If I'm reading this latest James Cameron interview below correctly, then it now seems that the 'Future Earth' scenes are being incorporated into the 'finished'-quality extended DVD/Blu-ray version, after all!  :)

Unlike the current 'AVATAR: Special Edition' theatrical re-release which has approx. 9 minutes extra, the 'Collector's Edition' DVD will include a version which has approx. 16 minutes extra added...including over 4 minutes worth of the 'Future Earth' opening.  This is bound to be the definitive version, and these 'grimy cityscapes' should make for a dramatic contrast to the lush jungles of Pandora -  http://www.oregonlive.com/movies/index.ssf/2010/08/interview_with_james_cameron_o.html

Been kinda busy of late, but I meant to add this here about the limited re-release that is currently happening with this, since 27th AUGUST.  I'm disappointed to read that it looks like the 'Future Earth' scenes are still being omitted after all though, and will likely only end up on the longer, 'unfinished' DVD/Blu-ray version  -

IDEAS FOR A COMBINED ‘THE LAST JEDI/THE RISE OF SKYWALKER’ MEGA CUT SEQUEL TO THE ‘FORCE AWAKENS’, AS ONE LONG, EPIC FINALE TO THE ‘SKYWALKER’ SAGA…AND A WAY TO SHOW IN A SINGLE MOVIE THAT SNOKE WAS IN FACT MERELY A CLONE…AS WELL AS A WAY TO INTRODUCE THE EMPEROR AS A ‘WTF’ SURPRISE ELEMENT, WITHOUT IT BEING REVEALED IN THE OPENING SCROLL WORDING BEFOREHAND.

MENTION HOW FRUSTRATING IT’S BEEN TO HAVE TO INCLUDE THE LIKES OF THE ‘QUICKSAND/CAVERN’ SCENE, BECAUSE FINDING THE KNIFE CLUE WAS SO IMPORTANT TO INCLUDE. AND THE SAME WITH HAVING TO GO TO POE’S OLD PLANET TOO, BECAUSE WE NEED TO HAVE C3PO’S MEMORY UNLOCKED TO FIND OUT WHAT THE SITH DIRECTIONS TO EXEGOL ARE.

(NOTE - THE WAY THE MUSIC BUILDS IN THE ‘GROUP’ SHOT/FALCON IN HYPERSPACE’ SHOT GIVES THE IMPRESSION OF A ‘CONCLUSION’ AT THAT POINT…SO CUTTING TO THE INITIAL SCENES FROM ‘THE RISE OF SKYWALKER’ SHOULD GIVE AN ADEQUATE IMPRESSION THAT A PERIOD OF TIME HAS PASSED) - UNFORTUNATELY, THESE SCREENSHOTS CAN’T CONVEY HOW THE MUSIC FITS TOGETHER DURING MY CUTS.

…and continue as normal as he pushes the lid off a stone structure and picks up a Sith Wayfinder, then flies to Exegol to find the Emperor…

…then we CUT to a close-up of Kylo, as we hear the Emperor’s voice say END THE JEDI…AND BECOME WHAT YOUR GRANDFATHER VADER COULD NOT…

…and we end on this shot once Kylo has switched off his lightsaber…

…then we CUT to this close-up of the Emperor smiling as lightening shines on him…

…and continues as normal to black…

the movie normally continues with the Falcon in hyperspace at this point - MIGHT GET RID OF THIS HERE, AND USE ELSEWHERE - NOT SURE YET.

MIGHT GET RID OF CHEWIE, POE, AND FINN PLAYING HOLOCHESS SCENE AT THIS POINT, BUT MIGHT DO A CUT DOWN VERSION OF IT - NOT SURE YET. AND DEFINITELY GET RID OF ALL SHOTS OF THE BIG YELLOW DISNEYFIED ALIEN!

…and then we CUT to Falcon flying towards ice planet…

…and continue on until we end on this close-up of Poe saying T minus 5!..

…then we CUT to the Falcon entering an ice base (GETTING RID OF FINN RUNNING THROUGH A SPARKING FALCON INTERIOR)…

…and continue as normal as the Falcon turns onto a landing pad, and Finn opens the hatch to an alien contact who tells him that he has a message from a spy in the First Order (doesn’t know who it is), but tells him to transfer the message to Leia…

…and continue as normal as TIEs follow the Falcon and Finn shoots back, and Poe asks how many are left, and we end on this shot as Poe says TOO MANY!..

…and then we CUT to seeing an overhead gantry in front of them…

…and then we CUT to Chewie roaring and pointing (which is a brief shot which came slightly EARLIER)…

…and then we CUT to the Falcon turning on it’s side, as Finn blasts the gantry…

…and continue on as normal as the Falcon blasts through an ice wall…

…and we end on this shot of the Falcon flying away…

NOTE: I MIGHT THEN CUT TO THE EARLIER SHOT OF FALCON FLYING THROUGH HYPERSPACE (SEE ABOVE) AT THIS POINT - NOT SURE YET.

…then we CUT to Rey meditating in a jungle in mid air saying BE WITH ME…BE WITH ME…

…and we end on this close-up of Rey as she says THEY’RE NOT WITH ME…

…then we CUT to Rey saying I DIDN’T FINISH THE TRAINING COURSE…I GOT DISTRACTED… (Note - I’m just laying out the EXACT sequence and dialogue here at the moment, without trying out any kind of re-edit at the moment - although IF I do use it, I MIGHT cut directly from Rey saying I KNOW IT LOOKS…to I THINK I’M JUST TIRED, THAT’S ALL…)

…then we continue as Rey puts her staff over her back saying I’M JUST NOT FEELING MYSELF…

…then we continue as Rey says I KNOW IT LOOKS…

…then we continue as Rey says …UH, IT LOOKS LIKE I’M MAKING EXCUSES…

…then we continue as Leia says DON’T TELL ME WHAT THINGS LOOK LIKE, TELL ME WHAT THEY ARE…

…then we continue as Rey says I THINK I’M JUST TIRED, THAT’S ALL…

…then we continue as Rey gives Luke’s now-fixed lightsaber back to Leia…

…then we continue as Rey says I WILL EARN YOUR BROTHER’S SABER…ONE DAY…, as Leia takes it and BB-8 beeps…

…then we continue as Rey laughs a little saying NO, YOU CAN’T DO IT FOR ME…

…then we continue as Leia says NEVER UNDERESTIMATE A DROID!..as she walks away and Rey turns and says YES MASTER…

…then the movie continues as normal, as we see Rey flipping through the Jedi texts. as we see a drawing of a Sith Wayfinder, as a voice shouts REY… (BY THE WAY, LUKE GAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT HE HADN’T READ THEM WHEN YODO ASKED HIM IN THE LAST JEDI, BUT IN THIS MOVIE IT’S MADE OUT THAT LUKE WENT LOOKING FOR THE SITH WAYFINDERS - IS ALL THIS ASSUMPTION ON MY PART CORRECT?? - CHECK PROPERLY)

NOTE - OR I could CUT from Falcon breaking through ice into space…to the shot of Rey flipping through the Jedi texts…so that I miss out the entire scene of her giving Luke’s lightsaber back to Leia (DOES SHE ACTUALLY STILL HAVE IT IN CERTAIN SHOTS BEFORE LEIA GIVES IT BACK TO HER!??)

…then we continue as a female rebel pilot shouts FALCON’S BACK!..and we end on Rey closing the book and getting up to leave quickly…

MISS OUT NEXT SEQUENCE OF FALCON ON FIRE, AS IT’S MAINLY SILLY DIALOGUE - AND SUDDENLY LOOKS LIKE IT’S ALL IN DAYLIGHT COMPARED TO SCENE BEFORE IT!

…then we CUT to a large group of rebels gathered beneath the big Tantive ship, as we hear Poe’s voice say WE’VE DECODED THE INTEL FROM THE FIRST ORDER SPY…

…then we continue as Poe says AND IT CONFIRMS THE WORST…SOMEHOW PALPATINE RETURNED…

…then we continue as there are gasps from the gathering, as Rey looks to her side a little…

…then we continue as Leia looks at Rey and then looks away… (NOTE - THIS SHOT OF HER LOOKS WEIRD SOMEHOW, SO I MIGHT MISS IT OUT OR TRIM IT A BIT - I COULD JUST HAVE HER LOOKING AT REY, OR IF I JUST HAVE HER LOOKING AWAY I WILL BE ABLE TO RETAIN ROSE’S VOICE SAYING WAIT…

…then we continue as ROSE says DO WE BELIEVE THIS?..and we hear a voice say IT CANNOT BE…THE…

…then we continue as the alien rebel says EMPEROR IS DEAD…and we hear a voice say DARK SCIENCE…

…then we continue as a bearded rebel says CLONING…SECRETS ONLY A SITH KNEW… (NOTE - I MIGHT cut SECRETS ONLY A SITH KNEW, as what about the likes of the Kamino cloners in AOTC?, and Luke’s alien pal seemed to know about cloners in general, saying they were good at it - Am I correct in this? Was it outlawed over the years? Also, how would this bearded rebel know that only the Sith knew the secrets of cloning? Check properly)

…then we continue as Poe’s voice says HE’S BEEN PLANNING HIS REVENGE… (NOT SURE IF I’LL MISS OUT THIS REVENGE LINE OR NOT)

…then we continue as Poe says HIS FOLLOWERS HAVE BEEN BUILDING SOMETHING FOR YEARS…

…then we continue as Poe’s voice says THE LARGEST FLEET THE GALAXY’S EVER KNOWN…

…then we continue as Poe says HE CALLS IT THE FINAL ORDER…

…then we continue as Poe’s voice says IN 16 HOURS ATTACKS ON ALL FREE WORLDS BEGIN…

…then we continue as Chewie growls…and we hear Poe’s voice say THE…

…then we continue as Leia says ALWAYS IN THE SHADOWS FROM THE VERY BEGINNING…

…then we continue as we hear a voice say GENERAL…, and Maz turns around…and sees Rey holding a book as she says CAN I SPEAK WITH YOU?..and we hear her say I KNOW HOW TO GET…

…then we continue as Rey says to Leia TO EXEGOL…and Leia says TELL ME…as Rey then says LUKE SEARCHED…

…then we continue as Rey says FOR IT, FOR A LONG TIME…HE NEARLY FOUND IT…as she shows Leia the book and says THERE ARE CYPHERS HERE I CAN’T READ…

…then we continue as Rey flips some pages saying BUT HE SAID TO GET THERE YOU NEED ONE OF THESE…A SITH WAYFINDER… (NOTE - does all this ‘research’ by Luke mean that he read the Jedi texts after all, despite it being implied by Yoda that he might not have in THE LAST JEDI? - Doesn’t matter anyway, as I’d be getting rid of Yoda’s scene in my version)

…then we continue as Rey says THEY’RE COMPASSES THAT LEAD THE WAY TO EXAGOL…

…then we continue as Rey says TO STOP WHAT WE BOTH KNOW IS COMING…I NEED TO FINISH WHAT LUKE STARTED…FIND EXEGOL…

…then we continue as Rey says FIND THE EMPEROR… (NOTE - Leia then says NO…at this point - not sure if I’d include it or not yet)

…and then we CUT to close-up of Rey saying IT’S WHAT YOU WOULD DO…

…then we continue as Rey uncouples a hose on the Falcon in close-up and end the shot JUST BEFORE we hear Poe’s voice say SO… (I’d get rid of Poe saying SO YOU GOT HER UP AND RUNNING…and then Rey saying YOU WERE RIGHT BEFORE…as I’d discard the whole silly sequence where the Falcon is on fire and they have an argument, which that dialogue refers to)

…then we CUT to Rey throwing the hose down under the Falcon as she says I’M GOING TO PICK UP LUKE’S SEARCH FOR EXEGOL…I’M GOING TO START…

…and then continue as Rey says WHERE HIS TRAIL WENT COLD…THE FORBIDDEN DESERTS OF PASAANA…

…and then continue as Poe says YEAH I KNOW, WE’RE GOING WITH YOU…as he pats her on the shoulder…

…and then we continue as normal until we get to the point where BB-8 beeps and C3PO says I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE…and we end on Rey smiling…

…then we CUT to Rey contemplating the jungle as Poe says HEY, WE SHOULD GET GOING…then asks her WHAT IS IT?..and she says NOTHING…so that I can get the beginning of C3PO starting to say IN THE EVENT THAT I DO NOT RETURN…I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT YOU HAVE BEEN A REAL FRIEND ARTOO…MY BEST ONE IN FACT…as he walks off, and we end on R2D2 beeping profusely…

(OR…DO I INSERT KYLO TOUCHING VADER’S MASK WHICH SAYS “JOIN ME…” SCENE IMMEDIATELY BEFORE REY CONTEMPLATING THE JUNGLE SCENE - TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE SHE SENSES KYLO PERHAPS???)

…then we CUT to Leia giving Rey Luke’s lightsaber again…and we end on them hugging… (NOTE - NOT DECIDED YET IF I’D INCLUDE SCENE BEFORE THIS WHERE REY SAYS SHE HAS SO MUCH SHE WANTS TO TELL LEIA, AND LEIA SAYS TO TELL HER WHEN SHE RETURNS, OR NOT. ALSO NOT DECIDED IF I’D INCLUDE THE NEXT SHOT BELOW WHERE LEIA HOLDS REY’S HEAD WHEN HUGGING, OR NOT)

…then we CUT to the Falcon taking off…

…and we continue on as everyone gathers in the Falcon’s cockpit, and it flies away from the jungle planet…

…and we continue as Kylo and his Knights of Ren watch as his helmet is fixed, and they fly back to his Stardestroyer, as we end the scene of them walking down a corridor JUST BEFORE the stormtroopers speak…

…then we CUT to Kylo throwing down the alien contact’s head on a table…

…and then we continue as Kylo walks past those sitting at the table saying WE HAVE A SPY IN OUR RANKS…WHO JUST SENT A MESSAGE TO THE RESISTANCE…WHOEVER THIS TRAITOR IS, WON’T STOP US…WITH WHAT I’VE SEEN ON EXEGOL, THE FIRST ORDER IS ABOUT TO BECOME A TRUE EMPIRE…

…and then we continue as we see Hux seated, as Kylo turns round saying I SENSE UNEASE ABOUT MY APPEARANCE GENERAL HUX…as those opposite Hux look over at him…

…then we CUT to HUX grimacing, as we hear a voice opposite him say FORGIVE ME SIR, BUT THESE ALLIES ON…

…and then we continue as the officer opposite Hux says EXEGOL…THEY SOUND LIKE A CULT, CONJURERS AND SOOTHSAYERS…

…and then we continue as the person beside him says THEY’VE CONJURED LEGIONS OF STARDESTROYERS…THE SIXTH FLEET WILL INCREASE OUR RESOURCES TEN THOUSAND FOLD!..

…and then we continue as the person looks over at Hux saying SUCH RANGE AND POWER WILL CORRECT THE ERROR OF STARKILLER BASE…as we hear a female voice say WE’LL NEED TO INCREASE RECRUITMENT, HARVEST MORE…

…and then we continue as the female voice says OF THE GALAXY’S YOUNG…as the officer then says THIS FLEET…WHAT IS IT, A GIFT?..WHAT IS…

…and then we continue as the officer says HE ASKING FOR IN…

…and then we continue on as we hear the officer say RETURN?..as Kylo suddenly throws him to the ceiling using the Force…and says PREPARE TO CRUSH ANY WORLDS THAT DEFY US…MY KNIGHTS AND I ARE GOING HUNTING FOR THE SCAVENGER…

…and then we continue as the Falcon drops out of lightspeed at the planet Pasaana…

…and then we continue as Poe says SURE THIS IS IT?..and then C3PO says THESE ARE THE EXACT CO-ORDINATES THAT MASTER LUKE LEFT BEHIND…

…and then we continue as the group turn round a bend, and come across a colourful gathering…and Poe says WHAT IS THIS?..and then C3PO says IT’S AGGY AGGY’S FESTIVAL OF THE ANCESTORS…OOH, THIS CELEBRATION OCCURS ONLY ONCE EVERY 42 YEARS…and then Finn sarcastically says WELL THAT’S LUCKY…and we end on C3PO raising his finger saying LUCKY INDEED!.. (NOTE - I’m not certain yet if I’d cut here OR after they all turn round and C3PO looks back and forth at the group OR if I’d just keep the whole scene as it is where C3PO turns to look behind)

…then we cut to a big barbecue and dancing aliens, as Rey says I’VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS…then Finn says I’VE NEVER SEEN SO FEW WAYFINDERS…then Poe says THERE’S ALWAYS RANDOM FIRST ORDER PATROLS IN CROWDS LIKE THESE…as BB-8 looks at a smoke cannister…

…then we continue as Poe says KEEP YOUR HEADS DOWN…CHEWIE…LET’S SPLIT UP, SEE WHAT THE LOCALS KNOW…as Rey turns and stops to look around, and we end on her looking over at some alien children watching a puppet show…

…then we CUT to this shot of the alien children (I’m not keen on the close-up laughing puppet, though it’s no biggie if I keep it in), as we then hear an alien voice, and then hear C3PO’s voice say SHE SAYS WELCOME!..as the female alien drapes a necklace over Rey’s neck…and wants to know Rey’s family name, but Rey says I DON’T HAVE ONE…I’M JUST REY…

…and then we continue as Rey suddenly turns away, and goes looking around in a hurry…and we end on her in Force-contact with Kylo…

…then we CUT to Kylo saying YOU CAN’T HIDE REY…NOT FROM ME…

…and then we continue as Rey says I SEE THROUGH THE CRACKS IN YOUR MASK…YOU’RE HAUNTED…YOU CAN’T STOP SEEING WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR FATHER…

…and then we continue as Kylo says DO YOU STILL COUNT THE DAYS SINCE YOUR PARENTS LEFT?..SUCH PAIN IN YOU…SUCH ANGER…I DON’T WANT TO HAVE…

…and then we continue as we hear Kylo’s voice say TO KILL YOU…I’M GOING TO FIND YOU, AND I’M GOING TO TURN YOU TO THE DARK SIDE…

…and then we continue as Kylo says WHEN I OFFER YOU MY HAND AGAIN…YOU’LL TAKE IT…

and then Rey ignites her lightsaber as the Emperor then says “SHE WILL COME TO ME”, and Rey then slowly walks forwards as she turns to the side to look at the Sith followers who chant -

and we then cut between close-ups of Rey and Kylo in ‘Force communication’ -

and Rey slowly raises her lightsaber behind her back as if to strike, as the Emperor closes his eyes, but instead the lightsaber disappears, as we close-in on the Emperor -

and Kylo now has Luke’s lightsaber behind his back, and begins to fight the Knights with it -

as Rey grabs Leia’s lightsaber from behind her back, and ignites it -

as the Emperor pulls away from Rey as she starts to fight his red guards -

as the Emperor’s voice says “…UNSEEN FOR GENERATIONS…” as we see Kylo and Rey powerless in front of him -

as the Emperor’s voice says “…AND NOW…”, as we see Rey powerless in front of him -

as the Emperor says “…THE POWER OF TWO…RESTORES THE ONE TRUE EMPEROR!”, as he raises his now regenerated hands towards them, and we hear Rey scream -

as the Emperor starts to suck the lifeforce out of Rey and Kylo -

as the Emperor manically laughs and his eyes turn yellow -

as the Emperor continues to suck the lifeforce out of Rey and Kylo, and they eventually fall to the ground -

as Rey falls in close-up as we hear the sound of an X-wing -

…and then we CUT back MUCH SOONER to the Emperor now (INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR THIS WHOLE SECTION OF THE SPACE BATTLE TO CONCLUDE AS NORMAL), as I think it’s better if we get to see him fully restored at this point, so that we keep the momentum up of his transformation, rather than have to wait so long to see what happened with him after Rey and Kylo fell to the ground earlier! (NOTE - IN THE MOVIE, POE WOULD NORMALLY APOLOGISE TO EVERYONE IN DISPAIR AT THIS POINT, AND WE WOULD THEN GO ON TO SEE LANDO APPEAR WITH THE HUGE FLEET - WHICH KINDA MADE US KNOW THAT EVERYTHING WAS GOING TO BE OKAY NOW…BUT BY KEEPING THE ‘CALVALRY’ FROM ARRIVING UNTIL AFTER THE EMPEROR’S FULL TRANSFORMATION, THIS GIVES A LONGER IMPRESSION OF THINGS GOING FROM BAD TO WORSE FOR THE REBELS!) -

…as we CUT to the fully restored Emperor saying “LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE MADE…”, and the Sith crowds chant, as the Emperor acknowledges them -

…as we CUT back to the space battle (JUST AFTER ‘STEPS’ HAD CRASHED), and resume at the point JUST AFTER the exploding X-wing passed the bottom-RIGHT of the screen…so that we now see an exploding Y-wing pass the bottom-LEFT of the screen -

…and continue on as normal as Poe apologises to everyone in dispair -

…and then we CUT to the ship’s no longer being hit by the Emperor’s lightning, as Poe says “I’M BACK ON…THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE, WE GOTTA HIT THOSE CANONS NOW!” (NOTE - IT MAKES MORE SENSE TO ME THAT THE ELECTRICAL BOLTS ARE PAUSED AT THIS POINT WHEN THE EMPEROR GETS DISTRACTED BY REY CONFRONTING HIM AGAIN, INSTEAD OF THE POINT THAT THEY ARE PAUSED IN THE MOVIE! - BUT WILL KEEP TO THIS IF JOINING DIRECTLY TO THE WIDE SHOT OF THE EMPEROR VS REY MAKES IT LOOK LIKE HE’S TOO SUDDENLY OFF HIS THRONE!) -

ALSO - INSTEAD OF WHAT I’VE SHOWN ABOVE, I THINK I MIGHT PREFER TO ALTER THE ENDING EVEN MORE LIKE THIS BELOW! - by fading out the ‘Stardestroyer crashing on Jakku’ shot directly to the ‘blackness of time having passed’ shot as it fades back to the Falcon flying over Tattooine with Rey burying the lightsabres (NOTE - Using my ‘rule’ of whether I would discard a sequence if I’d imagined it was a ‘deleted scene’ which I’d discovered I could incorporate or not…I think I could do without seeing the fleet landing back on the jungle planet, and everyone meeting up - It’s a pity to lose R2D2 and C3PO, but they weren’t given a good ‘send-off moment’ anyway. And I don’t really need to see Rey land the X-wing as she’s greeted by BB8, as they’re seen in the final sequence anyway. Still not sure whether I’d include either a ‘falcon in lightspeed shot’ (there’s quite a good brief one of it coming towards us during the lightskipping scene) or the Chewie/Poe/Finn holochess scene or not…but IF I don’t include Chewie, Finn, and Poe along for the trip on the Falcon with Rey at the end, then this way allows me to imagine that Poe MAY have ended up with his space girl ex., while Finn MAY have ended up with Jennah…rather than seeing Old Lando hitting on her!

ALSO DISCARD SILLY-LOOKING FULL FRONTAL SHOT OF REY AND KYLO GETTING THEIR LIFEFORCE DRAINED, AS THE OVERALL SCENE WILL LOOK BETTER WITHOUT IT.

ADDITIONAL NEW THOUGHTS - I RECKON THAT I COULD END ON SHOT OF EMPEROR’S WIZENED HANDS AS HIS VOICE OFFERS HIM A NEW EMPIRE, THEN CUT OUT NEW ORDER FLEET SHOTS AND DIALOGUE ALTOGETHER AS IT’S RIDICULOUS THEY BREAK OUT OF THE GROUND! - THE FLEET IS MENTIONED BY POE IN HIS LATER TALK WITH THE REBELS, SO JUST KEEP THE FLEET SIZE AS A LATER REVEAL IN THE MOVIE WHEN REY FIRST REACHES IT IN LUKE’S X-WING.

ALSO - HAVE ANOTHER LOOK TO SEE IF I CAN WORK OUT A WAY TO JUST KEEP REY CONFRONTING THE EMPEROR ON HER OWN WITH NO ‘REDEEMED’ KYLO INVOLVEMENT ALTOGETHER! - EITHER HAVE REY KILL HIM WITH HIS OWN LIGHTSABER?..OR STILL HAVE HERE ‘FORCE HEAL’ HIM, AS HE THEN THROWS AWAY HIS LIGHTSABER AND HAS NO FURTHER INVOLVEMENT IN THE MOVIE? - SO THAT I CAN STILL HAVE FADE FROM HIM TO HOLOGRAM SHOT OF EMPEROR TALKING TO PRYDE. IDEAS FOR KING KONG (Peter Jackson’s 2005 version) -

The UNIVERSAL logo appears…

…and then we continue on as normal with the atmospheric music of the UNIVERSAL PICTURES PRESENTS and A WINGNUT FILMS PRODUCTION title cards…and CUT after the KING KONG main title which ends with a slight animal sound…

…then we CUT to a wide shot of New York ZOO with animal noises as our new opening…

…then we CUT to these New York depression era scenes with Al jolson singing…

…and then we continue on as normal, until I CUT the song at the moment the train passes by…

…and then I’d CUT to the solemn music change as we see the theatre being closed…

…and then we continue on as normal as Anne runs towards the locked doors, and then CUT on the two guys faces once the fat woman shouts It’s all right for you, we haven’t had a paycheque in two weeks…how are we gonna eat?..

…then we CUT to Anne trying to get a job off a producer in the street…

…and then we continue on as normal, as he refuses (NOTE - he mentions Jack Driscoll in this scene!) but notices her looking hungrily at people eating, and offers her a tip for a sleezy job with someone he knows, and then the scene ends on her close-up…

…and then we continue on as normal with the shot below of CARL in a projector room (OR I’d CUT to slightly later in the scene - not decided yet)…

…and then after lights go up and a grey haired producer complains about is this all that they are getting for their $40 grand, I’d CUT once the moustached guy says You promised us romantic scenes with Bruce Baxter and Maureen Mackenzie…

…then we CUT to Carl as we hear the bald producer say Carl, you’ve been in production for over two months!..

…then we CUT to Carl getting out of his seat as he says Yes I understand that, but fellas…we’re not making a film anymore, and I’ll tell you why…etc…

(Not 100% decided yet if I’d instead CUT to Carl as he lets slip about hiring a ship to get to a location, followed by the bald producer saying he’s just meant to be shooting on a backlot first…BEFORE I continue on with Carl saying that he understands that as he gets up to talk about how things have changed and that he’s found a map etc. (I need this as a MENTION OF THE MAP before it’s shown again later in his assistant’s dream, and before it blows out of Carl’s hands after that)

…but either way, I’d then CUT at this close-up shot of Carl telling the producers …that’s where I’ll shoot my picture…

…and then we CUT to the close-up of this guy turning round quickly…

and the next shot which follows normally now matches as the grey haired producer still has his hands together at this point…

…and we continue on at this point as Carl is asked to leave by the bald guy, and then gets a glass of his assistant Preston so that he can listen in as the bald producer sticks up for him but the other two producers slag him off and one says Carl will bankrupt them and demands that the animal footage is sold and that they salvage something from this debacle (I MIGHT remove guy saying he’s a preening self-promoter, not sure yet), and I MIGHT CUT to Carl and Preston running away with film cannisters at this point, OR just continue on as normal as a young helper is sent to call Carl back in, but he’s gone…

…and then we continue on with Carl and Preston running off with film cannisters…

…and then after getting chased by the producers as they escape in a taxi, we CUT on close-up of Preston’s face once Carl tells him Don’t worry Preston, I’ve had a lot of practise at this…

…and then after missing out him saying that he’s used to crapping the crappers, we CUT to Carl’s expressive face…

…and then we continue on as normal and then CUT on Preston telling him that ‘Fay’ is dong a picture with RKO…

…and then we miss out Carl saying Cooper huh?, and CUT to him just saying …I might have known

(I MIGHT end up missing out Carl saying that altogether, not sure yet)

…and then we continue on as normal as the yellow taxi heads towards us, as we hear Preston saying You’re not listening, we gotta delay the shoot, shut production down, we can’t sail tonight…

…and then we continue on as normal as Carl gets out (I MIGHT miss out him telling Preston For God’s sake Preston, start thinking like a winner, and just have him say to call Jack as he needs that goddam screenplay only) to look for a girl and spots Anne walking away from the burlesque club, and then saves her skin when she then steals an apple, and then takes her for a meal to talk about his project…and as Carl say’s …this fateful meeting that changes everything we CUT on a close-up of a curious Anne…

NOTE - i like to imagine that Carl mentioned to Anne that Jack Driscoll was writing the script during this conversation, which convinced her to take the chance with him!

…and then we CUT to a foghorn sounding as the the yellow taxi pulls arrives at the docks at night…

…and then we continue on as normal, and then CUT on Carl’s close-up once he’s said I keep tellin’ ya Jack, there’s no money in theatre…you’re much better off sticking with film…

…so I’d miss out Jack saying he loves the theatre and Carl saying he doesn’t or he would have jumped, and INSTEAD we then CUT to one of the producers swiping his hat in frustration at dock with police -

…and then we continue with this CGI’d shot of the ship against the city, but I MIGHT remove it, not sure yet…

…and then we continue on as normal, as Jack is given a place to sleep by Choy and the Captain…

…and then we continue on as normal until we get to this close-up of the chloroform bottles -

…and then we continue on as normal with this ship shot out at sea, and we CUT at the end of it -

…then we CUT to Jack typing in his cage, and continue on as normal as Jimmy the cabin boy says Compliments of the chef… as he drops food off, and we CUT after he puts the tray down -

…then we CUT to Jimmy taking something as he exits the cage and the typing continues…

…and then we continue on as normal as the black crewman Hayne’s takes Jack’s stolen pen off Jimmy, and tells Driscoll he didn’t mean no harm, and that he’ll keep him out of the way, it’s just that he likes it down here, and that he found him there four years ago, and CUT on his side profile once he ends up saying …stowed away in one of them bat cages…

…then we CUT to Hayne’s saying …he was wilder than half the animals in here…

…and then we continue on as normal, and CUT on the close-up of Hayne’s once he says …he still won’t tell me where he came from, but it wasn’t any place good…

(NOTE - I MIGHT miss out Hayne’s close-up and final line, and just end on the shot where he says …he was wilder than half the animals in here… - NOT SURE YET)

…then we CUT to a zoom-in on the ship again, as we hear it’s engines chug and Carl’s voice saying She’s standing at the railing, she doesn’t know it yet…but they are sailing toward disaster…ya got that?, and then we CUT once we hear Jack’s voice saying okay, so she turns… as we hear typing…

…and then we CUT to Carl saying …she has to look away…and that’s when she sees it…

…and then we continue on as normal as Jimmy comes down the ladder slowly…

…and then we continue on as normal, as Jack says Sees what?, what?…and Carl turns to say …the island…, and continues discuss it with Jack, as Carl then spots Jimmy as Jack types out SKULL ISLAND…

…and then we continue on as normal, as we see the front of the ship chasing dolphins, and hear Carl’s voice saying Alright everyone from the top, aaaand ACTION!..

…and we continue on as normal as we see Carl filming a scene with Anne and Bruce the actor…

…and then we continue on as normal as Anne says I think this is awfully exciting, I’ve never been on a ship before…, as Jack smiles watching, and we CUT once Bruce says I’ve never been on one with a woman before!..

…then we CUT to the close-up of Carl scowling as we just make out Bruce saying muffledly …just being around is trouble!, as Carl sees Jimmy whispering to Haynes…

I’d DEFINITELY NOT include the additional horned dinosaur scene as it’s bloated CGI nonsense that’s over-colorgraded and has ridiculous physics, and merely repeats music heard in brontosaurus chase - keep the more mysterious theatrical footage of big trees/jungle as the men follow after Kong.

I’d DEFINITELY NOT include the additional shooting of the giant bird scene, as it just looks stupid.

I’d DEFINITELY NOT include some of the additional soldiers in truck scenes, but WILL INCLUDE the additional Kong jumping on the truck that shoots at him on pond scene.

I WILL INCLUDE the additional raft/giant fish scene.

ADD MORE PICS OF KONG FALLING AND ANNE AND JACK MEETING UP HERE

…then we CUT to close-up of dead Kong’s hand (which is a great music match here), as reporters take photos, and a guy in the crowd yells “KONG!” -

ADD FURTHER PICS HERE WHERE GUY SHOUTS “KONG!” AND OTHER SHOTS OF CROWDS AND REPORTERS, ENDING WITH DENHAM’S CLOSE-UP AS HE SAYS IT WAS BEAUTY THAT KILLED THE BEAST BEFORE HE TURNS AND WE FADE TO BLACK -

My ENDING involves normal footage of Kong falling and Anne getting up and then embracing Jack on top of the Empire State Building…then CUT to close-up of Kong’s hand with photographers on top of him as we hear a guy shout “Kong” (music blends in well with previous shot of Anne and Jack embracing)…then CUT to something involving New York cop as 2 reporters move forward and one says to the other that Kong must have known what was coming…then CUT OUT other reporter saying what does it matter, he was just a dumb animal…and instead CUT to Carl pushing forward as the other reporter then just says that the aeroplanes got him, as close-up of Carl then says that it wasn’t the planes, it was beauty killed the beast, as he turns slightly…then FADE OUT to black (discarding final wide shot of crowds around Kong’s body, as it makes him look small!)…then CUT to end titles and music.

NOTE - DO A NEW ‘GIANT CENTIPEDE’ SEQUENCE, WHICH JUST HAS THE PAN UP TO THE CENTIPEDE STARTING TO CRAWL ALONG THE CEILING (WITH DINOSAUR GETTING CHOMPED IN THE BACKGROUND)…AND THEN CUT TO THE SHOT OF ANNE SCAMPERING OUT.

Yeah vb, I kinda see how that wording could be misconstrued to refer to the ‘Special Edition’ version of things, where we see both Han <span style=“text-decoration: underline;”>and</span> Greedo shooting…and I wouldn’t want that.  But to be equally pedantic, I was meaning the phrase in regards to the original version only, in that Greedo seemed just about to shoot Han, but Han beat him to it…first.

Anyway, back to the trailers…

Being a big fan of the original movie, this was an instance where I was really looking forward to what an ‘updated’ remake might bring.  The signs looked good, as this was going to be directed by the guy that made ‘PREDATOR’ after all.  The original production design and team costumes looked great, but I kinda hoped that the ‘re-imagined’ carnage would involve an assortment of grungy, spiked, ‘MAD MAX’ - influenced costumes, bikes, and post-apocalyptic settings this time around…  And I hoped it would prove to be a worthy successor to the original…  Boy, was I in for a disappointment on both counts, as can be seen below, lol!..

I’D LIKE TO CHANGE A LOT OF THINGS FOR MY PREFERRED VERSIONS OF THE ‘SNYDER TRILOGY’ OF ‘MAN OF STEEL’ / ‘BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE’ / ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’ MOVIES -

‘MAN OF STEEL’ ideas - DON’T INCLUDE scenes with Clark with a full beard, such as the oil rig rescue. And GET RID of the ‘tornado’ scene where Clark’s dad stops him from saving him…which he should have been able to manage easily with his ‘superspeed’! - just make it seem as if his dad passed away sometime 'offscreen! NOTE - However, someone did a neat re-edit of the sequence where it looked like a car unexpectedly struck Clark’s dad when Clark was DISTRACTED handing a child to safety. ** WRITE UP MORE IDEAS HERE WHEN I HAVE TIME **

‘BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE’ ideas - Just END the scene between Batman and Lex Luthor in the jail at the point where Batman punches him! CUT at that point, rather than include the ‘dent’ in the wall, and Lex doing his ‘ding, ding, ding’ dialogue, and make this his FINAL appearance in the ‘trilogy’ - because of the dialogue that Batman says before he ‘brands’ him, we can just assume he ended up in ‘Arkham Asylum’ afterwards! ** WRITE UP MORE IDEAS HERE WHEN I HAVE TIME **

** NOTE: I’ve not decided yet if I would just cut directly to the END CREDITS immediately after Batman punches Lex…OR if I would cut directly to the EXISTING final scenes of Bruce Wayne walking out of the cemetery, followed by Lois at Clark’s graveside, or not **

POTENTIAL IDEA FOR MY PREFERRED NEW ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’ BEGINNING -

Definitely KEEP Zack Snyder’s own version of the opening which ‘recaps’ Superman being killed by Doomsday creature (during previous BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE movie) - for it’s atmospherically dark tone and score, as well as it’s continuous movement showing Superman’s death reverberating across the 3 worlds of Humans, Atlanteans, and Amazonians -

It includes the following titles wording - WARNERS BROS. …and then I’d CUT this Joss Whedon scene once the song ‘Everybody Knows’ ends at this point -

…and then I’d CUT to Zack Snyder’s edit from this point onwards for the Terrorists/Wonder Woman sequence, as the movie is much moodier than Joss Whedon’s version, and has a similar tone to THE DARK KNIGHT opening -

** NOTE: IF I decide that I DON’T want to repeat the CREDITS WORDING in the Joss Whedon ‘Everybody Knows’ title sequence above, I would just CUT directly from Batman jumping off the building to the ‘London Bridge’ shot above to start the Zack Snyder cut of the ‘Terrorists/Wonder Woman’ sequence INSTEAD! - NOTE: ALTHOUGH I WOULD HATE TO LOSE THE FLAG TRIBUTES TO SUPERMAN ACROSS THE GLOBE, AT LEAST I’D BE ABLE TO USE ZACK SNYDER’S FOOTAGE OF HIS MUM LEAVING HER FORCLOSED HOME, WHICH IS MORE ATMOSPHERIC LOOKING **

SLIGHT POSSIBILITY - How would putting the ‘BROOM BOY’ end scene work here?? Would start at the point he comes out to ‘Force-grab’ the broom, and end on close-up of his face after he’s seen a ship accelerate past - so this would allow a ‘time gap’ before returning to the ‘group’ shot (where everyone is positioned differently), and allow for all the re-positioning better. HERE’S HOW -

James Cameron uses DVNR on Aliens Blu Ray transfer.

It the 'color-corrected every frame' comment that's really got me worried!

The 'look' of a movie's colour is one of the things I'm most concerned with when it comes to all these re-releases.

I despise the overly-dark, 'stylised' re-coloration that Ridley Scott did for his ALIEN:DIRECTOR'S CUT, which seems to be the default new colour for the original cut too now, compared to it's great original colouration.  And the same goes for what he did to his BLADERUNNER:FINAL CUT also, which messed with the original's excellent colours.

I wonder how far Cameron has deviated for this BLURAY release now?  The original color is ALREADY perfect on ALIENS (and the 'Special Edition') as it is, so count me nervous again.

Too many directors are fouling up their originals with all this colour-grading nonsense.  It looks like I'll be sticking with more and more DVD originals at this rate...

Awesome find there vaderios.  It would be great if some of us can further assist to help adywan get this eventually, and whatever else he still requires.

That shot looks even more epic now!  Great new tweaking to the colouring, and love being able to make out the stairs now.

Well things are almost back to normal. I'm still on the tablets but the headaches have gone.

 

I've started back to work on ESB:R full time now. The workstation just needs the lights installing but i've got everything set back up so it's full steam ahead ( pictures/ video of the workstation coming next week). The model/ set building resumes at the weekend.

 

Glad to hear things have improved.  Looking forward to seeing your workstation!  :)

From the snippet seen in the final trailer, the overall look now seems far superior to me I have to say, as the SE version is 'blue-tinged' and overly dark compared to how it is now.  And adywan's also done a couple of terrific additional tweaks on top.  Count me delighted with how this turned out.

It's one of the coolest apps. I've ever come across.  There's no doubt that the quality of that guy's version is very impressive compared to the 'official' one.  (Why should I be surprised?)

It mentions at the bottom of that info. page you linked to, that someone called 'Darth Revan' is going to be doing a port for PCs too!  Great stuff.

INITIAL IDEAS FOR 1ST EPISODE OF ‘THE MANDALORIAN’ TV SHOW -

  1. I MIGHT change SILENT silver LUCASFILM logo to SHORTENED ‘fanfare’ version.

  2. DISCARD the ‘shiny characters’ line-up and ‘rainbow star wars’ logo, and instead ADD the SILENT ‘A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away’ blue wording BEFORE cutting to the ‘locator’ beeps and wind of the first shot.

  3. The blue ‘gillman’ alien guy was really annoying, and it would be tempting to cut the ENTIRE first part of the show to get rid of him…EXCEPT I really like some of the initial imagery, so I think it might be possible to DISCARD some of the scenes involving him, and cut directly to the close-up of the Mandalorian pushing him into the chamber to be ‘carbonised’! - POSSIBLY get rid of the CGI’D driverless golden speeder, and just cut to the rusty speeder with the driver after the SPY ALIEN plays his flute?

In the 2ND EPISODE, I might DISCARD everything before the Mandalorian and floating Yodaling walking towards us with the sun behind them (but keep THE MANDALORIAN title??), as they then come across the jawas stripping the ship…OR I MIGHT include initial start of episode where the Mandalorian fights off the Younglings attackers, and then CUT to them walking with the sun behind them (but keep THE MANDALORIAN title??)…while DISCARDING the whole scene of the Mandalorian attending to his wound as the Yodaling puppet tries to heal him.

6th POST

Okay, I’m now going to describe how I’d like to see the beginning of ROGUE ONE done differently, but first, I’d like to discuss the new intro. layout that DISNEY came up with for their movies -

Like others at the time, I sorely missed the familiar 20TH CENTURY FOX logo and fanfare for a little extra bit of anticipation before the iconic blue A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… wording silently appeared to introduce the crescendo of the equally iconic STAR WARS main title and scroll theme…and found the new replacement to be very weak sauce and lacklustre in comparison. In addition to that, I also disliked the way the new silver LUCASFILM logo and blue wording were both reduced in size compared to the bigger versions previously seen at the start of THE FORCE AWAKENS.

So for my own viewing purposes someday, I’d much prefer to REINSTATE the 20th CENTURY FOX logo and fanfare at the start of THE FORCE AWAKENS, THE LAST JEDI, and THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, to restore some continuity throughout the Original Trilogy, Prequel Trilogy, and Sequel Trilogy ‘Skywalker saga’ movies for myself.

However, I’m content that the lack of fanfare intros./scrolls for the ‘standalone’ movies such as ROGUE ONE and SOLO helps to differentiate them from the ‘main 9-movie saga’ for myself anyway…although I’d prefer to give them a similar new silent intro. instead, which includes a certain ‘Star Warsy’ element which I really missed.

So here’s my proposed NEW OPENING for ROGUE ONE which I’d prefer to see - I had originally intended to COMPLETELY DISCARD ALL THE OPENING SCENES of the existing movie…and begin with the ‘the planet Jedha with the defecting cargo pilot and Saw’s gang’ instead…as I’m not too keen on the current opening, nor the fact that we start off with Jyn as a youngster, nor the fact that Captain Ando ruthlessly backshoots his defenceless contact when we first meet him - so I wanted to introduce the two main protagonists in a different way, and preferred to just have Captain Ando first appear at Jyn’s interrogation at the rebel base instead, seeing as it works as a good introduction to him, where he explains everything anyway.

HOWEVER, I eventually decided to start off with the two main protagonists rather than the defector after all, but WITHOUT Captain Ando killing his contact -

6th POST

So here’s my proposed new opening for ROGUE ONE now.

There’s a LOT I like about this movie, but once again there’s plenty throughout I’d prefer to alter. However, the MAIN thing I would change for myself is the way the beginning was structured. My own preference would be to start off with Jyn as an adult, rather than as a child…and luckily, there’s a straightforward way to do this without scrapping all of the early scenes.

But before I start, I’d like to mention the opening title introduction to the movie first -

Like others, I really missed the familiar 20th Century Fox logo and fanfare, but to have it open SILENTLY without the usual STAR WARS title and scroll theme music too, felt really jarring at the time…and seemed pretty weak sauce compared to the triumphant introduction of previous entries in the franchise.

And on top of that, I didn’t care for the fact that the new silver LUCASFILM logo and it’s follow-up blue wording had been shrunk in size as seen here -

But I’m using ROGUE ONE to END my personal ‘Star Wars saga’ viewing order on, as I just look on it as an additional fun watch AFTER the ‘main’ 9-chapter ‘SKYWALKER’ storyline concludes…so I’m content for the likes of it and other ‘standalone’ movie storylines such as SOLO to start off less bombastically than the ‘main saga’ chapters do anyway, as a way to differentiate them somewhat.

However, I’d still prefer to alter the current opening intro a little for myself, to restore just a bit more of that ‘Star Warsy’ anticipation which I missed…and there are a couple of options which I’m considering -

One would go like this -

We START OFF with the familiar 20th Century Fox logo and fanfare

NOTE - I believe there’s a new Disney version of the logo without the ‘A News Corporation Company’ now, so I’d probably use that.

…but the fanfare would finish over the LARGER silver LUCASFILM logo which was seen in THE FORCE AWAKENS instead -

…before the blue wording silently appears and eventually fades away too -

…and at this point, the movie begins.

However, here’s an alternative version which I’m equally mulling over too…which I’ll use as the introduction to start off my alterations now -

We START OFF with the familiar STAR WARS title, as it SILENTLY recedes away from us and fades out -

…as the silver LUCASFILM logo silently appears -

…before the blue wording silently appears and eventually fades out too -

…and then we CUT* to the ROGUE ONE title as the main theme music kicks in -

…as we pan down to a busy marketplace, and get our first introduction to Cassian Andor -

…and then we continue on as normal, as Cassian turns to run down an alley, and meets up with a contact who’s nervously waiting to tell him some news from Jedha. The contact tells Cassian “AN IMPERIAL PILOT…ONE OF THE CARGO DRIVERS, HE DEFECTED YESTERDAY…HE’S TELLING PEOPLE THEY’RE MAKING A WEAPON…THE KYBER CRYSTALS, THAT’S WHAT THEY’RE FOR”

Then Cassian asks “WHAT KIND OF WEAPON?”, as the contact anxiously tries to leave saying “LOOK, I HAVE TO GO”

…as Cassian suddenly grabs him and shoves him back, demanding “WHAT KIND OF WEAPON?!”

…as the contact yells “A PLANET KILLER!”

…and we end on this shot -

NOTE - This isn’t a biggie by any means, but I’d prefer to discard the shot which appears at this point of the contact yelling “THAT’S WHAT HE CALLED IT!”, as he knocks Cassian’s hand away - CLICK HERE , because Cassian is then seen to still be holding the contact’s coat in the next shot immediately afterwards…and although the contact’s face is not lined up exactly between the two shots I’d join together instead, I reckon it would look less jarring in motion than seeing Cassian still holding his jacket after being shrugged off…as the contact is then seen to shrug off Cassian’s hand just afterwards anyway.

NOTE - I’d prefer to discard the scene which appears at this point of Cassian saying “CALM DONW, CALM DOWN…IT WILL BE ALRIGHT” as he then back-shoots his unsuspecting contact - CLICK HERE, as that put me right off his character from the start when he did that. When Cassian has no choice but to escape himself, I’d rather have seen him just having to leave his unfortunate contact to an uncertain fate, instead of ruthlessly backshooting him…as I wanted to like his character better during this first impression of him, and he was already a ‘badass’ after shooting the two stormtroopers.

…and then we CUT* to a close-up of Cassian tucking his blaster away as an alarm blares -

NOTE - I’d discard the beginning of the shot which appears at this point of Cassian looking down - CLICK HERE , and just start from the point where he’s already turned to make his escape, which will give the impression that he’s just having to leave his contact behind to his fate.

…as we see that Jyn is now aboard the vehicle in chains along with other prisoners -

…and the rebels identify Jyn as ‘Liana Hallik’, and free her from her chains. Jyn then proceeds to attack the rebels with a handy shovel, and then runs towards the transport vehicle door to escape -

…as a tall droid stops her, and throws her to the ground -

…as the tall droid says “CONGRATULATIONS, YOU ARE BEING RESCUED…PLEASE DO NOT RESIST” -

…and then we continue on as normal, as we head to YAVIN 4 and the REBEL ALLIANCE BASE -

…as Jyn is taken into the rebel base for questioning -

…and we continue on as normal, as we learn a lot of information about Jyn’s background when she is initially spoken to by General Draven, Mon Mothma, and Captain Cassian Andor -

General Draven speaks saying “YOU’RE CURRENTLY CALLING YOURSELF LIANA HALLIK. IS THAT CORRECT? POSSESSION OF UNSANCTIONED WEAPONS. FORGERY OF IMPERIAL DOCUMENTS. AGGRAVATED ASSAULT. ESCAPE FROM CUSTODY. RESISTING ARREST. IMAGINE IF THE IMPERIAL AUTHORITIES HAD FOUND OUT WHO YOU REALLY WERE, JYN ERSO. THAT IS YOUR GIVEN NAME, IS IT NOT? JYN ERSO, DAUGHTER OF GALEN ERSO. A KNOWN IMPERIAL COLLABORATOR IN WEAPONS DEVELOPMENT.”**

…as Mon Mothma then tells Jyn it’s a chance for her to make a fresh start, and that they think that she can help them…as she then introduces Captain Cassian Andor who proceeds to question Jyn…who tells him that she hasn’t seen her father since 15 years, and that Saw Gerrera saved her life when she was a child, and raised her…but that she hasn’t seen him since years.

…and we also find out that the rebels want her to help them to meet with Saw, to get access to the ‘Imperial defector’ to confirm his story about the weapon, and to try and locate Jyn’s father and bring him back to testify about it to the Senate.

…as Jyn and Cassian walk towards a ship where the tall droid K-2SO is already aboard, as General Draven calls Cassian over to quietly order him to ignore what was said about taking Galen Erso back, and that he’s to kill him instead if he finds him.

…and then we continue on as normal, as Cassian, Jyn, and K-2SO fly off on their mission -

…and then we continue on as normal, as a pair of metal legs approach, and we hear the words “LIES…DECEPTIONS!” -

…as we get our first introduction to Saw Gerrera who suspiciously confronts Bhodi -

…as Saw orders “BOR GULLET!” to his gang, and Bhodi is hooded again and taken away -

…and then we continue on as normal, as a TIE Fighter screams past, and a stardestroyer comes into view in front of the Death Star -

…and then we continue on as normal, as Krennic approaches Tarkin on a stardestroyer, where Tarkin discusses the missing cargo pilot and the need for an immediate test of the weapon…and that failure will find him explaining why to a far less patient audience -

…as Krennic says “I WILL NOT FAIL”, then turns to leave, as Tarkin looks out at the Death Star -

…and then we continue on as normal, as the screen momentarily goes black before the first part of Jyn’s ‘flashback’ dream of past times with her parents begins -

…as Jyn’s father Galen comes over to Jyn saying “WHAT’S THE MATTER JYNA?..ARE YOU AFRAID?”

…and then we continue on as normal, as Galen playfully lifts her up and puts her to bed saying “I’LL ALWAYS PROTECT YOU” -

NOTE - I’d prefer to have Saw with a headful of hair right from the start, as I found the transformation of him starting out as completely bald to then having an abundance of hair to be quite jarring…so I’d discard the rest of the ‘flashback’ shots which appear at this point which end with his bald appearance opening the hatch - CLICK HERE …and would replace them with an alternative, EXTENDED ‘flashback’ at this point instead…as a way of revealing a devastating aspect of Jyn’s past, while allowing me to include important footage and dialogue from the opening which I liked, but didn’t want to start the movie off with.

…and then we CUT* to another time with Jyn as her ‘flashback’ dream takes a turn for the worse, as a black ship screams downwards towards a planet -

…and then we CUT* to an old woman sitting beside a hologram of Bhodi, as we hear an announcement saying “…YOU MUST COME FORWARD WITH INFORMATION OF THE LOCATION OF THIS MISSING CARGO PILOT…” -

NOTE - Although Jyn and Cassian now end up walking on the other side of each other, I’m content that in motion it looks as if Cassian ends up starting to move to the other side of Jyn during the hologram shot of Bhodi, due to the way they’ve had to move past other people at this point.

So that’s the way I’d like to see the beginning of this particular movie play out for myself, and one day over the coming weeks I’ll get around to showing how I’d prefer to tweak the way it ends too.

In the meantime, since THE RISE OF SKYWALKER is due for release shortly…I thought it might be fun to describe the scenario I’ve got in mind to alter the most problematic entry in the entire ‘saga’ for myself…so THE LAST JEDI is up NEXT.

'THE HUMANOID' was another Italian 'STAR WARS'-influenced movie, which came out a year later.  While 'STARCRASH' had a score by the great John Barry, this one happened to have a score by the equally great Ennio Morricone!

It's never been released on DVD (only videotape) but it seems to be fully up on Youtube if you root around, and can bear it.

Sadly, I can't seem to find the trailer for it, but here's a taste of what audiences at the time had to put up with to fill their 'STAR WARS' void until 'EMPIRE' came along....

By the way Bingowings, can you maybe give an idea of the way that guy's original version differs from this 'official' one sometime?  I'm curious to know how they differ.  Thanks.
