Yeah vb, I kinda see how that wording could be misconstrued to refer to the ‘Special Edition’ version of things, where we see both Han <span style=“text-decoration: underline;”>and</span> Greedo shooting…and I wouldn’t want that.  But to be equally pedantic, I was meaning the phrase in regards to the original version only, in that Greedo seemed just about to shoot Han, but Han beat him to it…first.

Anyway, back to the trailers…

Being a big fan of the original movie, this was an instance where I was really looking forward to what an ‘updated’ remake might bring.  The signs looked good, as this was going to be directed by the guy that made ‘PREDATOR’ after all.  The original production design and team costumes looked great, but I kinda hoped that the ‘re-imagined’ carnage would involve an assortment of grungy, spiked, ‘MAD MAX’ - influenced costumes, bikes, and post-apocalyptic settings this time around…  And I hoped it would prove to be a worthy successor to the original…  Boy, was I in for a disappointment on both counts, as can be seen below, lol!..

I’D LIKE TO CHANGE A LOT OF THINGS FOR MY PREFERRED VERSIONS OF THE ‘SNYDER TRILOGY’ OF ‘MAN OF STEEL’ / ‘BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE’ / ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’ MOVIES -

‘MAN OF STEEL’ ideas - DON’T INCLUDE scenes with Clark with a full beard, such as the oil rig rescue. And GET RID of the ‘tornado’ scene where Clark’s dad stops him from saving him…which he should have been able to manage easily with his ‘superspeed’! - just make it seem as if his dad passed away sometime 'offscreen! NOTE - However, someone did a neat re-edit of the sequence where it looked like a car unexpectedly struck Clark’s dad when Clark was DISTRACTED handing a child to safety. ** WRITE UP MORE IDEAS HERE WHEN I HAVE TIME **

‘BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE’ ideas - Just END the scene between Batman and Lex Luthor in the jail at the point where Batman punches him! CUT at that point, rather than include the ‘dent’ in the wall, and Lex doing his ‘ding, ding, ding’ dialogue, and make this his FINAL appearance in the ‘trilogy’ - because of the dialogue that Batman says before he ‘brands’ him, we can just assume he ended up in ‘Arkham Asylum’ afterwards! ** WRITE UP MORE IDEAS HERE WHEN I HAVE TIME **

** NOTE: I’ve not decided yet if I would just cut directly to the END CREDITS immediately after Batman punches Lex…OR if I would cut directly to the EXISTING final scenes of Bruce Wayne walking out of the cemetery, followed by Lois at Clark’s graveside, or not **

POTENTIAL IDEA FOR MY PREFERRED NEW ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’ BEGINNING -

Definitely KEEP Zack Snyder’s own version of the opening which ‘recaps’ Superman being killed by Doomsday creature (during previous BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE movie) - for it’s atmospherically dark tone and score, as well as it’s continuous movement showing Superman’s death reverberating across the 3 worlds of Humans, Atlanteans, and Amazonians -

It includes the following titles wording - WARNERS BROS. PICTURES presents // in association with ACCESS ENTERTIANMENT and DUNE ENTERTAINMENT // an ATLAS ENTERTAINMENT / STONE QUARRY production // a ZACK SNYDER film // zack snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE (Cyborg sits at table at this point) // BEN AFFLECK // HENRY CAVILL // AMY ADAMS // GAL GADOT // RAY FISHER // JASON MOMOA (Superman’s ‘voice’ and newspapers flies towards city buildings at this point) // NOTE: At this point EZRA MILLER appears during a clip of Lex Luthor (with hair) inside the Krypton ship watching a ‘hologram’ of Steppenwolf holding 3 cubes materialize…but I’d like to REMOVE this altogether (and would remove the similar scene with Lex and a ‘hologram’ of Steppenwolf from BvS:DOJ too, as I described above), so that the last we’d see of Lex is when Batman punches him in the previous movie! // WILLEM DAFOE (Superman’s voice passes city skyline at this point) // NOTE: At this point JESSIE EISENBERG appears during clip of Superman’s voice distrupting and undersea ‘Atlantean warrior’…but I’d like to REMOVE the wide shot with his name altogether! // JEREMY IRONS // DIANE LANE // NOTE: At this point CONNIE NIELSEN appears as Superman’s voice continues to travel to the Amazonian’s island, where it affects their ‘box’ too - I think I would keep this intro. so far, as Superman’s voice seems to be moving outwards continually up to this point, along with the camera movements. // J. K. SIMMONS // CIARAN HINDS RYAN ZHENG // AMBER HEARD JOE MORTON // LISA LOVEN KONGSLI DAVID THEWLIS - NOTE: At this point the black Amazonian turns in close-up to shout “Alert the queen!” before turning to the ‘box’ again…and I’d CUT at this point.

At this point in Zack Snyder’s edit, we would NORMALLY CUT to a close-up of a kettle on the fire as we continue to then see Bruce Wayne travel on horseback over mountainous scenery to find Aquaman in Iceland and ask him to join his group…but I MIGHT decide to remove this entirely for something else, to cut the bloat, as it’s already been a slow-moving, gradual build-up to this point - SO AT THIS POINT, I MIGHT CUT TO THE NIGHT-TIME ACTION SCENE WITH A NEWSPAPER SAYING SUPERMAN IS DEAD, FOLLOWED BY BATMAN FINDING ONE OF STEPPENWOLF’S ‘SCOUTS’ IN GOTHAM CITY, AND ALFRED DISCUSSING LEX LUTHOR’S FILES AND LOOKING FOR OTHER SUPERHEROS INSTEAD, AND BEING ASKED TO BRING THE JET - NOTE: This was actually the 2nd scene in Joss Whedon’s edit, which came after the dreadful opening ‘mobile footage of Superman’, but it repeats the following credits at the start of it - WARNER BROS. PICTURES presents // in association with ACCESS ENTERTAINMENT and DUNE ENTERTAIMMENT // an ATLAS ENTERTAINMENT / CRUEL AND UNUSUAL production // a ZACK SNYDER film…BUT I would MISS OUT the WARNER BROS. PICTURES presents // in association with ACCESS ENTERTAINMENT and DUNE ENTERTAINMENT wording and begin this Joss Whedon scene when the police car passes below, and can live with the remaining credits being repeated at this point -

…and the scene ends with Batman jumping off a building -

…and then I THINK I’d continue on at this point with Joss Whedon’s JUSTICE LEAGUE main titles as Lois visits Superman’s broken monument, and we see various large tribute flags on different cities with the ‘S’ symbol, and Clark’s mother leaving his grave and her repossessed farm, ALONG WITH A REPEAT OF CERTAIN CREDITS WORDING WHICH I NEED TO WRITE OUT HERE STILL -

…and then I’d CUT this Joss Whedon scene once the song ‘Everybody Knows’ ends at this point -

…and then I’d CUT to Zack Snyder’s edit from this point onwards for the Terrorists/Wonder Woman sequence, as the movie is much moodier than Joss Whedon’s version, and has a similar tone to THE DARK KNIGHT opening -

** NOTE: IF I decide that I DON’T want to repeat the CREDITS WORDING in the Joss Whedon ‘Everybody Knows’ title sequence above, I would just CUT directly from Batman jumping off the building to the ‘London Bridge’ shot above to start the Zack Snyder cut of the ‘Terrorists/Wonder Woman’ sequence INSTEAD! - NOTE: ALTHOUGH I WOULD HATE TO LOSE THE FLAG TRIBUTES TO SUPERMAN ACROSS THE GLOBE, AT LEAST I’D BE ABLE TO USE ZACK SNYDER’S FOOTAGE OF HIS MUM LEAVING HER FORCLOSED HOME, WHICH IS MORE ATMOSPHERIC LOOKING **

TO BE CONTINUED - Not sure if I will be ending the Wonder Woman sequence on the full Zack Snyder conclusion with the black policeman looking up after building explodes and the terrorist’s hat floats down…OR if I’d prefer to end it on the white flash as she clashes her forearm bracelets together - either way, I’d then continue with Bruce Wayne on horseback as he goes looking for Aquaman - I’d definately END the sequence with the Joss Whedon dialogue and Aquaman swimming off version though, as we FINISH on Bruce saying “Doesn’t mean I’m wrong”…and then CUT to the Zack Snyder scene of Bruce’s helicopter landing as he tells Alfred he found Aquaman who said no to him, before they board the jet…and then I’d CUT to Zach Snyder’s scene between Bruce and Alfred aboard the jet, before we see it flying through the sky, and then continue onto the next scene as normal in Zach Snyder’s version.


THE MANDALORIAN LAST EP OF SEASON 2 - RECUT LUKES SCENES AT END, TO MAKE HIM SPEAK LESS. HIS EYES AND EXPRESSIONS DONT EMOTE ENOUGH, AND HIS DIALOGUE IS TOO PO-FACED. ALSO CUT DOWN AMOUNT OF GROGU STROKING MANDOS FACE

That's a nice confirmation there adywan, and I'm looking forward to the added 'depth' of the overall Hoth battle you're planning, compared to the 2004 DVD mix.  Can't wait to hear how that will sound on the surrounds!  Been kind of busy of late, but look out for a PM later tonight concerning the workprint.  You're doing ridiculously good work on this!  :)

47 NOTES TO SELF - is it possible to REMOVE this ‘group’ shot and just cut to the Falcon?? (the positioning of everyone is suddenly different!) SLIGHT POSSIBILITY - How would putting the ‘BROOM BOY’ end scene work here?? Would start at the point he comes out to ‘Force-grab’ the broom, and end on close-up of his face after he’s seen a ship accelerate past - so this would allow a ‘time gap’ before returning to the ‘group’ shot (where everyone is positioned differently), and allow for all the re-positioning better. Would all the music in these scenes match well??

then we end on Falcon travelling in hyperspace -

…After ‘Group’ shot and Falcon flying shot ends in a white flash…I’d then CUT to the scene of Kylo getting his helmet fixed, then returning to his Stardestroyer in his TIE, as his Knights of Ren follow him down a corridor (THIS IS A WAY OF DOUBLING DOWN ON THE FACT THAT KYLO ISN’T GONNA CHANGE TO THE LIGHT SIDE AND BE REDEEMED!) -

ABSOLUTELY BEST ENDING IDEA FOR MYSELF WHICH GIVES THE MOVIE SAGA A MUSIC-ORIENTATED CONCLUSION WITHOUT ANY DIALOGUE WHATSOEVER (in the same kind of manner which I preferred for the end of the Prequel Trilogy too with my proposed ROTS ending) - WHICH ELIMINATES SPECIFYING IF REY IS A ‘SKYWALKER’…OR A ‘PALPATINE’…OR SIMPLY ‘REY’, AS YOU CAN CHOOSE TO BELIEVE WHAT YOU WISH WITH THIS SOLUTION! - Meaning that I can do away with the ‘random nosey old woman’ who happens to be wandering in the desert at this point. HERE’S HOW -

  1. …we CUT from the previous ‘musical montage’ which ends with the ‘Stardestroyer falling in the Jakuu desert’ to EITHER the close-up shots of Rey and BB-8 exiting the Falcon, OR the wide shot of Rey and BB-8 heading towards the old Lars homestead from the Falcon…and then continue as normal with Rey having a look around and then burying Luke and Leia’s lightsabers in the sand, as she then ignites her own yellow lightsaber…and CUT to our FINAL ‘Star Warsy’ shot of the Falcon flying over a sandcrawler on Tattooine as we hear a Jawa saying “OOTEENEEE!”…and FADE OUT to a ‘circular iris’ as the end credits begin.

James Cameron uses DVNR on Aliens Blu Ray transfer.

It the 'color-corrected every frame' comment that's really got me worried!

The 'look' of a movie's colour is one of the things I'm most concerned with when it comes to all these re-releases.

I despise the overly-dark, 'stylised' re-coloration that Ridley Scott did for his ALIEN:DIRECTOR'S CUT, which seems to be the default new colour for the original cut too now, compared to it's great original colouration.  And the same goes for what he did to his BLADERUNNER:FINAL CUT also, which messed with the original's excellent colours.

I wonder how far Cameron has deviated for this BLURAY release now?  The original color is ALREADY perfect on ALIENS (and the 'Special Edition') as it is, so count me nervous again.

Too many directors are fouling up their originals with all this colour-grading nonsense.  It looks like I'll be sticking with more and more DVD originals at this rate...

Awesome find there vaderios.  It would be great if some of us can further assist to help adywan get this eventually, and whatever else he still requires.

That shot looks even more epic now!  Great new tweaking to the colouring, and love being able to make out the stairs now.

Well things are almost back to normal. I'm still on the tablets but the headaches have gone.

 

I've started back to work on ESB:R full time now. The workstation just needs the lights installing but i've got everything set back up so it's full steam ahead ( pictures/ video of the workstation coming next week). The model/ set building resumes at the weekend.

 

Glad to hear things have improved.  Looking forward to seeing your workstation!  :)

From the snippet seen in the final trailer, the overall look now seems far superior to me I have to say, as the SE version is 'blue-tinged' and overly dark compared to how it is now.  And adywan's also done a couple of terrific additional tweaks on top.  Count me delighted with how this turned out.

It's one of the coolest apps. I've ever come across.  There's no doubt that the quality of that guy's version is very impressive compared to the 'official' one.  (Why should I be surprised?)

It mentions at the bottom of that info. page you linked to, that someone called 'Darth Revan' is going to be doing a port for PCs too!  Great stuff.

INITIAL IDEAS FOR 1ST EPISODE OF ‘THE MANDALORIAN’ TV SHOW -

  1. I MIGHT change SILENT silver LUCASFILM logo to SHORTENED ‘fanfare’ version.

  2. DISCARD the ‘shiny characters’ line-up and ‘rainbow star wars’ logo, and instead ADD the SILENT ‘A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away’ blue wording BEFORE cutting to the ‘locator’ beeps and wind of the first shot.

  3. The blue ‘gillman’ alien guy was really annoying, and it would be tempting to cut the ENTIRE first part of the show to get rid of him…EXCEPT I really like some of the initial imagery, so I think it might be possible to DISCARD some of the scenes involving him, and cut directly to the close-up of the Mandalorian pushing him into the chamber to be ‘carbonised’! - POSSIBLY get rid of the CGI’D driverless golden speeder, and just cut to the rusty speeder with the driver after the SPY ALIEN plays his flute?

In the 2ND EPISODE, I might DISCARD everything before the Mandalorian and floating Yodaling walking towards us with the sun behind them (but keep THE MANDALORIAN title??), as they then come across the jawas stripping the ship…OR I MIGHT include initial start of episode where the Mandalorian fights off the Younglings attackers, and then CUT to them walking with the sun behind them (but keep THE MANDALORIAN title??)…while DISCARDING the whole scene of the Mandalorian attending to his wound as the Yodaling puppet tries to heal him.

Okay, I’m now going to describe how I’d like to see the beginning of ROGUE ONE done differently, but first, I’d like to discuss the new intro. layout that DISNEY came up with for their movies -

Like others at the time, I sorely missed the familiar 20TH CENTURY FOX logo and fanfare for a little extra bit of anticipation before the iconic blue A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… wording silently appeared to introduce the crescendo of the equally iconic STAR WARS main title and scroll theme…and found the new replacement to be very weak sauce and lacklustre in comparison. In addition to that, I also disliked the way the new silver LUCASFILM logo and blue wording were both reduced in size compared to the bigger versions previously seen at the start of THE FORCE AWAKENS.

So for my own viewing purposes someday, I’d much prefer to REINSTATE the 20th CENTURY FOX logo and fanfare at the start of THE FORCE AWAKENS, THE LAST JEDI, and THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, to restore some continuity throughout the Original Trilogy, Prequel Trilogy, and Sequel Trilogy ‘Skywalker saga’ movies for myself.

However, I’m content that the lack of fanfare intros./scrolls for the ‘standalone’ movies such as ROGUE ONE and SOLO helps to differentiate them from the ‘main 9-movie saga’ for myself anyway…although I’d prefer to give them a similar new silent intro. instead, which includes a certain ‘Star Warsy’ element which I really missed.

So here’s my proposed NEW OPENING for ROGUE ONE which I’d prefer to see - I had originally intended to COMPLETELY DISCARD ALL THE OPENING SCENES of the existing movie…and begin with the ‘the planet Jedha with the defecting cargo pilot and Saw’s gang’ instead…as I’m not too keen on the current opening, nor the fact that we start off with Jyn as a youngster, nor the fact that Captain Ando ruthlessly backshoots his defenceless contact when we first meet him - so I wanted to introduce the two main protagonists in a different way, and preferred to just have Captain Ando first appear at Jyn’s interrogation at the rebel base instead, seeing as it works as a good introduction to him, where he explains everything anyway.

HOWEVER, I eventually decided to start off with the two main protagonists rather than the defector after all, but WITHOUT Captain Ando killing his contact -

We START OFF with the SILENT silver LUCASFILM logo and blue wording -

(NOTE - I’d DISCARD the smaller logo and lettering that were seen in ROGUE ONE, as shown HERE and HERE , as I much prefer the larger versions that were seen in THE FORCE AWAKENS instead) - PUT THIS IN A BLUE BOX?

There’s a LOT I like about this movie, but once again there’s plenty throughout I’d prefer to alter. However, the MAIN thing I would change for myself is the way the beginning was structured. My own preference would be to start off with Jyn as an adult, rather than as a child…and luckily, there’s a straightforward way to do this without scrapping all of the early scenes.

But before I start, I’d like to mention the opening title introduction to the movie first -

Like others, I really missed the familiar 20th Century Fox logo and fanfare, but to have it open SILENTLY without the usual STAR WARS title and scroll theme music too, felt really jarring at the time…and seemed pretty weak sauce compared to the triumphant introduction of previous entries in the franchise.

And on top of that, I didn’t care for the fact that the new silver LUCASFILM logo and it’s follow-up blue wording had been shrunk in size as seen here -

But I’m using ROGUE ONE to END my personal ‘Star Wars saga’ viewing order on, as I just look on it as an additional fun watch AFTER the ‘main’ 9-chapter ‘SKYWALKER’ storyline concludes…so I’m content for the likes of it and other ‘standalone’ movie storylines such as SOLO to start off less bombastically than the ‘main saga’ chapters do anyway, as a way to differentiate them somewhat.

However, I’d still prefer to alter the current opening intro a little for myself, to restore just a bit more of that ‘Star Warsy’ anticipation which I missed…and there are a couple of options which I’m considering -

One would go like this -

We START OFF with the familiar 20th Century Fox logo and fanfare

NOTE - I believe there’s a new Disney version of the logo without the ‘A News Corporation Company’ now, so I’d probably use that.

…but the fanfare would finish over the LARGER silver LUCASFILM logo which was seen in THE FORCE AWAKENS instead -

…and at this point, the movie begins.

However, here’s an alternative version which I’m equally mulling over too…which I’ll use as the introduction to start off my alterations now -

…and then we continue on as normal, as Cassian turns to run down an alley, and meets up with a contact who’s nervously waiting to tell him some news from Jedha. The contact tells Cassian “AN IMPERIAL PILOT…ONE OF THE CARGO DRIVERS, HE DEFECTED YESTERDAY…HE’S TELLING PEOPLE THEY’RE MAKING A WEAPON…THE KYBER CRYSTALS, THAT’S WHAT THEY’RE FOR”

Then Cassian asks “WHAT KIND OF WEAPON?”, as the contact anxiously tries to leave saying “LOOK, I HAVE TO GO”

…as Cassian suddenly grabs him and shoves him back, demanding “WHAT KIND OF WEAPON?!”

…as the contact yells “A PLANET KILLER!”

…and we end on this shot -

NOTE - This isn’t a biggie by any means, but I’d prefer to discard the shot which appears at this point of the contact yelling “THAT’S WHAT HE CALLED IT!”, as he knocks Cassian’s hand away - CLICK HERE , because Cassian is then seen to still be holding the contact’s coat in the next shot immediately afterwards…and although the contact’s face is not lined up exactly between the two shots I’d join together instead, I reckon it would look less jarring in motion than seeing Cassian still holding his jacket after being shrugged off…as the contact is then seen to shrug off Cassian’s hand just afterwards anyway.

…and then we CUT* to Cassian taken aback as he says “A PLANET KILLER?..” in a hushed tone -

…as the contact shrugs Cassian’s hand off, saying “SOMEONE NAMED ERSO SENT HIM, SOME OLD FRIEND OF SAW’S”, as Cassian then says “GALEN ERSO!..”, then demands “…WAS IT?!” -

…as the contact says “I DON’T KNOW, THEY WERE LOOKING FOR SAW WHEN WE LEFT…”

…and we end on this shot -

NOTE - I’d prefer to discard the shot which appears at this point where Cassian says “WHO ELSE KNOWS ABOUT THIS?” , and the contact replies “I HAVE NO IDEA” - CLICK HERE , and I’d also prefer to discard the shot which appears immediately after it too, where the contact says “IT’S ALL FALLING APART…SAW’S RIGHT…” - CLICK HERE

…as a stormtrooper appears at the end of the alley, and reports “TROOPERS DOWN, SECTOR NINE!” -

NOTE - I’d prefer to discard the scene which appears at this point of Cassian saying “CALM DONW, CALM DOWN…IT WILL BE ALRIGHT” as he then back-shoots his unsuspecting contact - CLICK HERE, as that put me right off his character from the start when he did that. When Cassian has no choice but to escape himself, I’d rather have seen him just having to leave his unfortunate contact to an uncertain fate, instead of ruthlessly backshooting him…as I wanted to like his character better during this first impression of him, and he was already a ‘badass’ after shooting the two stormtroopers.

…and then we CUT* to a close-up of Cassian tucking his blaster away as an alarm blares -

NOTE - I’d discard the beginning of the shot which appears at this point of Cassian looking down - CLICK HERE , and just start from the point where he’s already turned to make his escape, which will give the impression that he’s just having to leave his contact behind to his fate.

…and then we CUT* to Cassian starting to make his getaway, as the music rises and he climbs out of the alley -

…and then we continue on as normal, as we head to the JEDHA IMPERIAL-OCCUPIED MOON, where the defecting cargo pilot Bhodi is captured by Saw’s gang -

…and then we continue on as normal, as we head to the WOBANI IMPERIAL PRISON PLANET and a large transport vehicle appears -

…as we see that Jyn is now aboard the vehicle in chains along with other prisoners -

NOTE - I’d discard the shot which appears at this point of Jyn suddenly sitting upright instead of leaning forward like her other shots - CLICK HERE , and I’d also discard this close-up of the alien which then appears immediately afterwards too - CLICK HERE , as I’d prefer to make it look like the prisoner opposite Jyn is looking over at the stormtrooper guards at this point instead.

…as Jyn is looking back and forth, until the transport vehicle suddenly jolts to a halt -

…as a stormtrooper guard says “WHAT NOW?” as he stands up, and another stormtrooper replies “I DON’T KNOW, MUST BE ANOTHER PICKUP” -

…as the stormtrooper guard says “I THOUGHT WE HAD EVERYBODY”, as he reacts to a knocking sound, and turns around -

…as armed rebel troops board the transport vehicle -

…and the rebels identify Jyn as ‘Liana Hallik’, and free her from her chains. Jyn then proceeds to attack the rebels with a handy shovel, and then runs towards the transport vehicle door to escape -

…as a tall droid stops her, and throws her to the ground -

…as the tall droid says “CONGRATULATIONS, YOU ARE BEING RESCUED…PLEASE DO NOT RESIST” -

…and then we continue on as normal, as we head to YAVIN 4 and the REBEL ALLIANCE BASE -

…as Jyn is taken into the rebel base for questioning -

…and we continue on as normal, as we learn a lot of information about Jyn’s background when she is initially spoken to by General Draven, Mon Mothma, and Captain Cassian Andor -

General Draven speaks saying “YOU’RE CURRENTLY CALLING YOURSELF LIANA HALLIK. IS THAT CORRECT? POSSESSION OF UNSANCTIONED WEAPONS. FORGERY OF IMPERIAL DOCUMENTS. AGGRAVATED ASSAULT. ESCAPE FROM CUSTODY. RESISTING ARREST. IMAGINE IF THE IMPERIAL AUTHORITIES HAD FOUND OUT WHO YOU REALLY WERE, JYN ERSO. THAT IS YOUR GIVEN NAME, IS IT NOT? JYN ERSO, DAUGHTER OF GALEN ERSO. A KNOWN IMPERIAL COLLABORATOR IN WEAPONS DEVELOPMENT.”**

…as Mon Mothma then tells Jyn it’s a chance for her to make a fresh start, and that they think that she can help them…as she then introduces Captain Cassian Andor who proceeds to question Jyn…who tells him that she hasn’t seen her father since 15 years, and that Saw Gerrera saved her life when she was a child, and raised her…but that she hasn’t seen him since years.

…and we also find out that the rebels want her to help them to meet with Saw, to get access to the ‘Imperial defector’ to confirm his story about the weapon, and to try and locate Jyn’s father and bring him back to testify about it to the Senate.

…as Jyn and Cassian walk towards a ship where the tall droid K-2SO is already aboard, as General Draven calls Cassian over to quietly order him to ignore what was said about taking Galen Erso back, and that he’s to kill him instead if he finds him.

…and then we continue on as normal, as Cassian, Jyn, and K-2SO fly off on their mission -

…and then we continue on as normal, as a pair of metal legs approach, and we hear the words “LIES…DECEPTIONS!” -

…as we get our first introduction to Saw Gerrera who suspiciously confronts Bhodi -

…as Saw orders “BOR GULLET!” to his gang, and Bhodi is hooded again and taken away -

…and then we continue on as normal, as a TIE Fighter screams past, and a stardestroyer comes into view in front of the Death Star -

…and then we continue on as normal, as Krennic approaches Tarkin on a stardestroyer, where Tarkin discusses the missing cargo pilot and the need for an immediate test of the weapon…and that failure will find him explaining why to a far less patient audience -

…as Krennic says “I WILL NOT FAIL”, then turns to leave, as Tarkin looks out at the Death Star -

…and then we continue on as normal, as the screen momentarily goes black before the first part of Jyn’s ‘flashback’ dream of past times with her parents begins -

…as Jyn’s father Galen comes over to Jyn saying “WHAT’S THE MATTER JYNA?..ARE YOU AFRAID?”

…and then we continue on as normal, as Galen playfully lifts her up and puts her to bed saying “I’LL ALWAYS PROTECT YOU” -

…and we end on this shot -

NOTE - I’d prefer to have Saw with a headful of hair right from the start, as I found the transformation of him starting out as completely bald to then having an abundance of hair to be quite jarring…so I’d discard the rest of the ‘flashback’ shots which appear at this point which end with his bald appearance opening the hatch - CLICK HERE …and would replace them with an alternative, EXTENDED ‘flashback’ at this point instead…as a way of revealing a devastating aspect of Jyn’s past, while allowing me to include important footage and dialogue from the opening which I liked, but didn’t want to start the movie off with.

…and then we CUT* to another time with Jyn as her ‘flashback’ dream takes a turn for the worse, as a black ship screams downwards towards a planet -

NOTE - I’m content not to show that it was Saw who opened the hatch, as we already hear Jyn tell the rebels that he saved her life and raised her in this restructure…and we’ve also seen that Jyn’s mother contacted Saw earlier in the ‘flashback’ dream too…so we can reasonably assume that a younger (NON-bald preferably 😉 ) Saw came along and rescued young Jyn at that point, due to those reveals -

NOTE - Although Jyn and Cassian now end up walking on the other side of each other, I’m content that in motion it looks as if Cassian ends up starting to move to the other side of Jyn during the hologram shot of Bhodi, due to the way they’ve had to move past other people at this point.

So that’s the way I’d like to see the beginning of this particular movie play out for myself, and one day over the coming weeks I’ll get around to showing how I’d prefer to tweak the way it ends too.

In the meantime, since THE RISE OF SKYWALKER is due for release shortly…I thought it might be fun to describe the scenario I’ve got in mind to alter the most problematic entry in the entire ‘saga’ for myself…so THE LAST JEDI is up NEXT.

'THE HUMANOID' was another Italian 'STAR WARS'-influenced movie, which came out a year later.  While 'STARCRASH' had a score by the great John Barry, this one happened to have a score by the equally great Ennio Morricone!

It's never been released on DVD (only videotape) but it seems to be fully up on Youtube if you root around, and can bear it.

Sadly, I can't seem to find the trailer for it, but here's a taste of what audiences at the time had to put up with to fill their 'STAR WARS' void until 'EMPIRE' came along....

Personally, I’d have preferred THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY movie to have been the ‘KIRK’ character’s FINAL onscreen mission, giving the impression that he’d remained safely ‘signed off’ at the end of it…rather than going on to be permanently ‘killed off’ in a ‘Next Generation’ hand-over!  Talk about an unnecessary cinematic downer for the original series fans…

It was bad enough that we once thought we’d permanently lost ‘SPOCK’ at the end of THE WRATH OF KHAN, lol.  But unlike 'SPOCK’s great ‘death’ scene, the ‘collapsing bridge’ just didn’t satisfy as a way of getting rid of one of Starfleet’s finest this time around…

Okay, although my ideal ending of REVENGE OF THE SITH involves the layout I showed in my previous post, due to the fact that I’d rather include certain imagery of Darth Vader SILENT ( ! ) in the suit…some of you might be interested to see what I ORIGINALLY wanted as an ending when I briefly toyed with the notion of starting my ‘viewing order’ with the PREQUEL TRILOGY ages ago, until I decided against it for the numerous reasons I’ve previously mentioned. -

I’ve got to pick a spot to show how things would have flowed, so this point is as good as any…and of course, everything BEFORE this scene would have been laid out in the exact same way as described in my previous post -

…and then we continue on as normal, as Obi-wan carries Padme down the ramp of her ship, and Bail says “WE’LL TAKE HER TO THE MEDICAL CENTRE, QUICKLY!”

…and we end on this shot -

…and then we CUT* to the Emperor ship’s on a stormy Coruscant platform, as he accompanies Anakin’s medical capsule -

…and we end on this shot -

NOTE - I’d discard the shot of the Emperor’s ship coming in to land on the Coruscant building’s platform before the shot above…as I’ve already seen it fold it’s wings and land on Mustafar earlier anyway, and would just prefer to see the Emperor disembarking with the medical capsule instead, as I like it’s juxtaposition with the shot of everyone getting off Padme’s ship beforehand - CLICK HERE

NOTE - I wanted to get rid of the ‘she’s lost the will to live’ nonsense of course, and I had already put together a version of all the medical facility shots and dialogue which I preferred, and included it here…UNTIL I remembered that someone mentioned in the past that R2D2 shouldn’t really have interacted with Yoda at any point…as they don’t seem to recognise each other when they meet on ‘Dagobah’ in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK! Well this bugged me, as I agree with that…and as far as I recall, this is the only instance we actually see them together throughout the PREQUELS…so while it was a pity to lose shots of the neat medical set, it was more important to me to smooth the continuity better for myself, and I ended up having to redo the whole sequence WITHOUT any of the shots of C3PO and R2D2 inside the actual medical facility with Yoda and Co. …and very luckily, there was just enough of the relevant dialogue in the shots without them to make a new sequence I was satisfied with, before I posted this today. 😃

…and then we CUT* to Obi-wan looking solemn, as he walks over to look through the glass -

…and puts his hand over his mouth, and we end on this shot -

…and then we CUT* to Anakin on an operating table, as medical droids attach metal legs to him -

…as he screams in agony…

…and we end on this shot -

…and then we CUT* to Padme’s head moving slightly, as she exhales her final breath -

NOTE - Yes, Padme remains done for in this version…but she managed to hold out long enough for the medical facility to save her twins, so that’s good. And it also means I can keep the funeral procession scenes which I like. I’d prefer for Padme to be fatally damaged by what Anakin did to her on Mustafar, and unable to say anything before she dies…as it’s all I need to see of her since we last saw her being attended to in the medical facility as shown above, since I’d rather discard the all the child-birth moments in-between! 😃

…and then we continue on as normal, as Obi-wan looks on distressed while holding one of her babies -

…and Yoda turns away sadly, and we end on this shot -

…and then we CUT* to the Tantive ship arriving at Naboo -

…and then we continue on as normal, as Yoda discusses the twins with Bail and Obi-wan aboard the Tantive ship -

…as they agree that the twins should be separated for their safety, before Yoda says “UNTIL THE TIME IS RIGHT, DISAPPEAR WE WILL”, and they bow in respect and go to leave, and we end on this shot -

NOTE - I’d discard the rest of the sequence which appears at this point, where Yoda tells Obi-wan that he has training on Tattooine for him, and that Qui-gon has returned from the netherworld of the Force, and that he will teach him how to commune with him…as I’m just not keen on it personally, and don’t need every single ‘loose end’ explained away. And anyway, there might even be a ‘surprise’ appearance of Qui-gon’s ‘Forceghost’ at the end of THE RISE OF SKYWALKER somewhere for all we know…so I can wait until then to see him appear as one, if that’s the case. 😉

(DELETED SCENE OF NERO BREAKING OUT OF KLINGON PRISON) INSTEAD! AND THEN I’D CUT FROM CLOSE-UP OF NERO SAYING “THE WAIT IS OVER!” DIRECTLY TO 7. (VULCAN CITY), FOLLOWED BY 8. AND 9. (WHICH ENDS WITH ‘THREE YEARS LATER’ WORDING), AND CONTINUE ON WITH 11. (‘SWIPES’ LEFT TO NERO’S NARADA SHIP AS ‘ELDERLY SPOCK’ APPEARS IN HIS JELLYFISH SHIP)

NOTE - I REALLY LIKE PUTTING VULCAN CITY SHOT AFTER ‘STAR TREK’ MAIN TITLE, SO IF I DECIDE AGAINST PUTTING DELETED SCENE OF NERO BREAKING OUT OF KLINGON PRISON IMMEDIATELY AFTER ‘STAR TREK’ MAIN TITLE INSTEAD, THEN I COULD ALTERNATIVELY SLOT IT IN-BETWEEN CLOSE-UP OF KIRK LOOKING UP AT ENTERPRISE BEING BUILT…AND KIRK RIDING HIS BIKE TOWARDS SHUTTLE AND PIKE. THIS WOULD MEAN THAT I WOULDN’T NEED TO CUT SPACE SHOT WITH ‘THREE YEARS LATER’ WORDING AT ALL - ANOTHER THING, I MIGHT DECIDE TO DO AWAY WITH ‘THREE YEARS LATER’ WORDING ALTOGETHER AS THE MUSIC JUST ENDS BEFORE THE WORDING APPEARS…SO I COULD ACTUALLY CUT TO THE ‘SWIPE’ TO THE LEFT TOWARDS THE NARADA SHIP INSTEAD AT THIS POINT SO THAT WE DON’T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT HOW LONG NERO WAS HANGING AROUND FOR ‘SPOCK’ TO APPEAR!

Okay, this is now the *permanently* mucked-up thread, as I've decided to start afresh!  :)
