Enemy of the World and most of Web Of Fear it is then.

Better than nothing by a long chalk but the earlier reports a hundred or so episodes were flash in the pan.

Terrific news about these of course, but I'm glad I kept my expectations low about the actual episodes discovered as the early breathless reports seemed a little *too* good to be true.

And yet...there's still various hints that these are just an initial dripfeed of what's been found, and that there will be further announcements down the line.  But if there's nothing more mentioned during the full-blown 50th Anniversary stuff, then we'll know for certain that this is really all that's been located in this instance, after all.  I remain cautiously optimistic until that point.

Given the amount of 'repeats' the BBC has been so fond of giving us over the years (some welcome, some not), I still find it incredible that there was a time where they routinely and short-sightedly erased some of their output in the past.

And it's especially a tragedy that a lot of the earliest classic 'Doctor Who' episodes were lost due to this mis-management.

So while I'm keeping my expectations in check, I'm extremely pleased that *some* of these lost episodes seem to have been finally located somehow.  What a great boost for the upcoming 50th Anniversary hoopla.  Looks like it's now going to be another couple of days or so for the full reveal of exactly what...but fingers crossed for some complete story arcs, whatever the number found -

So you made this too, huh?

Thing is Kurgan, while the word itself is generic and common...it's long been associated with adywan's ongoing project...where *'fanedits'* are concerned.  In my opinion, certainly.

And I don't see anything in his post that 'claims' it anyway.  He just pointed out the fact that he's ended up getting lots of bothersome queries about it...which is due to the fact that others also seem to associate any 'Star Wars' edits with that title as perhaps being by him too...

G'night all.

*EDIT* -  Wait!...I just realised that you actually meant that those *asking* adywan about it being his work or not, were the ones at fault.  It was just the way you wrote that, so if I picked you up wrongly, then I apologise Kurgan.

I really must get some sleep it seems...

On another note, it seems a new fan edit is causing me all sorts of headaches...

http://fanedit.org/ifdb/component/content/article/79-fanedit-listings/fanfix/938-star-wars-episode-i-return-of-the-sith-revisited-edition

I'm getting numerous messages and emails from people asking me where they can get the edit, why have i done episode 1 before finishing ESB:R, etc etc. I guess they didn't bother to check the editors name before bombarding me with all these questions. lol

I had a notion that this edit by seciors might lead to confusion amongst some, when I read up on it a while back.

I've yet to watch it, but he seems like a talented faneditor, and he's certainly incorporated lots of changes to his 'Episode I' version that I'm interested to see.  It was called 'Revisited Edition' because of it being an HD re-do/improvement of an earlier version he released.  And for those that don't know, amongst the other edits he's released is one called 'The Abyss:Revisited Edition' and he's planning another called 'Titanic:Revisited Edition' eventually too.

And Monroville's currently stalled 'ALIEN:Revisited' is yet another title that potentially causes confusion.

Thing is, while there's certainly no rule or obligation in fanediting circles to not use 'Revisited' in their edit titles...I just kinda think that it's become so associated with adywan's groundbreaking project, that there *should* be! :)

Despite my mis-givings, I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**
Time

Sure Laserschwert, by 'if all else fails' I meant that at least we're likely to get a great 'Star Wars' soundtrack *even* if J.J. turns in a production that matches Bingowings' list of George's prequel failings.  But I'm hopeful J.J. ends up better delivering on some of those other aspects, of course.

(by the way, look out for another PM over the next couple of days, as I have some news to update you with!)

The problem was the story was boring and badly written and badly acted and directed and designed.

Those guys should've just used *this* as their template for what J.J. should avoid...

At least he's got John Williams on board to make things *sound* good again, if all else fails.

ROTJ:R, ANH:R (HD) and I, II & III will all be worked on simultaneously. No word yet on if they will be released all together or one at a time.

I read about the intention to work on I, II & III simultaneously on doubleofive's 'Wordpress' news updates, but I didn't realise that adywan was *also* planning to undertake those at the exact same time as his 'ROTJ:R' and 'ANH:R(HD)' edits too...

Which makes things even more incredible muddyknees, if that's the case!

That's gonna make for a heap of new threads and ideas for us all to follow when that time comes, although I suppose there only needs to be a single one to cover updates/suggestions/'Frink'isms etc. for the I, II & III edits themselves - if that's judged preferable to three separate threads.

Lots to look forward to then, and it'll be a job just to keep up with it all. :)

For one thing, he's not doing this just for himself. He's doing it for all to enjoy. Hence the reason why he's taken in fan input and instilling it into his edits. Nobody would go through all this trouble if they weren't. The Revisits are well known across the net and this will be his legacy when it is all said and done.

Indeed, but I meant this was a personal project for adywan first and foremost, even though he's kindly letting us all join in on the fun along the way - which entails him wanting to improve on the current 'Special Edition' OT rather than anything else first , before eventually having a stab at the rest once that's complete.

Certainly, I'm real glad that he's concentrating on the whole OT first, and leaving the rest till afterwards.

Hey, Ady, if you think the PT is trash, then why not just do the OT, instead? But why bother working on something that's already good, anyway? I mean, if any movie needs fixing, it's one of the Prequels. That's the real challenge, and one that everybody is only interested in seeing done. Hence the inspiration for so many fanedits across the net.

The OT certainly *used* to be good, but we've never been given a proper high quality DVD/BLU-RAY release of any of it as it used to be...and the subsequent 'Special Editions' have each been sullied with some pretty poor editing choices/changes over the years, and are no longer so good.

So I for one am looking forward to seeing all three of the existing OT movies being given such a rigorous overhaul by adywan, with so many attentive fixes along the way.  And some of his early intentions for 'ROTJ:R' already sound intriguing.  He's doing these primarily for his *own* satisfaction at the end of the day, so that's why he's doing these in the first place - and the current versions are still there for anyone that prefers sticking with those.  Me, I'll be watching the 'Revisited' versions in future.

As far as the 'prequels' go, not everyone will be interested in seeing those 'Revisited', no matter how adywan goes about playing around with them...because there's just *so many* poorly written and performed moments throughout each of them, unfortunately.

And yet, there's *so many* different ways to alter them to improve things a little, so I'll certainly be one of the many interested to see how he chooses to personally alter things for himself, when the time comes.

Now 'prequel' talk...begone for now!

Something i'm working on at the moment. Still a lot of cleaning up work to do before the paint job, but this should be ready to film in the next few days. You can see the scale of this thing by the power drill propping up the speeder flap

Damn, your standards are slipping a little, as I was actually hoping that was a 'spraying booth'...

The 'speeder flap' looks terrific however! And I'm looking forward to seeing it in motion eventually.  ;)

...or how about the possibility that Boba *didn't* actually go on to follow the Falcon in his Slave I himself at that moment...but instead headed for the Executor to give his update to Vader personally, so he could 'hitch' a lightspeed lift with him to Bespin before the Falcon arrived?

Whatever the scenario that can be imagined, I certainly prefer the current extra distance put between the Falcon and Slave I by adywan's preview regardless...but also prefer to leave the possibilies open-ended *without* the added 'lightspeed jump' effect, so that we continue to end the scene on an ominous note with Boba looking out his viewscreen before we transition back to Dagobah.

I think it's a foregone conclusion Simon Pegg will get his friend J.J. to cast him in this. To me it just seems too obvious to not happen.

As he's a huge fan of the OT (although an outspoken critic of the Prequels), I was originally resigned to this possibility too.

I like Pegg, but unless he's just given say, an unrecognisable cameo as a background character under some heavy make-up...then he'll end up 'taking me out' of this next instalment quicker than TPM's opening scroll did!

So I'm personally hoping he means what he says here on the issue - http://www.express.co.uk/news/showbiz/419070/The-World-s-End-star-Simon-Pegg-not-keen-on-JJ-Abrams-reunion-for-Star-Wars-Episode-VII

Yeah, I'm really pleased with that outcome. :)

Although I grew to like Matt Smith too, I was ready for an older take on the character at this point.  Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker were the ones I grew up with as a young 'un, and I'm hoping Capaldi might end up as memorable as those two.

someone suggested the arm band restraints are made of carbonite... Quite like that.

Yes, I quite like that notion too which explains the current inconsistent footage between ESB and when Han is freed in ROTJ.  They just 'melted' away during the overall 'carbon' freezing process.  It's certainly an explanation that would have satisfied me a bit more over the years.

It looks great adywan, and look forward to seeing how things pan out with this eventually.

Just watched Harmy's ESB today & noticed the stop motion Han & Tauntaun that appears through Ben's Ghost looks a bit odd....it looks a bit toyish, Han's head looks too big in scale to the Tauntaun.

Seems fine to me, but then I'm always distracted by how 'bandy-legged' the Tauntaun looks in that particular running shot... :)
