IDEAS FOR A RECUT OF 'INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL -
The END scenes as they appear in their current order -
- …Mac makes his escape from the rotating room, as Indy notices and looks round (NO music, just sounds) -
- …as Mac enters into the treasure room, runs up the steps, then turns back to steal some treasure (NO music, just sounds) -
- …as the crystal skeletons continue to spin around in the room, and Indy and co. look around (NO music, just sounds) -
- …as Mutt says “What are they, spacemen?”, and Ox replies ‘inter-dimensional beings in point of fact’, and Indy says “Welcome back Ox!”, as we pan up to see the underside of a spacecraft -
- …as Marion says “What the hell is that?”, and Ox points up as he replies “A portal, a pathway to another dimension!”, and Indy says “Don’t think we want to go that way”, as he pushes Marion and Ox out of the spinning room, and he and Mutt get sucked out as Spalko’s goons get sucked upwards shrieking (NO music initially, but it starts just before Marion says “What the hell is that?”) -
- …as a close-up of Spalko says “I want to know…I want too know…tell me…I’m ready, I want to know!” (Music ‘chord changes’ here) -
- …as Indy and co. run up the steps in the treasure room, and he turns to shout “Mac…Mac…come on…Mac…Mac, dammit, now!”, as the room shakes violently and Mac falls to the ground, as Indy starts to reach for his whip (Music ‘chord changes’ here) -
- …as Spalko spins around in the middle of the crystal skeletons, as she says “I can see…I can see!” (Music ‘chord changes’ with lots of sounds) -
- …as Indy throws his whip towards Mac shouting “Grab it!” as room shakes, then shouts “Use your legs Mac, I can’t do it alone!”, as Mac shouts “Jonesy!”, then winks, then says “I’m going to be alright”, as he starts to float off the ground (Music ‘chord changes’ here) -
- …as the spinning crystal aliens merge into a single alien, as Spalko says “No more!”, and the alien fully forms -
- …as Spalko’s close-up says “Cover it…cover it!”, and the alien glowers menacingly -
- …as Mac rises higher and loses grip of the whip, and yells as he gets sucked away, as Indy and co. escape up the steps as Indy shouts “Go!” (Music ‘chord changes’ here)-
- …as the alien ‘leans in’ towards Spalko, and she shouts “Enough…enough!” as her eyes burn, and the alien glowers menacingly at her as she yells and burns upwards -
- …as Indy and co. enter a watery area, and he says “Go…go!”, then they run through giant water gears (NO music, just sounds) -

THIS MIGHT BE MY POTENTIAL NEW ORDER - CUT FROM SCENE 1. TO SCENE 3., THEN TO SCENE 2., THEN TO SCENE 4., THEN TO SCENE 5., THEN MIGHT DISCARD SCENE 6. (if pacing/sound allows) AND GO DIRECTLY TO SCENE 7., THEN DEFINITELY DISCARD SCENE 8. (Spalko ‘getting knowledge’ in middle of crystal skeletons) AND GO DIRECTLY TO SCENE 9. (Indy and co. running up steps, as he turns to get Mac) - THESE CUTS SO FAR ARE PRETTY MUCH SET IN STONE TO ME, BUT MIGHT THEN CUT TO SCENE 12., THEN TO SCENE 1O., AND FINISH THIS OFF (do I totally discard Indy and co. running into the stone ‘well’ which fills with water and deposits them out at the top of it? - as I’m already including ‘water gears’ scene, I could at some point just cut to them 'scrambling in the water, then looking down at the land below swirling around)
MY PROPOSED NEW RESTRUCTURED ENDING OF ‘INDIANA JONES 4’ FOR MYSELF -
…as Ox says “THROUGH EYES AT LAST I SAW IN TEARS…”, and Mutt finishes off his sentence saying “…A GOLDEN VISION REAPPEARS!” -
…and we continue on as normal, as Indy stares up at an unusual-shaped waterfall -
…as Mac says “GOLD…I’M IN”, and Mutt says “THROUGH EYES…THROUGH EYES IN TEARS, WE GOT TO GO THROUGH THAT WATERFALL!” -
(PUT THIS INFO. IN A BLUE BOX - I’d DISCARD the following shots of Indy taking the skull off Ox and saying that he’s been ‘told to take it back’, as Ox then is back seen carrying it when they enter the cavern hidden behind the waterfall, and Indy’s ears seem to really stick out in these shots!)
…and then CUT to a close-up of the ‘cliff-face waterfall’ -
…and we continue on as normal, as Indy & co. enter the cavern hidden behind the waterfall, and come across a cave painting, as Mutt finds a recently extinguished firetorch -
…and we continue on as normal, as Indy leads the way with the firetorch, and comes across more cave paintings of alien astronauts, as Ox presses onwards -
…and we continue on as normal, as Indy & co. venture further into the caverns, as a watchful eye looks on at them -
…and we continue as normal, as Indy & co. keep moving, and we slowly head towards the area behind them -
(PUT THIS INFO. IN A BLUE BOX - I’d DISCARD the shots of the natives breaking through the walls and ceilings, as although it seems quite a neat image, it’s utterly ridiculous to think they were actually waiting in there!)
…then CUT to Indy & co. stopping to turn around as they hear a ‘whirring’ sound, and we see several natives following them -

…our heroes run down the side of a circular stone wall as the steps get shorter and shorter, until we end on a close-up of Ox’s feet slipping off -
PUT THIS INFO. IN BLUE BOX - At this point we see TWO shots of our heroes and the crystal skull falling into the water below. (PUT THIS INFO. IN BLUE BOX - At this point Marion and Indy then lean in to try to kiss each other, but Mutt pops up in-between them to break them up. …and then we continue on as normal, as Indy leads the gang out of the watery cavern, and we end on this shot -
…and then we continue on as normal, as the group keep walking with a suspicious Mac at the rear, and we see a flashing tracking device on the ground -

…as we continue on as normal, as the group looks around and Indy speculates that the aliens are ‘collectors’ and ‘archeologists’, before he uses Ox’s crystal skull to open a big red doorway which leads to a circular room with several seated crystal skeletons…and Mac pulls a gun as Spalko appears with her armed goons, and takes Ox’s skull to attach it to it’s body…as it moves and everyone backs away, as Ox comes forward and talks in Mayan which Indy translates to Spalko…
