STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

This one has me baffled, Man. How in the hell are you "ruining a masterpiece" or whatever? I mean, this isn't being released in theaters. This is why I don't understand the reason people get so up in arms about fan edits. If you don't like what the person is doing, then don't download it or request a copy. They have the option to simply ignore it exists. We're not re-writing history here.

What we do is no different than a DJ making a remix of a song. If a person does a remix of "Thriller" nobody's going to say "Oh my God! You ruined a classic!"

This scumbag, who obviously has mental issues, needs to get a life and quit threatening people on message boards.

I can't wait 'til he finds out I'm intercutting the prequels into a ANH. LOL! I'll be destroyed for sure.

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)

Not to be rude, but CC assumed leadership of the Ranch almost a year ago with the intention of picking up where we left off and editing it himself with his own program, etc.

That was a year ago, and not one single frame of film has been produced, nor has even been worked on (to my knowledge). Almost nothing has even been discussed in the thread past that initial changeover.

So, my opinion would be that whoever can actually produce some material would be the one in charge. If that person is LTH, then so be it. If it's someone else, fine. But, I think CC has had his shot. No offense, CC. That's just my honest opinion. Let the responsibility fall to someone who can actually contribute something.

Star Wars: REBORN - The Complete Saga (* unfinished project *)
Time
Thanks, Taolar!

For those interested, here's the text for the slightly tweaked opening crawls...

STAR WARS

It is a period of civil war.
Rebel spaceships, striking from
a hidden base, have won their
first victory against the evil
Galactic Empire.

During the battle, Rebel spies
managed to steal secret plans
to the Empire's ultimate weapon,
the DEATH STAR, an armored space
station with enough power to
destroy an entire planet.

With her starship pursued by the
Empire's sinister agents, Princess
Leia races to the barren planet of
Tatooine, custodian of the stolen
plans that can save her people and
restore freedom to the galaxy. . .
_____________________

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

It is a dark time for the
Rebellion. After the destruction
of its most feared battle station,
the Empire has driven the Rebels
from their hidden base and
pursued them across the
galaxy.

Evading the evil Sith Lord Darth
Vader and his dreaded fleet of
Star Destroyers, a group of freedom
fighters led by Princess Leia has
established a new secret base on the
remote ice world of Hoth.

Vader, driven mad by a need for
revenge, has dispatched thousands
of probe droids into the far reaches
of space. He will not abandon his
merciless pursuit until the young
Luke Skywalker is trapped within
his grasp. . .
___________________________

RETURN OF THE JEDI

The final battle is drawing near.
The Empire's crushing stranglehold
on the galaxy is beginning to unravel
amid constant attacks by the growing
Rebel Alliance.

Luke Skywalker, eager to join his friends
in an attempt to rescue Han Solo from
the clutches of the vile gangster Jabba
the Hutt, must first complete his Jedi
training on the planet Dagobah.

Little does Luke know, Bothan spies have
recently discovered the secret construction
site of a second DEATH STAR. One even
larger and more powerful than the first.
When completed, this ultimate weapon will
spell certain doom for those struggling to
restore freedom to the galaxy...

Just to let you all know, we've received permission from Darth Editous today to use his version 3 of ANH as a base for our Star Wars edit instead of the Lucasfilm version. I'm incredibly happy about this, since his version is far superior to the official DVD's. I've always believed that we should try to build on each other's work in this community. No sense in fixing things which are already fixed.

So, thanks again, DE! We're eternally grateful. Today we've begun yanking out the scenes we already have in place and replacing them with DE's footage. Shouldn't take very long to get back to where we were.

In other news, we've had a few folks come forward and offer to do our opening crawls for us. I'm very appreciative of the help, because that was one facet of this thing I wasn't entirely confident we could pull off.

Oh yeah...

Lots more on this.

Sorry I haven't kept you guys up to date. We were going to do monthly video updates on this, but decided we'd be working more on the updates than we did on the project itself.

We've been working steadily though, trying different things to see what fits where, and deciding how to tell the story in the best way possible. We've also concluded that completing the first film first (instead of the third) is important. So, we've put Jedi away for a bit and we're now focusing entirely on ANH/TPM/AOTC, otherwise known as STAR WARS.

I've recently had the privilege of meeting and speaking with Matthew Bortolin, the author of "The Dharma of Star Wars". If you haven't read his book yet, you need to. It's very insightful about some of the mysteries of the Star Wars narrative. He's a great guy who is incredibly knowledgeable about mythology and Star Wars, and he has graciously agreed to do a commentary for our DVD. So, that's very cool news!

For those of you who enjoyed the first two trailers I made, and are wondering where the trailer for Star Wars is... It was about 95% complete when the file was corrupted and I couldn't retrieve it. To date, I haven't taken time away from the project to go back and redo the whole trailer again, but don't worry, there will be one eventually... Just be patient.

I don't want to use this thread to go into specifics about every decision we're making during the editing process. I've tried that before and it's proven to be nothing more than confounding, because we end up discussing it into oblivion until every detail is second-guessed.

So, there's a lot you won't know until the DVD is in your player, but I can tell you that we're aiming for a May 2007 release for the first installment.

Thank you, kaine23, and the rest of you for your interest. If you have any questions, put 'em in the thread, and if you haven't already, check out www.myspace.com/starwarsreborn

Sluggo's Star Wars Trailer Contest *Next contest begins April 25th*
Time
People are only jerks online because they can be. They take counterpoint just for the sake of being different. The question is, where's their trailer? Until they produce something better, their opinion is just that...an opinion.

I just watched it and I think it's really well done. I like the flash style transitions. And I've always loved that track by Clint Mansell. You could call it "Requiem For a Jedi"...haha... People don't realize how hard it is to get the right balance in one of these trailers. There's a fine line between trailer and clip-show. I think you've shown that you know the difference.

So, great job, Jambe! Screw the naysayers! You won!

I managed to get hold of both "Smiley" series that Alec Guinness did for the BBC and i've done a few tests and its looking promising, so fingers crossed.

Hasn't this already been done using Star Wars audio? I forget who did it, but in someone's edit, they just took the the "I" from "I was once a Jedi Knight, the same as your father", and blended it with "wanted you to have this..." It was real easy and sounded almost perfect from what I remember.

I'd vote for burned in, as long as you make sure everything is spelled right and is grammatically correct. Otherwise, it'll annoy the hell out of me everytime I watch it.

Although... If MagFan had burned in his subtitles for Balance of the Force, we'd never have been blessed with ADigitalMan's (in my opinion) far superior set of subtitles.

Something to think about.
