The Official Lucasfilm Response
Time
I like how it says on the card "Though eye witnesses at the cantina reported conflicting accounts of who shot first, none were sober enough to offer anything approaching an accurate discription."

So all us fans are drunken slobs who can't get Han's name right?

"So...so's I says to sis guy, "Look man, you don't know nuthin! I was-s-s there, and they were all like 'whoa' and I-was-all-like 'dude'. And then theres weres this laz-her blas, and oh man! It was nuts! Oh man, that Hans Solo gots a butt that won't quit, malhHGhlah... they's got these big chewy pretzels here....erfffbll...five dollars?! Get out of here...."

We have to buy this set atleast to preserve it for the next generation of fans
Time
I don't own the special edition and contemplate every day selling back my PT for cash at the mall. My children and my friends will only watch the OOT. That is all that is at my house.

And I've noticed a decline in PT references on TV and yet a steady pace of OT references. Shows how much of the universe is retained in our memories. I know that Family Guy has only referenced the OT and I see it staying that way. I did, however, catch an Episode III reference in a "Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy" episode yesterday. They were at a football game and Mandy was the head cheerleader for some reason. She needed to get the team to win the game but they were going to have to go about it differently.

Mandy: "We are going to have to resort to cartoonish antics to win this game."
Erwin: "Is it possible to learn this power?"
Mandy: "Not from a coach."
You then hear, as a sound effect, Luke's lightsaber quickly igniting.

The sound effect is what did it for me. I was so totally caught off-guard that my burst of laughter came out as a fat man's wheeze before I started to guffaw. It was so random, that is why I loved it. My lungs hurt from the force of my first burst of laughter.

But to balance out the Star Wars references, during their Christmas episode, Billy and Mandy head towards the north pole (to stab Santa with a wooden stake or something). They get there and Billy runs into a cave near by screaming "Santa!" He gets in there and see Luke hanging upside down screaming. The Wampa comes into the shot and now Billy is screaming as he runs out of the cave. I died laughing there too.

Upcoming release German covers!
Time
Looks like the French are getting the same covers as us Americans. And I like the covers they are giving us. Okay, I would have prefered that they actually get the posters themselves instead of "real life" copies of the posters, but whatever. The only thing that I don't like is the ROTJ one. It seems a little empty. And they got the Leia picture wrong. The shot of her in the poster looks more like this:
http://www.officialpix.com/estore/prodimages/photos/MCH_IA_59_R.jpg

The stance that they have here on the cover looks more like she is bored. I've never like that shot. It doesn't do her the justice she deserves. That slave girl costume was exotic.

I disagree. I don't think the original love for Star Wars will die with us. For once thing, many of us are in our early 20's. I never saw the originals in the theater, but I love them as if I did. My younger brother was born in '87 and he love only the originals.

Time will test the temper of the material that Star Wars is made off. The original is a classic and will be remember as so. No mater how much Lucas alters it, the fact remains that the extra scenes were not there for 20 years. If taught in a film class, the originals have to be used because it would be a lie if taught otherwise. Hell, even a reference to it from the 70's and 80's will have to have original scenes, otherwise it wouldn't make sense. The death star explosion did not have a ring around it in 1977. You can't show a scene like that say on "That 70's Show." You have to show the original.

There are too many film purists out there, us included, that won't let this die. I myself am only 23 and don't plan on dieing any time soon. So if you say that this is the last generation, well, techincally there have only been 2 generations so far. By the time I'm 80, hopefully there will be more generations that loved the originals as much as me.

You can already see that there is very little love for Episode I, by fans and the mass public. Episode II has hardly any mention anymore and given that Episode III is fairly new, I'll say it will die out with time just like first two. What holds the test of time? Well, ESB for one. That movie sustained the least amount of changes and is reguarded as most fans favorite. That thing is bullet proof.

We are not the LAST generation. We are the FIRST. And it won't die with us.

Alternate Endings For The Trilogy....
Time
And during that Vader/Luke montage we need to have the Hanson song "Mmm, Bop" playing.

Alternate story line:

C 3PO: "Don't call me a mindless philosopher, you overweight glob of grease!"
Shots are fired and 3PO ducks inside the escape pod.
C 3PO: "I'm going to regret this."

Star Destroyer Bridge

Officer: "Sir, there goes another one."
Commander: "Shoot it down Lt. We can't take any changes; life signs or no."

The droids never reach the planet and are never sold to Luke’s family. Luke sees his best friend off but never sees him again.
The Princess is taken to the Death Star’s bridge where she witnesses the destruction of her planet. She is then promptly executed with no one there to rescue her.
Luke, having never gotten the chance to leave his planet and denied the opportunity to go to the academy, accidentally crashes his speeder into a rock face during a drag race leaving nothing behind but a charred dent in the cliff.
Han, who never teamed up with Luke and Obi-Wan, gets shot in the back on some dirty planet where his bounty is quickly collected.
Obi-Wan, grief stricken with the death of the Jedi’s last hope and the destruction of the rebellion, spends his remaining days on Tatooine in shady bars and slums, using his Jedi Mind Trick to bum credits off whinos. In a drunken stupor, in some dingy back alley, he chokes to death on his own vomit.
Vader then rules the galaxy forever. The end.

I know! John Williams is amazing. You can hear that it is the Emperor's theme, but it's mixed with the passion of Luke's theme and grows more and more...what is the word I'm looking for?
It's like almost as if you were there witnessing the battle it would be as if you were standing below in some valley and you look up at these two black figures fighting above on the hill. Your neck is craned up and your jaw open, and as you witness this father and son pair swinging to kill each other, your eyes well up with tears.

I don't think that there is a word for that.

Luke's rope-throwing talents in EP4
Time
Here is the section from the book:

Red Leader's voice shouted back over the headphones. "I get no reading, are you sure?"
"Pull up!" Lando commanded. "All craft pull up!"
He banked hard to the left, the fighters of the Red Squad veering close to his tail. Some didn't make it. Three flanking X-Wings nicked the invisible deflector shield, spinning out of control, exploding in flames along the shield surface. None of the others paused to look back.

Yeah, same here. Everything in the EU reeks of "fan-fiction" no mater how well writen they may be. I did read the first book of the X-Wing series and it was okay because it had nothing to do with the main characters, but it still felt forced and a little out of place with the whole Star Wars universe.

Star Wars books have an aura about them that makes them seem more like "Star Trek" than Star Wars. And no sir, I don't like it.

(though I am a fan of Star Trek, but I like to keep my Stars separate.)

You read my mind, man.

Alternate 1:

Luke drags Vaders hulking corpes across the Death Star hanger bay.
Vader: "Luke, help me take this mask off."

Luke: "But you'll die."

Vader: "Kid, I've been living in this suit for over 20 years. Don't you think I would know if it would kill me or not. I'll be fine for a couple of minutes. Haven't you ever seen The Empire Strikes Back? Sheesh."

Luke obliges, and then recoils in horror.
Luke: "Holy shit! Dad! What the hell happend to you?!"

Vader: "Your punk ass mentor left me for dead on a some god-forsaken lava planet, that's what!"
He then clams himself.
Vader: "Now go my son. Leave me."

Luke: "Okay."
He starts to leave.

Vader: "Whoa, come back here you little bitch! And put my mask back on."

Luke then takes Vader to meet the rest of the Rebels at the party on Endor. Vader is then shot by Han on sight.

Luke: "Dude, what the hell! That was my dad!"

Han: "Yeah I know, I heard. Pretty good burn though, huh?"

Luke: "Yeah."

Freeze frame on everyone standing around laughing. The end.

Alternate 2:

Luke after burning his now dead father, walks off into the sunset on the forest moon of Endor, with the song "Don't you forget about me" playing us into the credits.

Oh that is disgusting. You just made the movie jump from PG to R right there, mister.

And Z6PO, I was thinking the exact same thing last night. Then I remembered that they were captured by the Star Destroyer. I have a feeling that they (if they were even alive anymore) were not on the Death Star. It's more of a floating battle ship rather than a giant bug-zapper. I don't think they have THAT many holding cells. Not like an emperial prison might. I think all those people get sent to Kessel.

No shit! Thank you! Someone else thinks so too! I, and I kid you not, cry every time I see that scene. I mean, for someone who knows it coming a tear will still fall down my cheek. And kudos to John Williams for that heart breaking music right there too.

I also get goose bumps every time I hear the music during the scene where Luke's rage takes over and he wails on Vader in the passionate father-son dual. I was on the bus listening to it and I noticed the little hairs all over my legs and arms were standing straight up. It was 82 degrees in there.

I just read that chapter too. It is creepy. Really makes you wonder how much other people are lying to us other than George Lucas.

Correction: THE most brilliant work he has done. I mean, damn I must have been 14 by the time I found out that he was providing the voice. I didn't believe it and had to watch the animated movie again to just verify it. I think I told my dad and he was all like, "No way!" and I was all like "Yea-huh!" and he was all like "dude, that is awesome!" and I was all like "Yeah, I know!"

Lastly, I know they're tech films, but way too much green and blue screen shooting. You have to give these poor folks something to work with that allows them to believe that they're a part of this world. You can't just show them a sketch and say, "this is what it'll look like".

I rag on the actors a wee bit, but I don't hold anything against them personally. I just hate to watch them because it pains me to think about how BITCHIN' it would have been to have them really act.

And speaking of green screen, I remember seeing a picture of Hayden and Portman on some green screen machanical bull (for Episode II) with nothing but green behind them and as far as the eye could see. I thought to myself "What the hell? Those two warm bodies up there are the only organic thing in that shot." And I was right. In the film it's all Pixar up there.

You ever take the time and compare the acting of the actors between the real sets and the green screen stuff. It's not like totally obvious, but its there. They act just a wee bit better on location.

I could have SWORN that the planet/city of Coruscant was mentoned somewhere before the PT made its debute. I don't think that it is said in the OT, but maybe in one of the books? I don't know. My best friend and I were talking about this and we both seemed to know a fair amount of it before episode I.

I know that in the ROTJ SE there is a scene where they show the city/planet partying, but even then I recall we seemed to know that, "yup, there is Coruscant."

Maybe the PT really has polluted my mind.

5. An officer on the Death Star. Hey, that could have been a Bothan spy. They're masters of disguise, you know.

Wasn't it mentioned somewhere in some book (maybe even the ESB or ROTJ novel) that the Bothans were pretty pissed that the Death Star blew up when it did because there where a whole butt load of their spies currently on that station, either hiding or captured?
