definition on a Blu-Ray.

Captain Blood was only released once Colorized on VHS. I tried to find the Laserdisc it doesn’t exist.

As for Casablanca i never heard that was on Laserdisc, i know someone taped it and wouldn’t share his copy. He also had Citizen Kane, the Sea Hawk. Treasure of the Sierra Madre etc.

The Super VCD of Clones was preserved i think by someone years ago. Was it on the Spleen, i’ve kind of forgotten to be honest.

It was the most common version. I think None talked about it in a thread somewhere. I think it was called the Centropy version. My copy is dead as i assume most physical copies are. CDR were never meant to have shelf life of 19 years. I wish i had the foresight to archive it to a Taiyo Yuden or even an archival gold disc.

It is true they made everything up on the fly just like Lucas. Except Disney Lucasfilm wasn’t able to get away with it, and Lucas was.

The Saga wasn’t always the Saga of Darth Vader, it wasn’t always about father’s and sons and grandfathers, or a family soap opera. Leia wasn’t the sister and Vader wasn’t Luke’s old man. Obi Wan wasn’t a liar and so on. It wasn’t about a chosen one prophecy, a virgin birth and other such nonsense about blah, blah balance of the force.

So Rey being related to someone, then a no one, then related to someone is not that big a stretch.

I laughed when Emperor Smeagol was cut in half and did not foresee it. He was a bargain basement replacement for Palpatine anyway. I always assumed he was just a puppet and Palpatine was really the person behind the curtain pulling the strings. I never assumed he was literally Palpatine’s creature created in a cloning tube on Exegol.

Added Star Wars 1986 Japanese Pressing with OBI, Empire Japanese pressing from 1986 with Obi, and Jedi with OBI from the same series. Pan and scan.

also the 1995 Faces Hong Kong Pan and scan Return of the Jedi, although it has hole punches in the cover and is probably ex rental i really want to confirm if its the same Pan and scan transfer of the 1995 VHS set.

Just got my Boxtree first printing of Dark Empire it is slightly less tall than the us edition also on lousy quality non glossy paper. Very disappointed. The only positive is the content is identical to the first US printing, but it looks so muddy i feel like i wasted 25 dollars. In fact its on worse paper than the original run of comics of which i own the first edition of issue #1. Now i’m tempted to get the Epic Collection from Marvel to compare.

Those books are trade paperback but other than the cover there is no new content. Exactly the same as every other mass market edition, which already exist in numerous reprintings. They are not illustrated or annotated editions with commentary.

Shatterpoint is getting an unabridged audiobook edition for the first time, that seems to be the only new content.

The only one i’ve seen that wasn’t really in my wheelhouse but i really liked was Tucker the man and his dream.

But then i’ve liked most of Lucasfilm, including twice upon a time. Willow. Red Tails, Strange Magic, even Howard the Duck.

Radioland Murders to be honest i haven’t seen. I guess i should try it.

Is it okay to like a trashy remake, i kind of like Never Say Never Again. I would never say its better than Thunderball though.

I see the Thing has already been mentioned, so i guess i will say Judy Garland version of a Star is Born.

I bought mine in Newbury Comics. It was a very nice looking set, nice movie compact disc cases and box. The transfer on the other hand i found to be worse than the VHS release. Which also came out in 2000. I thinks its pan and scan, no pan and scan Laserdisc exists for the 2000 release. But one does for the 1995 Faces OT in Hong Kong with Cantonese Subtitles.

One of these days i really have to get around to watching the Ghibli Box laserdisc and the 1998 Disney one and see which one has the better transfer. I do know that the Ghibli box version has the Old Kiki Jal Airlines dub, and the other the uncut dub from 98 with soaring and i’m gonna fly and all of Phil Hartman’s Jiji lines.

Not superior but a new take would be Space Battleship Yamato 2199. I feel like it was the best remake i’ve ever seen. Very faithful in spirit to the original series.

I don’t really care for remake sequels as a concept, even if i sort of like aspects of Force Awakens. And i despised Jurassic World. I still feel like they shouldn’t have remade return of the jedi as rise of skywalker, but again i liked the movie regardless. Last Jedi was sort of a remake of Empire Strikes Back and Return as well, and sort of not.

Into Darkness wasn’t better than Wrath of Khan, although i don’t hate Into Darkness. I just feel like all the Star Trek films lately were villains with revenge plots. Rather than about humanism and exploration.

Lucas was mixing the mono mix and the foreign releases right up until he left for Hawaii.

Or so i’ve read. The story of him going on vacation, building sand castles with Spielberg and telling him about Indiana Smith, a James Bond style serial.

I had one of those subscriptions that lasted the entire production timeline of the prequels it was a 10 year subscription. It ended in 2005. I still have the revenge of the sith watch, the patch and stickers and welcome letter somewhere. The Bantha Tracks iron on was cool.

I also once had a subscription to Topps Star Wars Galaxy magazine. But when it became the Star Wars galaxy collector it just wasn’t the same and i stopped collecting it. The original magazine came with posters and cards.

I never had the 2003 edition, mine was the first impression first printing from 1993. Glossy Shiny Paper. The colorist used quite garish colors. I have no idea who the colorist was, i always assumed it was Pamela Rambo but its not stated.

I decided to buy the Boxtree version instead of the new Marvel printing. I like Dark Empire not sure i 40 dollars like Dark Empire. I also don’t need Dark Empire II already have it. Don’t need the supplements, just want a reading copy in new shape without coffee stains.

I also just got Dark Horse Comics TPB for Tales of the Jedi. I have the Sith War. Just need to find Dark Lords of the Sith.

Also trying to find Boba Fett Enemy of the Empire at a decent price. Same for Mara Jade by the Emperor’s Hand and Shadows of the Empire TPB. I used to have all of these i have no idea what happened to them. Maybe someone borrowed them and never returned them.
