Extreme Prequel Plot Holes And Inconsistencies
Time

It always seemed to me that twist was meant to cash-in with Vader’s own revelation, and on its downside it shrunk that universe further. However, it’s not enough to ruin the movie for me, as the payoff to that sisterhood is Luke’s brief taste of the Dark Side, which is one the better scenes in the trilogy. The progression of the Skywalker/Vader narrative, while bumpy still managed to provide a satisfiying whole despite its improvised nature.

George Lucas - your opinions of him? a general discussion thread

I agree some of the deleted material is fairly cringey. However, what remains in the finished film does come across competent filmmaking. Editing improved, the music and sound design made potentially boring scenes more interesting, but when I see fragments of the workprint I see material that needs work, not necessarily a doomed production. Raw footage hardly seems convincing in any film.

Deleted Magic and the recreation of the original climax does reveal it to be less exciting than what we ultimately got, but I doesn’t like something in the same level as the prequels.

Are the people here of the opinion that George was never talented, or do you guys think it’s more of a Francis Ford Coppola situation where he just lost his touch?

The second. Star Wars is a fine film. It is often said that it was saved in editing, and that the first cut was terrible, but I simply can’t picture the editors turning a really bad film into the one we know today. If anything, post-production enhanced material that was already in place.

ANDREAS presents: Star Wars - Episode I - The Ancient Lore [Remade]
Time

You’re making the underwater city the actual sanctuary? It’s great to see that finally implemented in an edit. It always bothered the so called “safer place” where Gungans took refuge was nearer to the invaded zone, and in broad daylight. Reminds me of that Scorpion King movie where a bunch of people was “hidden” in a plainly visible oasis, and were like “you people are bringing the enemy” when the zeroes arrived there.

Introducing Star Wars to young children
Time

The best way to introduce someone who’s never seen Star Wars, is introduce these people through OOT, in whatever format that can be found (Harmy, GOUT, VHS, etc), and neglect to mention anything other Star Wars media. Should children discover the prequels, sequels, and shitquels on their own, you must be prepared. They’ll ask about them. The initial response must be to tell them those movies are boring, try to make them as unnatractive as possible. If they still ask to see them, show it to them, but try to achieve rejection, without explictitly forbiding them boys to watch those movies. Mind you, avoid traumatizing them, as that’d be bad parenthood.

A good strategy, for instance, picture the text about “Trade Taxations of the Trade Routes” appearing, use this oportunity to explain the children in detail what taxation is and talk them about the economy. Every time Qui-gon says something stupid, you can make a quip like “children, don’t be like this man”.

If that doesn’t work, try unleashing a disgusting hodor around the house, so they’ll relate the experience of watching those films to such unpleasantness. Serving a foul meal when they watch the film can also work.

FAN EDIT REQUEST THREAD - Post your dream Fan Edits Here!

Alt text

I know there have been some edits of The Lord of the Rings, which seek to alter Jackson’s trilogy into something more in line with Tolkien’s book(s). However, something just as interesting would be reconstruct the films’ original cuts, before the pick-ups took place and the storyline was altered. It’s known to us the extended cuts still omit much footage, of which we’ve seen fragments in trailers, featurettes and stills.

While the shooting scripts are nowhere to be found (only transcripts matching the finished films are available), it could be possible, thanks to the clues found in the audio commentaries and liner notes from the OST, to try and put the available scenes back into their original sequence. Explainatory cards and subtitles could fill in any unavailable footage.
