Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

I am asking myself what is Lucas actually thinking with digital scans of his films? As far I understand - Episodes 2 and 3 are stuck on 1080p (is 1080p similar to 2K?) so there is nothing he can do. Episode 1 was shoot on 35 mm tape and theoretical the best possible scan can be 4K, but all FX was done on 2K, so it's impossible to achieve anything more than 2K scan?

As for the OT - 1997 SE is only 2K right? And 2004 SE only 1080p?

So why such very important films are preserved at such low resolution? I am saying low, because now we have 1080p at home, but what will be when we get 4K? And when theathers will show films in 8K? There will be no possibility to enjoy Star Wars in such beautiful quality... I don' understand Lucas - I know he don't want the original trilogy to be preserved, but why his loved SE is stuck at 1080p? Is it still possibly to do 4K scans of the OT? I mean both the SE and original from 77-83.

And why were Episode 2 and 3 shot only in 1080p?

Someone said that for BD release Lucas will use scans from 2004 - what is bad about them for BD release? - I know the colors are bad, but what is about quality? I though those scans will be enough for BD, but only for BD...  I heard the Episode 2 and 3 on DVD where already captured from digital source, so it's does not matter if the BD Episodes 2 and 3 will be from the same master as DVD. And as for Episode 1, Adywan said there is already new master used for future releases so there is hope it will no suck.

As for 8K scans - whats the point of scanning the 35 mm prints into 8K? I though the best possible resolution of 35 mm film is the 4K scan?

I am noob in this area, so thats why I am asking.

The funny thing about restoring OT is that Lucas even doesn't have to transfer digital all three films, but only those scenes, which where changed in SE. So restoring, about what, 15% of all three films cost so much money? Funny. Some people from here would do it for free, only if he would give them all tools and prints.

We can't lose our hopes. Im sure one day we will se OT properly restored in it's original form.

But, I must say that we have catched Lucas on another lie. Few years ago, he said that all prints all lost and so on. But now he say that it is to expensive to transfer them into digital versions - what means - the prints are not lost, there are only not transfered to digital. Let's wait till he will milk enough money from this BD set and then he will transfers the prints into digital technology.

WOW!

That was really powerful! Sidious is full of the dark side. I loved it! Great.

I laughed so hard at your explanation of the jedi order. Your description of them as carnival was really good.

I have one suggestion: Cut out C-3P0 talking with Padme. It's really unnecessary there and ruins the pace of the movie.

I still can't believe that Lucas fucked this movie so much! With his experience as a movie maker and so on, how could he not see such obvious amateur mistakes? I'm sure the bad moments of prequel trilogy had nothing to do with actors. I think it is all fault of Lucas. The actors never knew what they have to act. And no matter what they did, Lucas was for sure always satisfied with their performace.

Thank so much! Your edit is gonna be the greatest of all fan edits of ROTS.

Waiting for your next videos!

The Cutter - You have done excellent job minimalizing Lucas bad ideas. In official version of the movie it makes not sense at all! If the end of war depends on capturing or killing Grevious then why the Jedi send no 1000 of their knights and millions of clones troopers? Why does Obi Wan have to fight him alone and risk so much his life? This sequence is much a joke... it's like from a stupid video game: He jumps, says hello and doesn't care. There is no drama at all. McGregor is smilling, jumping making bad jokes, it is so bad... Anyway you have done fantastic minimalizing this stupid sequence, but as I said before - you can't repair everything.

One idea to the music in your part 6:

In 6:16 there is dual of the fates - i think you could replace it from this second to this:

I mean from the 2:21 minute :

The choir would make it better :). Basically you should let everything like it is, but from the 6:16 minute on your video, replace the rest of the duel with music from the the video I linked here, but from the 2:21 minute in the video I linked.

Looking forward to Sidious reveal and the fight between Mace and Palpatine.

The Cutter- Thanks for your answer. I cannot wait to see what you have prepared for us.

Anyway, there are also many things which did bother me in this movie the whole time. Three of them are:

The conversation between Anakin and Palpatine, where comes to reveal who Palpatine really is. When Anakin says to him "You are a Sith Lord!", Palpatine answer is "I know what has been troubling you. Listen to me." When I heard this first time I was like - WTF? No logic at all. Besides it was poorly delivered by both actors. It was like there where talking about weather, not about the identity of a long searched Sith Lord.

Next one is when Anakin on Mustafar used the force grip on Padme. His expression was laughable. Obi-Wan's too. He is choking Padme and Obi-Wan is simply slow going down and saying so boring "LET.... HER.... GO...." . I got the feeling that Ewan McGregor simply didn't care.  I have waited many years for this conversation between Obi-Wan and Anakin before the fight, and it was so screwed.... I can't believe how much. And it's so boring!

I hope you will also cut this pathetic "only a sith deals in absolutes" - haha.

What do you think about them?

And what about music? Are you planing something extra? It would be cool if would replace some moments with someting emotional, because I think John Williams didn't put so much effort in this movie, like it was with original trilogy.

Did you see this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOHPhrNaE58

Something like that would be great!

The Cutter - I really appreciate your job, but cutting so much errors simply doesn't work. Everything goes to quickly and no one besides the fans would understand whats going on.

I know this movie is not possible to repair without some extra footage, but cutting all errors, bad cgi, poor dialogue etc. doesn't help it. ROTS is so bad, that if you want to cut all bad things, you would have to cut half of the movie. Try to slow the pace of the action - even if you must leave some errors in. Anyway, congrats for your effort. It was very nice to hear the force theme before the fight between Dooku, Obi-Wan and Anakin. More such things please!

I've really enjoyed Adywan's work, but some of you are starting to do the same garbage as Lucas did with the OT. You see, many of peoples here are blaming Lucas for the whole SE stuff and changes, but are you not starting do the same as he did? What's the point of putting more and more things on the screen? And really, your proposed color correction is as bad as the 2004 DVD's. Why not simply put the colors from the original version, fix the lightsabers and that's all?

At the beginning I was pleased with the revisited idea, but now it is going in wrong direction. It's going in even worse direction than Lucas did. I though you simply loved the original trilogy. Only thing what was missing there were quality and colors. If this two things are done, I don't see any point of making another PT-garbage with OT. On your place I would left it, wait till Adywan fix important things and enjoy my life.

And remember - I am not attacking you. I simply don't understand this whole Lucas blaming if your doing then even worse garbage than he did and then saying "I loved the unchanged OT".

Sorry for my poor english, but I'm not a native english speaker.
