Movies generally considered "bad" that you like.

Frankenstein meets the Wolfman, that’s another film I often see written off as cheap, poorly written, inferior to its predecesors, etc. Like so many films with troubled post-productions, I’m certain most of its problems come from it being mercilessly cut to shreds. The finished product still features stellar performances by Channey and Lugosi (what remains of his footage, that is), as well as some beautiful cinematography.

Secret of the Incas.

Though seriously, Temple of Doom is my favorite, while the other two are tied. Really depends on my mood, though more often than not I prefer Crusade, primarily because of SeanConnery and Julian Glover.

Now what about the scores? In that case Crusade takes the cake. You can’t go wrong with the Grail theme, the “wise old man” theme, the Nazi march, the Nazi march, and the stereotypical Venetian music.

The Movies You Would Like To See Made (Not SW)

Actually faithful adaptations of Greek myths. Especially that of Perseus and Andromeda, as neither Clash of the Titans does justice to its source material. A really good Heracles (not Hercules) film is long overdue, too.

Gore Vidal’s Caligula as his author envisioned it, with realistic Roman architecture and costuming.

The unmade Nottingham script. Oh boy, talk about a missed opportunity.

Speaking of removing characters completely, I was thinking of an Anakinless (and possibly Tatooine-less) Episode I. In my ideal PT, the Prophecy would be entirely absent; and the focus wouldn’t be Anakin’s downfall, rather Palpatine’s rise. As such, it’s not really necessary to have Anakin at all in Episode I.

In a heavily re-worked Episode II, the introductory scene could be the speeder chase. The sequence could be turned into one unrelated to the main plot ala Indy’s intros, that would instead serve to establish Anakin and Obi-Wan as friends, and to start the movie with a bang.

Another possible intro for the character would be his frolicking with Padme in Naboo (minus the turd monsters), so their romance is already underway when the movie begins. I’m pretty sure most of their scenes together can be edited into an idyllic sequence, ideally they’re not in hiding. Padme would not be targeted, and Anakin would be on shore leave; before being called into action by the Council, which would not forbid love.

Animation:
Mask of the Phantasm - Need I say more?
Batman & Mr. Freeze Sub-zero - Arguably the best movie with Mr. Freeze in it, if that counts.
Mystery of the Batwoman - Not so much a mystery, but what can one do about it?
Batman vs. Dracula - Absolute horseshit. Can remember anything from it, other than Alfred looking bored.

I take it you haven’t seen Batman Beyond - The Return of the Joker then. Check that shit out for sure. My favorite animated Batman flick and actually my second favorite overall Batman movie.

I was never awfully interested in Batman Beyond, but I did see the flashback sequence, which is great.

I suppose we could also include the 3 part episode Batman And Superman: World’s Finest, since it’s advertised as a movie in some places. It was a mountain of meh.

Live action:
Batman Returns - Not really a Batman film, but still the best movie with the word Batman in the title. Classic Burton, if there ever was one.
Batman '89 - Not as good as above, but silly and fun none the less.
Batman '66 - I prefer the really good chapters from the TV show, but it’s an overall decent effort.
The Dark Knight - Far too stuck up its own ass, albeit not as incoherent as
The Dark Knight Rises - No, it does not work as an arthouse film, either. It’s too stupid for that.
Batman Begins - I’m always bored to tears with this one.
Batman & Robin - Most people agree it’s too silly, I think it’s not silly enough.
Batman Forever - It’s all over the place. I’d like to see the rough cut, though.

Animation:
Mask of the Phantasm - Need I say more?
Batman & Mr. Freeze Sub-zero - Arguably the best movie with Mr. Freeze in it, if that counts.

Not sure if this was brought up before, but what if Palpatine wasn’t working the Feds and Separatists? Instead of fabricating a crisis to gain power, the invasion is “real” and he sees it as a chance to rise. Surely there are ways to go around this, and it would solve the entire galaxy looking like idiots for not finding out he was behind it all.

A bolder move even, would be to have Palpatine begin his reign with good intentions, becoming progressively more decadent until he has formed the Empire. It would have to be done in a way that realistically leads to him gleefully torturing people with lightning decades later.
