I’m not having an existential crisis, but I was drawn into the middle of this, and I didn’t want to be, how can I make that clear? Should I take it to private messages I guess I should and not derail thread further.
To be clear Luke is the heart of Star Wars for me, but that ship sailed with the prequel when Hayden Skywalker was made the heart of Star Wars. I’ll forever cherish Mark Hamill and the OT, but it’s like those Star Trek fans hoping Berman Trek is coming back at some point you have to realize things.
I hope the screenplay is good and the director did say she wanted to include something for long-term fans I wonder what that would be, a secret Mark Hamill cameo? If that was happening, I figured it would be in Dave’s movie.
The director said Rey is the heart of Star Wars and all the fandom menace are losing their darn minds. Despite the fact that Luke passed the lightsaber in the sequel trilogy, the whole point of making those movies was Luke passing the torch so to speak. The Disney trilogy isn’t getting retconned and Luke’s story purpose has been given to Rey, to those fans who object to this hoping for a retcon or a Luke academy series walk away Star Wars died ten years ago for you.
I’m not gatekeeping I’m just pointing out a simple fact that those type of news channels if you can even call them that are totally obtuse about.
I not super excited for this film to be honest but I want to keep an open mind and heart. I hope the trailer when it arrives is good and maybe even my nieces might like it.
I’m not at all interested in the politics of how things are made or what have you I just want to enjoy Star Wars. I have to avoid those channels in my feed the algorithm promotes.
Disney Music Emporium has the complete set of scores on CD for 150 and on vinyl for 300 for all 5 films. I can’t afford either because they made them for rich people and limited.

As to Thrawn being a good guy or it hinted that he was i never liked that aspect of the Duology or the other later Thrawn books which I need to reread Outbound Flight and Survivor’s Quest.

Return of the Jedi 70mm, wow the amount of vinegar syndrome at the start of this scan,lol. But the rest even with some fading was very enjoyable.
I also watched the technidisc pressing of Star Wars someone preserved, the amount of aliasing is ridiculous just on the crawl alone. But I guess it has nice but faded color.
The Fantasia 35mm was also fantastic watched that as well.

I also watched Superman again, the transfer is quite soft for a 4K I guess that is faithful to Unworth’s cinematography, which to my eye looks almost 2k. It’s not very sharp.
I was watching a video asking who would win in a rematch Yoda or Palpatine and it reminded me of how I never wanted either of them to ever have a lightsaber. Shouldn’t they be like super powerful wizards who don’t need anything but their mind to be deadly or just a motion of their hand to move an object, or to shoot lightning.

For what it’s worth people are illegally selling 4K versions of those fanedits/preservations, I would just as soon go into a store or online and legally purchase HDR and 4K copies from Lucasfilm. These sellers make thousands of dollars quite rapidly and once one site closes down or some site they are on kicks them off they just reappear.
I would like to own copies I didn’t download or burn myself, which I can’t do for 4K and I can only do 1080P and stream it off my external or watch it from there. because I don’t have a disk drive.
These people have been making quite likely into the hundreds of thousands off of fan projects, there is a market for legitimate releases, but Disney has to be not stupid.
But they are anti-consumer and anti-fan by putting everything into their streaming model so what the hell do I know.
I thought with the release of Cinderella and Snow White in 4K, and Andor and Obi-Wan they had changed their tune, maybe I was wrong.
I did like the New Jedi Knights series but to be honest it’s a junior novel series and I haven’t read them since the last volume was published by the Science Fiction Book Club, I have the hardback for.

There is a site. I found out about it on youtube, selling 4K discs of 4k77, 4k80 and 4k83. Not going to link. It seriously is bad for the community for people to do this. The Blu-Ray boots were bad enough but offering 4K and not just 4K but HDR copies as well, awful.
Edit: it’s not through youtube obviously it’s a webstore that sells bootlegs. They even call these despecialized when they are 4k versions of the 4k77, 4k80 and 4k83. And Harmy isn’t the one who did those they can’t even get basic facts right.

Lucas was going to make Leia not Rey the chosen one of the entire Saga. But he never made his sequel trilogy. I wonder if Leia taking over and ruling the Republic was in any way like the original idea for ROTJ where Leia became Queen of her people.
Still Luke running the Jedi religion and Leia running the government how does that work if the galaxy finds out Vader was their father. How do you prevent something like the first order from happening, which happened in Disney. or how does Luke prevent a student of his or several of them from going dark and upending everything.
I hate Star Wars becoming the Saga of Darth Vader rather than the Adventures of Luke Skywalker, I hate Luke being supplanted and replaced by Vader becoming the lead character. We are supposed to root for a wife killer and child murderer is that it?
Lucas totally lost his sense on the prequel, virgin birth, chosen one prophecy, rules on attachment, midichlorians, Whills, how can people take any of that at face value.

While I agree with your points overall, I wouldn’t want Star Wars to JUST be the Adventures of Luke Skywalker. The SW Universe is bigger than any Skywalker, Luke or Anakin.
Well I meant about the Saga as in the movies, sure the expanded universe and tv can go on tangents. For me nowadays I’m either just a Star Wars guy, or maybe an Empire guy and Jedi is subpar. The prequel is unnecessary backstory muddled and screwed over in the details. The Disney movies are almost like the Kelvin timeline of Star Trek for me, I can sort of enjoy them but they aren’t worthy of respect or time. They didn’t take the lore seriously because George didn’t in the prequel, so they were like what the hell, we will do what we want.
Maybe it’s for the best the canon is destroyed the very notion of canon might be stupid, if you thought about it too much.
Yoda says the dark side clouds everything, that is supposed to excuse their stupidity. Episode III is almost like Dark Helmet said about good being dumb.
Lucas hates the original that is the only reason it’s not available. I mean Vanilla Ice in Cool as Ice is on Blu-Ray, but not Star Wars doesn’t that seem absurd.
Though I’d like a 4K disc because I won’t settle for a Blu anymore. Its 2024 Not 2015.
The price is too high maybe when it comes down to earth and reality I will play it, I just started playing Battlefront II and Jedi Fallen Order on gamepass because its affordable.

Nice summation and without Hyperbole, but you didn’t mention Willow the tv series being erased from existence or Dial of Destiny flopping. And I disagree on Solo, I feel like Alden didn’t at all come off as Harrison. What Disney needs is a Star Wars film in the cinema that breaks a billion at the box office. If Dial can fail and Harrison was in it, what does that say about Lucasfilm? The same actor who was a draw when they made Force Awakens, couldn’t get people to see the 5th Indiana Jones film. And also the Rey movie isn’t going to have Harrison or Mark or Carrie to carry it, we shall see what the box office says on that one if it ever gets released.
As for the Acolyte itself I just got into the older shows on disc, when is Disney going to put out Mando season 3 and Ahsoka? Because I would have to sign up for Plus and other than some of the cartoon shows and maybe Light and Magic it doesn’t seem like all that good a deal at the price point for no ads.
I’ll give him credit for his interview with Paul Duncan that was excellent, but his video on the Special Edition and the prequel irritated me.
He does come at things from a pro George perspective, which can be off-putting to say the least.
As for the accuracy of Lucas statements in Star Wars archives or the accuracy of the research I can’t speak for that because it’s a 200-dollar book, which I don’t have.
Does anyone have the Semi Specialized Star Wars Episode IV?
There certainly are enhancements which I don’t condemn like cleaned up picture and sound, but I really dislike Han shooting second. I didn’t like the Ronto in frame I thought it was obnoxious. the Stormtroopers riding Banthas is fine. Replacing the awful Landspeeder shot, cardboard cutout in the Throne room, fixing misaligned rotoscope on lightsabers. The recomposites of original film pieces, not the cgi, is done so well I can’t complain. Creating a multi channel digital mix. All fine, the cgi new shots are almost always worse. Always hated the new cgi X-wings over the original effects.
The praxis ring when the death star blows up hate that too.
The Jabba scene I actually like, but it should have stayed out because it and the Greedo scene have repetitious dialog, relay the same information. Slows down the pace of the film. If Lucas wanted more Stormtroopers that Han was chasing he should have filmed them, I hate the CGI added ones.
I like Mark Hamill in Last Jedi, I appreciate the performance. When I didn’t like how Luke was written, but I liked the film visually, it’s hard to really nail down what was off with the movie. I still think a good episode 9 would have contributed greatly to making the narrative of episode 8 make sense. Having Luke say he was afraid seems to totally be out of sorts with the story Rian was telling. I think Luke purposefully took himself out of the fight, and cut himself off from the force, wanted the Jedi to end. I don’t think it was fear. He saw the prequel Jedi as colossal failures and arrogant, they let the Emperor rise to power and OBI-Wan created Darth Vader.

I hated the Black Fleet Crisis trilogy where Luke builds a tower/castle and sulks, refuses to train Leias kids, pretty much jake Skywalker. And some women shows up who claims she knows his mom, who wasn’t Padme. Its a total waste of time.
in the end battle he even refuses to wield a lightsaber, not even when he is supposed to save Han will he use violence.
Its some really weird story with this new force discipline called the white current.
The one other book that doesn’t feel like Star Wars at all and is totally weird other than the Crystal Star, is that unpublished book the Heart of the Jedi.
Is it unpopular to pretty much hate everything that happened after Vision of the Future. I like Luke and Mara settling down together maybe they have one or more children based on Vision of the Future, I even like Ben. But all the grimdark stuff from the Vong, to killing Anakin Solo, making Jacen Hayden Skywalker and killing him, and killing Mara I despise.
I want a complete reboot of the EU from Vision on, don’t mind if Jacen and Tenel Ka have a kid, that is about the only thing other than Ben Skywalker I’d keep. Yes it means Cade and Legacy would be erased, or at least they’d have to go in a different direction than the Vong and return of the Sith.
Mandalorians wouldn’t be the mary sues of the universe, Jedi would eschew all prequelisms, no mention of the rules on attachment period. And Daala would never be chancellor.
