Sounds like an issue with your usenet provider. Everything's complete on Giganews...

Yeah, been a while. Got it sorted out. Thanks so much for posting that Edit Droid set!

Alien Appendix #3: The Alien Archive (Released)
Time
Anything I get I usually fold over three times. Five if there is a real demand for the item. I remember back when Rev sent me that first bootleg telecine DVD, I sent out like nine of those. LOL. Wasn't quite up on the whole PIF game at that point and got a bit raped. (But hopefully those folks kept it going.) But yeah... most of the time I hear people send out to at least three more people once they get something.

No problem waiting on the Myspleen torrent. Wish the second appendix disc was still being seeded, though. I got in on this set late.

The "EditDroid" Trilogy DVD Info and Feedback Thread (Released)

Just got disc one of this burned and I was amazed at the very slick menus. Weren't there versions of the Making Of's released (talking fan projects, not the VHS and Beta's) that didn't have the subs on them? I almost wanna say it was Rikter's release? (Or was it Gonzo's? God I am getting old!)

Again, these are very nice discs and I do look forward to seeing the menu designs on the others once I get them downloaded. Great, great job!

Star Wars: REBORN - The Complete Saga (* unfinished project *)

Dunno... I take from this that they were upset about your use of images, etc. on the myspace page. I really don't think they were talking about persuing legal action should they see your fan edit released to the community as a freely distributed fan activity. They have never once taken action against any of the other fan edits to hit the scene. I just think that your distribution of images and video via the myspace community got their attention. I have also heard of some of the many Labyrinth character myspace pages being contacted with a similar form letter. I understand your enthusiasm in wanting to get information about the edit out to those who might be interested beyond the ot.com community, but I do know that any myspace page that carries copywritten images can be hit. But I think it is a matter of someone very jealous of your talents ratting you out. Because I have heard numerous times that, much like eBay and unlike YouTube, myspace relies on its own members to police the activity of other members. They don't have a myspace police that sits there looking at pages to see who has copywritten images and who doesn't.

In any event, I hope you at least complete the edit for yourself as it seems a waste to simply let it die completely. And in a year or two when the heat dies down, like you said, perhaps it could hit the newsgroups or torrents, perhaps even under a different name so as not to directly tie it back to you.

Again, I completely understand your position as it is kind of scary to get your first C&D form letter, but I read it and all I see is that they didn't appreciate your "advertising" the project via myspace. The community here is one thing. While a fantastic and creative community, it is VERY small when all is considered by LFL. But when they see the thing being talked about within a community of 150 million plus, that takes things to a whole other level.

No matter what you decide, those were great trailers and I really hope to see the finished project in some form down the road.

Good luck!

You know what really sucks is when you know you had a set of discs and then you go to make cases for your sets and realize that in your last move, one of the sets somehow got "misplaced". I found both my New Hope discs (Mono and Regular releases) but somehow my Empire and Jedi are gone with the wind. Gonna have to dig them up as I love, love, love the EditDroid Trilogy.

Grabbing the new sups discs off of absw right now (thanks MoveAlong!!). Can't wait to see what is new on these as I loved the previous Rowman sups discs.

One man Star Wars show
Time
I highly recommend this to everyone! This guy was one of the highlights of Celebration III. I was able to tape the opening ceremonies and he did part of his show there. Everyone I show it to dies laughing. It is truly hilarious. Wish he would release a tape of the show for people to purchase as I would love to share the entire show with my friends and family. Hopefully he comes to the midwest soon.

New: Making of Star Wars Book - Preview
Time
I do like this quote, though...

"George Lucas's first recorded thoughts on the Expanded Universe. I didn't know if he'd want us to print those, as they differ from what came after, but he said it was okay!"

That gives some hope that this will be allowed to be what it should be and that is a look at the state of things as they were at the time the film was being produced. I am very excited to see what this becomes. And you won't have to shell out $75.00 for the hardcover. Amazon has it for $47 with free shipping. Only damn problem I have going there is that I ALWAYS end up buying something else! LOL. Anyone picked up that Sculpting A Galaxy book? I am looking at grabbing that as well.

It SOUNDS like there will be some real meat in there. If Rinzler was allowed to include what he wanted as far as the interviews that Lippincott conducted back in the 70's, as well as a lot of the information he found on his own through interviewing Hellman, Tong and Pollack (strange that there is no mention of Ladd Jr. and that they claim an inside view from Fox has never been explored as Ladd has been interviewed numerous times on what was going on behind closed doors at the studio), then this could really be a nice book to slip in front of Once Upon A Galaxy to form the Making Of trilogy on my bookshelf. For years that space has been occupied by Skywalking and Empire Building. The making of books from back in the day took a kind of warts and all approach to the subject from what I remember (been a few years since I read them). But sadly with the current state of LFL, I highly doubt that any kind of REAL look at Lucas' 70s-state-of-mind will be allowed to be released in an official form. Look at how Lucas treats any interview he did pre-SE. He laughs it off as if it was media bias and says that everything he said back then was taken out of context. While this certainly could be the case in some instances, the guy acts like the entire world was out to get him back then and that he didn't say ANYTHING that he is quoted as saying. He will even sit there and dispute quotes caught on video in his OWN LFL produced vintage documentaries! But, Empire Of Dreams was good and there have been a few other recently produced docs that touched on some of the real troubles that were going on back then. So who knows. This thing could end up being a really good read. I PRAY that they don't chop down the Lippincott interviews TOO much. Other than the BTS photos, those will be my most looked forward to aspects of this release.

Shit... now I feel like starting with Skywalking and reading all the way through the Making of Sith. Heheh.

Howard The Duck - special edition (Released)
Time
Hey, DJ. It was your Howard The Duck release that got my ass back on this forum to check out what else I had been missing since being gone for so long working two jobs. I took a look at the trouble you went through getting this thing released and I just wanted to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! I had a little trouble with the DL version that i grabbed from myspleen, but once I shrunk it and burned an SL copy, I was good to go. And the memories flowed from there. I must have sat through this thing at least ten times in the theater and sitting there watching your DVD, I was eleven years old again!

So, thank you again so much for the work you put into these releases. You have come a long way since I made those crappy King Kong covers for you back in the day. Heheh. Good job, buddy. And please, I beg you to keep up the good work. We ALL appreciate it!

Do you legally own the OOT?
Time
I have just about every release that LFL has put out of the OOT, starting with the original Video Rental Library clamshell VHS and Beta releases. All the VHS, all the Beta, all the CED's, all the LD's, the VCD's, box sets, singles, vintage docu's... you name it, it is most likely in my glass case. Though, I haven't slid that door open since displaying everything last year. And I haven't opened some of those things in YEARS! I really should run through the tapes to keep them from gumming. Not to mention checking the LD's for rot. But... yeah. I kinda made collecting the video releases my hobby when there wasn't anything else to collect.
