Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Hi Harmy,

Ok, I checked and the jump appears at 22:41, however it is not a frame jump.  Just a small section of wall moves between luke and c3po, above the light.  Below are two screen shots showing how this one section of wall suddenly moves up.

Since you might do a 2.5 version, I'll post the one possible error I noticed.  There appears to be a slight frame jump before Luke removes the restraining bolt from R2D2 (it may be right after he removes the bolt, as I can't remember exactly).  It seemed to be most noticeable on the wall behind Luke.  Sorry for not having the time code, but I can post that when I get home from work.

Not a bid deal, but the chapters seem to be randomly chosen and not mirrored to the official dvd/blu-ray as they were on 2.0. Hopefully this will be changed on the blu-ray release.

EDIT: Just noticed the 2.0 AVCHD has the same chapters as 2.1, however the mkv of 2.0 had better placed chapters - odd.

EDIT 2: I know I've said it before, but just wanted to say thanks again to Harmy!

Hi Harmy,

Thanks again for all your hard work.  Very much looking forward to 2.1.  I just watched 2.0 again tonight and found a possible error. At 31:21 there is a sudden color shift, most noticeable on Ben's cloak (shifts to a darker shade of brown).  Figured I better mention it in case no one else has, and perhaps could be corrected in 2.1.  Other than that, and things that I know have already been reported, it is just about perfect!

The 448 on the DVD is legit: I sent it to him a few days ago, but neglected to post the links here as well.  Here they are:

part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4

Looks like those links are now dead. I deleted the file by mistake and want it back...has anyone posted it to newsgroups? i'm not sure if the version there is the original one with high freq problems or the new one.

edit: there seems to be one that was posted on sept 2, but that seems too early for the corrected version.

These links still work:

Lossless source files will be posted soonish, when I have time to do it.

How would I go about removing some audio tracks from the MKV?  I've been playing the movie on my laptop, connected to my TV with an HDMI out.  It would be much easier if I could put the MKV on a USB drive and stick it in my BD player.

Unfortunately, the biggest USB drive I have is "16GB" (actually 14.9GB in real life), and the MKV is 16.06GB.  I'm hoping if I strip away enough of the audio tracks I'll be able to get it under 14.9GB.  Thanks.

You can use mkvtoolnix to easily remove audio tracks.  The only problem you may run into is if your BD player can't read ntfs formatted drives, as fat32 only supports individual file size of up to 4gb.

well, I was about to get the fixed audio avchd, but I guess I'll wait for 2.1

Any idea when that might be? (no rush, just curious)

At this point, why bother?? Why not wait for version 3.9, or better yet, version 9999999999999.0

The only question is, will there ever be a final, definitive version??? And if so, when??

If you don't like the fact that Harmy is willing to go back and spend MORE of his time fixing this for free, then I suggest you leave the thread and start your own restoration project.

I do hope you consider a 2.1 of the AVCHD, but if not it will just force me to buy a blu-ray burner.

Is it not possible to create an AVCHD from a BluRay video?

Yes, it is.  However, an AVCHD made by Harmy would have better quality as it would come straight from the source video before it was compressed.

Laserschwert, I was always considering maybe doing some fixes for the BD, as I consider it the ultimate version, but it wasn't until a few days ago when somebody PMed me something they noticed that made decide for sure. I will PM you the changes I already know I'll be doing (three or four so far) but if someone notices anything else, there may be more, so it probably would make sense to wait. I'm sorry about this. I know it really complicates things for everyone but I'm just a perfectionist. I just really wish I'd started with the AVCHD and not make people download these huge files only to make them redownload them later.

No need to be sorry Harmy.  We all greatly appreciate all your hard work with this project, and download it multiple times to get an improved version is well worth it and not a problem.  I do hope you consider a 2.1 of the AVCHD, but if not it will just force me to buy a blu-ray burner.  LOL

Just a few quick questions (I´m not that tech-savvy): Once the fixed AVCHD is released, all I have to do is burn it (it´s an .ISO, right?) on a Dual-layer DVD and it will most likely play on my BD-player or PS3? I can use a regular freeware burning program? Should I or should I not tick the "seamless" box on the burning program when selecting when I want the layer change to occur?

Yes, you could use ImgBurn to burn it.  There won't be a "layer change" option as this is AVCHD and not a DVD.

Maybe I should hold off on any upload until the fix comes out for the 448kbps version...the AVCHD people shouldn't be deprived. They're the people least likely to want to deal with muxing and such. Thanks for the update, hairy! Sorry it didn't work out but we all appreciate having the film in hand a few weeks earlier and understand the pressure to get this done

Yeah, I went ahead and canceled the download.  I will wait for a corrected version.
