Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released)

Incredible work as always Harmy and thank you! I do need to report one issue, however. As others have found, there seems to be some kind of encoding problem.

With all previous releases I've been able to burn the iso to disc then use makemkv to create a mkv and finally convert it into mp4 without any transcoding using MkvToMp4. With this release the resultant file will play but if you try to skip ahead to any other scene it just hangs. This has been confirmed on multiple PC's using both Win 7 and 8.

As a last resort, I re-encoded it using Handbrake. That mp4 file will play and allow you to navigate but even then there's still a slight lag when moving ahead. Not sure what the issue is but none of the other releases have done this nor have any other mkv's I've converted to mp4

Were you able to convert the AVCHD SW 2.5 without issue? I have the same problems with that release. Luckily the ESB 2.0 wont be a problem for me since Harmy is releasing two different size MKVs.

Actually, I'm planning two MKV versions, the main one with 15000Kbps BD compatible stream and lossless audio and then another, cropped to 1280x542 at a much lower bitrate with the same audio options as the AVCHD for those, who want a more compact MKV version of around 5GB (it's preferable to people making their own smaller encodes with crappy settings from an already re-compressed source) - I could technically already release the smaller MKV now but I don't want people thinking it's the main MKV release.

Harmy, this is actually great for me! Previously I would have to remux the AVCHD to use get a compact (~6-7gb) MKV for streaming purposes to avoid compressing the video a second time on the larger MKV. I would then archive the larger MKV on blu-ray disc. I know this is asking a lot, but any chance you would do a smaller MKV release as well for SW 2.5? I am continuing to have issues remuxing that file as well. I will try tonight as you suggested demuxing first and then using mkvmerge.

Can't wait for the mkv, I can't remux this one either...

Glad I'm not the only one. Also can't remux SW 2.5 for some reason. Never had this issue with Harmy's older AVCHDs.

I couldn't either. What I did with both SW 2.5 and this is to drag the playlist file onto tsMuxeR (to preserve the chapters), deselect whatever streams you don't want and choose TS Muxing as the output. Works fine in XBMC.

Thanks, will try that tomorrow. I was able to remux SW 2.5 using xmedia recode but it wouldn't play back properly on Roku using Plex (if I tried to fast forward it would restart the movie from the very beginning).

I have the .iso mounted but when I open through handbrake it says no video source is found.

What version of handbrake are you using? I had no problems with handbrake 0.9.9. However, I am having issues trying to remux the AVCHD of SW 2.5 and ESB 2.0, both error out using mkvmerge. Using mkvmerge to remux previous AVCHD of SW 2.0 and ESB 1.0 worked without issue. Anyone else having problems remuxing?

So I've got the movie downloaded.  Can anyone help as to why I can't get handbrake to recognize the video source.  My previous Harmy versions worked fine, but this one is giving me problems.  Any tips?

What file are you opening? Try mounting the iso as a virtual drive and opening the "disc" in handbrake.

EDIT: Although, it would be best to remux the video into a MP4 or MKV container so as to not compress the video stream a second time.

Hey Harmy...just curious...but during your extended credits at the end, is it supposed to loop the last 10 secs of the credits music over and over again as the music portion of this segment?

At least it does on mine while viewing it with VLC.

I didn't have any audio during the extended credits.

DJ and You_Too,

Are ESB and ROTJ (GOUT and 97 SE) finished? I thought they were a ways off, but wasn't sure after seeing vbangle's pictures. I finally got around to watching Star Wars, it's hard to believe this was sourced from that 2006 bonus disc! Thanks again Team Blu.

My apologies, I didn't go into detail talking about the Team Blu GOUT V2....

Its only Star Wars, both GOUT and 97 SE, that have been released so far.

And yes, how did they manage the detail? Crazy right?

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought that might be it, but wasn't sure as I received my copies in single movie cases/artwork, not the trilogy cases like you. So I wasn't sure if it was just a different case or if they actually finished the other two movies in record time.

Yeah, I can't imagine GOUT getting anymore detail squeezed out of it at this point. I haven't watched the 97 SE yet, perhaps later this month.

Package has been received. I only got to look at a few before/after screen shots, but so far it looks great! I can't wait to sit down this weekend and actually watch it all the way through. Thanks again DJ, You_Too, and the rest of Team Blu!

I was going to wait for Sets but it is going to take far to long and I think I will send them out as we finish, and yes it will take me a little more time, like I said above I got a nice new file from hairy_hen so I had to re do the BD, but I am all caught up now and I should have all ready to go for Sunday, I will start burning the BD's for you guys this weekend and through the coming up week.

That's great DJ. I'm sure this will make everyone's May 4th even better. I will be checking my mail much more often over the next few weeks. Thanks again for all you and your teams hard work!

Guys I am busting my ass to make this happen, We had a last minute update from Mr hairy_hen and we think it is definitely worth it, so I had to scrap the BD and I am right now doing a new re authoring then I will prepare it for Usenet, passwords will be posted May 4th!

Awesome DJ! I'm not in any rush at all, but any idea on when the discs would be mailed out to those who donated?  I'm guessing it might be awhile, as I thought you were only going to send completed sets out, but perhaps I am miss-remembering. Thanks again for all your hard work. Looking forward to see fruits of Team Blu's labor.

Hairy_hen and Mavimao,

Do any of the soundtracks on Harmy's release have a non-dubbed Aunt Beru?  I assumed the 5.1 70mm would, but when listening it's clear that her voice is dubbed, as it doesn't have the echo to it that Uncle Owen's voice has.

EDIT: Ok, according to this thread it appears that even the original prints of Star Wars had a dubbed Aunt Beru.  I knew the later releases were dubbed but, it appears it was always dubbed and the later releases were dubbed with a different take.  Learn something new everyday.
