You know you’re an O-OT fan when............
Time
But you see, the problem is - is that most of us don't WANT the OT to tie in with the PT. The PT sucks. And if the two trilogies were supposed to tie into each other (like they should have done) then Lucas should have done a better job with the PT. The OT came first. If the two trilogies don't match up, then it is the PT fault. If anything Lucas should go back and fix THOSE films rather than dick around with the classics.

Goosebump lines
Time
Derailing the thread a little, the music is what gets me on several occasions. Binary Sunset aside, one of the scenes that gives me huge goose bumps is the part where Luke attacks Vader in ROTJ and the music swells to dramatic portions. You see Luke's saber strike harder and faster and the music is Luke's theme but all dark and somber and you see son against father in a final emotional battle ... wow. I've got chills on my arms just thinking about it.

And it's not in the movie, but a longer extended version of the Funeral Pyer music brings me to tears every single time I hear it.

Why Boba Fett is now bunk
Time
Boba Fett was such a bad ass in the Original Trilogy. Totally. He rocked. But since the PT came out he's nothing more than the genetic hand-me-down copy of some two-bit, no-name, bounty hunter. Well isn't that nice.

And I read somewhere that the braids that he has on his shoulder are from young Padawans that he killed during the "cleansing" of the Jedi temple. That they were trophies of his.
Now THAT I was looking forward to seeing. How bad ass would that have been? He shoots down a young Jedi, walks over all calmly, takes out a knife, cuts off the braid and pockets it. Wow. Just wow. I tell ya', you wouldn't look at him the same way again in ESB.

The PT did more harm than it did good. It raised more question than it gave answers, and the answers that were given to us just plain suck. Boba is a clone? Wow, aren't we clever Mr. Lucas.

Classic Edition: Return of the Jedi by Ocpmovie (Released)

Hmm...if there is any chance that a DL disk will screw up I better not get that. My cheap player probably couldn't play it anyway. Switching the disks shouldn't be that big of a deal for me. I can get my lazy ass out of my chair and change the disk. Hell, that's the way I grew up with the LaserDiscs, and then I had to switch them twice!

Idea & found on ebay: 16mm film SCOPE Star Wars RETURN of THE JEDI MINT LPP
Time
The winning bidder on the Nov. 14 auction for the 16mm print of Return of the Jedi was not a registered user but spent over $2,000 on that thing. I hope to God that Lucas isn't an eBay troll and snatching up our little rays of hope, because Lord knows he's got the money to do it. And I don't think he want to be a registered user.

Ha, that guy selling the ANH 16mm doesn't even have any pictures. Not even of the reels themselves. I like to see what I'm buying.

Ha ha! Oh man, I am totally putting that on my DVD case of my "Classic Editions." That's just too funny to pass up. No, better yet. I'm going to the store at night and slapping those labels on all the box sets.
You know I was actually at Best Buy yesterday and I saw all those "It's A Trap!" box sets of Star Wars and I can understand how people can be fooled into buying those. Even my brother (who's very savvy) questioned if it was the Original or not. I had to firmly tell him, that no those where not the Original Trilogy. "How do you know?" "Because I'm part of the fight to get us the Original Trilogy. If it were out, I would know about it. Those are NOT the DVDs you are looking for. It's a Trap."

But those boxes sure are 'purdy. It's like the sweet sweet bait that lures fish to the hook.

What species is Yoda anyway?
Time
Yoda is the only one of his species. That is how I see it and will always see it. I remember seeing the "female" yoda in my Episode I visual dictionary but it was always a bad prop choice. Yoda doesn't have a species. That is what makes him so awesome. You start defining him and he looses his mystisism. Just like what midichlorians did to the force.

Or in my mind, "Midi-what?"

Knights of the Old Republic II - I want my thirty bucks back...
Time
I have Knights of the Old Republic but I can't get it to work on my PC for some horrible reason. The screen is slow and then freezes. Like it doesn't have enough memory, but my laptop is pretty high end. I don't know what it's problem is. And they wouldn't let me return it. Basterds.

Now, on a personal rant/cry of sorrow I still wish that I could play my Rebel Assault II game. PC gaming has come so far since it game out 10 years ago that it is impossible for me to play it now. It's DOS based and my laptop is just too damn good.
Man...*sigh* it was mostly live action/interactive movie, and it had limited game play (it was mostly a shoot-em' up game). I'm not a gamer (I own 3 games to my name - RA: II, the Sims, and my X-Files game) so playing this game was heaven. All I had to do was interact and the story unfolded before me.
God...these pictures really take me back. I wanna play my old game so bad it hurts. They don't make interactive games like this anymore.

I wish LucasArts would release it again as some sort of "classic game play" like Nintendo did a few years ago with all the old NES games from the 80's.

Someone please explain why there is a 50's diner in the Star Wars universe...
Time
I didn't have a problem with it persay. The concept (the look) of a 50's diner was fine. Just like the cantina scene from ANH. There is nothing wrong with it. It is recognisable and we can related to it.

The problem I had was the over the top nature that they gave it. Like, we wouldn't recognise it as a small town diner, because as an audiance (according to Lucas) we are idiots and have to be spoon fed everything.
The whole "Someone to see you hon'! You wanna cup a Jawa juice?" Who the hell talks like that, ssspecially in a Star Wars universe? I mean, they actually programmed the droid to sound and act like that? That is a very distinct accent. On a human I can understand, but a droid. Oh no, I don't buy it.

Dex was fine. He looked and acted like he was a truck stop short order cook. Even the whole "itching his butt with his available hand" was okay. I smerked to myself in the theater. And as a side note, Obi-Wan did have the droids look at the dart but as Dex said, "even a Jedi should know the difference between knowledge and wisedom."

I just hate that damn droid. She is what makes it a slap in the face from George Lucas.

Yeah same here. I'm completely technicaly inept. I mean how much do those nice duel layer disks cost? If it means that I can just sit down and watch the whole movie without having to switch disks, I'm willing to shell out a little extra $$$ for that.

At least it is in your top three.

Anyone who honostly lists ANH at the bottom of their list (when compiling all 6 movies) isn't a true fan. Or worse, some sort of horrible new Star Wars breed that has been completely brainwashed by Lucas.

I can understand it not being #1 (I myself struggle to place ANH and ESB in the same slot), I can understand it not being #2. Hell, I'll even let it slide if you say it is your #4 if I really, really like you and take pity on you for placing a PT episode above a OT episode.

But putting it at #5, or right smack dab on hell's bottom #6. No, that I will not tolorate. You've got to reconsider your priorities if you've listed ANH that low on your list. And if you are lucky, I won't kick you in the shins.

Guys... WTF?

Next you'll be telling me they speak English in Star Wars!

To elaborate on that idea let me explain something. Think of it like this - how would you tell a story about Star Wars WITHOUT the movie? That's right, with words. Either through english text (such as a book) or orally (such as a camp fire story, or the radio dramas). Star Wars is told in the language it was conceived in. Namely English, because we in America speak it.

If Star Wars were based on true events, I highly doubt that English was the primary language of the galaxy. But you can't tell the story of Star Wars in a foreign language that nobody understands.

People in the Star Wars universe ARE NOT (or DID not if you are thinking in "long, long ago" terms) speak English. They never did. But the movie was filmed in English. It's just a format for telling a story.

So when you see something like "Tractor Beam Power Level" on the readout that Obi-Wan is shutting down in ANH, it wouldn't really say "Tractor Beam Power Level," but we as an audiance don't know what "##~~~~+++" means in the Star Wars universe language. For all we know it could say "Darth Vader was here." (which is why I object to the DVD change. How are non-star wars fans supposed to know what the power readout says? Nobody speaks that Star Wars language whatever it is supposed to be, nor can anyone read it.)

The movie has to be presented in a format that we understand. That is why the movie is translated into other languages around the world. No, Yoda doesn't really speak French, no Vader really isn't German, but it's just a way of getting the story across.

So when you hear something like what Wedge says in ESB - "Good luck Luke! See you at the rendezvous!" you don't freak out because you question why someone in the Star Wars universe just used a French word. Well, Wedge says "rendezvous" because there is no English word that means "predetermined meeting place." We have to use foreign words. English has always been like that.
It's just a story being told orally, (plus a whole lot of totally bitchin' graphics.) The Star Wars universe doesn't speak in English, but we do.

Now that is interesting to read. Obviously since Lucas is his own man, he can ignore all the rules, but the public out cry is still there. I wonder how much of an outcry it took to keep the film from being colorized. We're pretty vocal about Star Wars. He's got to be hearing us, right? (He can ignore us obviously, but I assume he's hearing us, and hearing us often.)

Lines you thought they said...
Time
In ROTJ I always thought that C-3PO said "Bigtibs of the almighty Sarlac..."

I always though that "Bigtibs" was some sort of ceremonial greeting that I didn't understand. Turns out he says "Victims of the Almighty Sarlac..." Now that makes more sense.

I also thought he said, "But should some of you wish to beg for mercy the Great Jabba will NOT listen to you pleas." I though, wow what a heartless basterd. Turns out he says "...the Great Jabba will NOW listen to your pleas." Now I think...wow what a heartless basterd because he's gonna kill them anyway.

I also thought that during the line that Han says "3PO, you tell that slimey [something] he'll get no such pleasure from us! Right Chewie?" And Chewie agrees with him and growels "No." - as in "you are correct Han, he won't get that pleasure from us."

But I always thought his growel meant "No, are you kidding? I'm totally going to beg for my life here." I think my version is funny.

During the shoot out in the prison bay I never knew who was yelling and what they were yelling. All I heard was "Look out! He's loose!" I assumed it was some attendant saying that. Then someone says something else and I never could hear what they were saying.

Then I found out that Luke and Han were the people who were sarcastically screaming when Chewie "broke loose" as they were tossing each other their guns.

Han: "Look out! He's loose!"
Luke: "He'll kill us all!! Auughh!"

I die every time I hear that now. That is classic comedy. Those boys sure know how to start and ambush.
