When wacky Ebay auctions and Star Wars collide!
Time
Ha ha. Chewbacca.

I just saw a TLC thing about "The Wolf Boy," you know, the wolfman syndrome that makes their faces all hairy? Anyway, I was watching this and the kid lives in Mexico and his name, I shit you not, was "Chewy." I don't know how it was spelled but I died laughing for about 10 minutes. Any time the narrator said something like, "Life isn't always easy for Chewy. Finding work can prove difficult due to his hairy appearance."

Rawwr! Mrowwff! Chewy can't find work on the account that he is hairy. (The misfortunes of others is funny.)

The Bafta Ad
Time
Never heard of it. Link please?

Hey did anyone watch The Daily Show last night? They had a nice Star Wars bit at the beginning where they were reviewing the crappy "Republican Propaganda" star wars movie that I guess they (republican convention) had made.

The sad thing about that movie (which I haven't seen, only what Jon showed on the show) is that they are portraying Democrats as the "evil empire." I agree with Jon - The Democrats aren't the empire in that film. The Democrats are Ewoks at best. Hell, even calling them Jawas would be an ego boost.

Republicans really are the empire in that analogy. And that sad part is, I agree. And I happen to be a Republican...

Ford: My Star Wars trilogy is a classic
Liam: Yeah well, my trilogy had kick ass fighting moves and graphics.
Ford: My trilogy had a plot and likable characters.
Liam: I had a lightsaber.
Ford: I had a blaster (that shot first every time.)
Liam: We had a bigger budget!
Ford: We had bigger box office numbers!
Liam: I had a staring role!
Ford: For one movie. I starred in all three!
Liam: I worked with Jar-Jar!
Ford: ...
Liam: Never mind.
Ford: Ha ha. Loser.

Is it just me, or is Leonardi DiCaprio not half bad?
Time
DiCaprio really hasn't done anything beyond Titanic. I mean...okay, he did "Catch me if you Can" and that was pretty good, but I haven't seen him in anything else personally.

Ehhhh *shrugs shoulders*, he's an actor. I still don't see what the big deal was the movie Titanic and how it made so much money anyway. It seemed more like a fluke than a real ground breaking movie. Everyone was seeing it because America needed a new heart throb and Leonardo was in the right place at the right time.

Personally, I saw Titanic. It was a fine movie, but nothing that I obsessed over. Hell, I don't even own the movie. I only saw it once in the theater. That was enough.

And even though it surpassed Star Wars in box office money, that is only calculated by 1977 ticket prices with 1997's. Add inflation for today's ticket prices and Star Wars made over 1 BILLION dollars at the box office. I. Shit. You. Not.

http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/records/index.html#inflation_adjusted

Go one scroll down to "Inflation-Adjusted" for the top 20 movies of all time. ONE BILLION DOLLARS, BABY!! And The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi are back to back in the #4 and #5 slot. Suck on that Prequel Trilogy! Mwah ha ha ha!

Update on the TV show, an now Lucas is getting involved!

And McCallum has said he wants to explore many exciting storylines and attempt to answer all of the fan questions over the years. This makes me feel a little better about the prospect of the show.

You see, there lies the problem. TPM tried to cater to a whole wide audiance and it came off lousy. Don't they learn from history?

I still don't know what to think about it. I prayed that the PT would rock and...it didn't. And this live action show? Again, it has the potential to be really cool, but if the PT is any indication of what Lucas is capable of it, it will probably suck.

Don't get me wrong, I WANT the show to be cool. We need something to wipe our minds clean from the gunk that the PT left behind, but I just. don't. know. I honostly don't know what to think.

My heart says that it will rock. My wishful heart, that is. The clone wars cartoon was pretty good. And the young Lucas did write and direct ANH (and I hear it was pretty good. )
My brain tells me (though the force) that it will suck. Our childhood was raped with the SE and DVDs. Salt was poured on our wounds with the denial of the O-OT DVDs. And PT crushed our spirits.

My prediction:
10% chance that it will rock beyond reason
30% chance that it will be enjoyable to watch but nothing to get excited about
60% chance that it will suck just as much as the PT, if not more so

Harrison Ford's Feelings about the Holiday Special
Time
I'm pretty surprised that they didn't show a more god awful clip than that. There are some down right painful scenes with Harrison in it and they decided to show a rather harmless peice. I guess they just wanted to mess with Harrison, not piss the man off.

I also wonder if this is a secret stunt to get more people aware of the Holiday special, and to keep from scaring off the fans they show a rather harmless clip so it peaks everyone's curiosity. Some sort of ruse to show that it is obvious that whatever George Lucas touches does NOT turn to gold as some people are so apt to believe.

Phil Brown (Uncle Owen) passes away at 89
Time
How many SW actors have now turned into "force ghosts," so to speak?

Sir Alec Guinness: Obi-Wan (died Aug. 5, 2000 -- Ironically on one of my good Star Wars friend's birthdate)
Sebasian Shaw: Anakin Skywalker (died Dec. 23, 1994)
Phil Brown: Uncle Owen (died Feb. 9, 2006)
Peter Cushing: Moff Tarkin (died Aug. 11, 1994 -- Ironically on by birthdate, and even more ironic is that Ian McDirmed was born that same date too)
Shelagh Fraser: Aunt Beru (died Sept. 13, 2000)
Jack Purvis: Head Jawa (died Nov. 1997)
William Hootkins: Porkins (died Oct. 23, 2005)
John Hollis: Lobot (died Oct. 18, 2005)
Michael Sheard: Admrl. Ozzel (died Aug. 31, 2005)
Bruce Boa: General Rieekan (died Apr. 17, 2004)
Alex McCrindle: General Donna (died Apr. 20, 1990)
Eddie Byrne: General Willard (died Aug. 21, 1981)
Des Webb: Wampa (died May 21, 2002)

Some of these people, I don't even remember who they played. I'm just quoting names at this point. It's like a body count of people I don't even know.

I swear to God I will be inconsolable the days when Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher all head off towards that Jedi Temple in the sky. But they are still fairly young though. God forbid anything happen to them...
