That was actually Finn’s first mission as stormtrooper. It’s confirmed later in the movie when he confesses to Rey who he really is. He says to her, “On my first battle, I made a choice : I wasn’t going to kill for them.” So even though Finn was a stormtrooper, he had never actually killed anyone at that point in his life.

i realize that, however i dont know if i like the fisheye lens and shaky-cam they do once Finn’s buddy is killed. that is what i would be trimming.

just the basics that most people are doing. overall i was very please with the movie but just a few things kinda bothered me. this is a short list of things i was planning:

• New crawl that mentions the First Order’s possession of the Starkiller, and to make the crawl less personal with names and such
• remove all hints to Kylo being related to Solo/Skywalker until the end (so the Lor San Tekka convo, Snoke convo, ect.)
• possibly trim Finn’s reaction to the village and his “friend” being killed (i can understand him becoming overwhelmed, but he is a stormtrooper and you’d think he would be used to death)
• Cut the line where Kylo calls Vader “grandfather”
• move the destruction of the Hosnian System to the end after Han dies.
• possibly muddy up Phasma’s voice. (IMHO her lines sound to clean. Her voice would be distorted like the rest of the stormtroopers)
• trim some “fan service” scenes
• cut scene where stormtroopers turn and walk away when Kylo is throwing a temper tantrum
• depending on how EP8 starts, I may end the movie early when Rey takes off in the Falcon and leave the Luke reveal for EP8 (there have been a few reports that EP8 will start where TFA ended)

as far as the Falcon cannon sounds go, i think i would still like for them to sound the way that they did in ANH since this is the only movie where they are fired.

to me the ANH Cannons have a “sprinkler” sound to it, which is usually attributed to the TIE fighter but the sound in TFA has a deep “thwip” sound to it.

So now that TFA has hit the shelves and our dvd/bluray players, i have been watching it a lot. As with some of you here, i have been planning my own Edit of TFA, and one of the thing that i have been thinking of doing is redoing some of the sound effects. Most notably during the Falcon/Tie Fighter chase. I noticed that the guns on the Falcon have a very different sound to them compared to ANH. I have scoured the internet for the very specific sound that i hear from ANH and i have been unable to find anything that sounds like it in any database or youtube video, or even the SW official soundboard. so my question is this, does anyone here know where i can find an accurate sound effect for the Falcon?

im not sure about the res (i am assuming you mean resolution?). they are both 1080p, so i dont know if that is what you mean by res? but that would be awesome if the file size came out to be the same.

If you’re only making a few small edits and have a decent machine, you can import the 264 streams from KK650’s release directly into editing software like Adobe’s. There’s an establishing shot of one of the Rathtars dragging one of the members of Kanjiklub or the other gang before Finn get’s dragged off by one of them.

your right, however, i just think the fact that Finn survives as long as he does is a bit of a stretch.

so i am currently planning prequel edit of TPM AOTC and ROTS. i have already almost completed my AOTC edit and i am going to be working on TPM. however, the file i am working with for this project is KK650’s regraded version since he has color corrected and added film grain to it (which saves me some time). this file is 22gb and to edit it i have to re-encode it with Lagorith Lossless codec, which will make the file size bigger, but i am not sure how much bigger it will be though. the version of AOTC that i am using is KK650’s as well but it is the 8gb version so after the LAGS encode it was only 70gb, which is manageable. but a 22gb file is going to be well over that and i am worried that i may run out of space. my only option is to re-encode the 22gb file with an encoder where i can control the file size, and then re-encode again with LAGS.

i guess my question is, is there a way to find out about how big 22gb file size will be after encoding with LAGS?

i think that i may have figured out how to make this work.

• after Rey has her vision and runs off, instead of cutting to Hux’s motivational speech/firing of the starkiller/and the reactions, we just cut to Rey running in the woods.
• the movie proceeds as scripted until…
• we get to the part of the movie where the Starkiller is charging and stealing the power from the sun.
• now we re-insert Hux’s speech.
• Cut him saying “…fire!”
• Cut to the power of the sun slowly being drained to power the Starkiller.
• then sometime after Han dies the Starkiller is fired.

I think that if it is done right this could really make the movie better than what it already is IMHO. it is definitely on my list of edits i would like to make to TFA.

the one thing that drives me batty in TFA is how Finn get captured by the Rathtar and doesn’t get eaten by these terribly “dangerous” creatures. i mean we are given this whole scene where Finn, Rey, Han and Chewie are talking about how they are so dangerous, and how the whole crew of Han’s new freighter were killed by them. Then when one of our heroes is grabbed by one of them he manages to not die???

just the other trailers from Empire and Jedi. i may used them as extras for my edit dvds

this indeed is frustrating, but from the sound of it, these “deleted scenes” aren’t really gonna add much to the movie. i think my first edit will just be a few trims here and there. just to remove some of the obvious “fanservice” and overly silly/meta jokes. these were my only real complaints. besides the opening music and the crawl. maybe one day we will get some real deleted scenes.

i may even try using the same technique that Ady did in ANH:R in the cantina scene where he made the alien’s faces move. i think if done right i can make Carrie Fisher’s face emote more. she looked like a puppet.

so i just tried removing it and it didnt work out so well. i think in some shots, you could roto it out and zoom in ant it will be okay. in other shots it won’t. i think that even if we dont get a an extended version, there will be a way around it. it wont be perfect but it will work. i kinda wish that the version with the box lines was what we were getting instead. at least then you could zoom in and wire remove the lines

so now that we are close to the release, i have been planning my edit of the movie. i just thought that i would run my version of the crawl passed you guys to see what you think, if there are places that need improvement or rewording:

i believe that this is actually how the deleted scenes will look on the blu ray. based on this:

i just want to say that this is not my contribution, i found it on reddit. if this is breaking a rule i will remove it.

but it looks like it is just gonna be a time code in the top left, which i don’t believe will be that hard to remove. it is a box. all you have to do is screen-shot some frames before and after, put them together in photoshop/gimp and keyframe them into the video via after effects. that is a lot easier to do with the burned in time code than it is with the box watermarks.

It’s funny, because what you appeared to be asking is if you would still get to see Revisited if Ady died before finishing it. Whichever way you want to cut it, that’s a pretty selfish and downright rude thing to ask, and it absolutely warranted the scorn it received. If you genuinely cannot see anything wrong with your original question then I suggest you go back and read it again.

i apologize if my post original post seemed insensitive. however, there ARE nicer ways of bringing this to a persons attention. there is no need to belittle someone.

after looking at my original post i understand why there was such backlash to my comments. death was a just the most extreme thing that came to mind when i originally asked my question. i was, in a non-serious way, trying to find out if he had plans for the future in case he could not complete his vision. of course if Ady would pass on the last thing i would honestly be upset about would be not seeing his completed edits. he has given so much to this community and inspired a lot of people including myself and i appreciate all he has done.

i thought that my post would be clear. obviously i was wrong. my apologies for the confusion and if my question was considered to be rude. i will remove the post and hopefully we can all move on.
