I’m liking the ‘Deathtroopers’ shot amongst these - www.makingstarwars.net/2016/08/new-rogue-one-a-star-wars-story-images-surface/

I wonder if ‘Director Krennic’ has his own ‘Stardestroyer’? Or does he just happen to be aboard a standard one? Or is he aboard the ‘Executor’ even? (although I’m not sure if it already existed pre-ESB or not)

Yeah, I liked that scene in the first trailer because her look and the way she says it felt more to me like she was mocking the Rebels use of the phrase than being genuine about it, and that made me really happy.

Hmmm, I gotta say that I liked Jyn’s line reading from the first trailer too. It reminded me of the fact that Han said the phrase to Luke when he was initially about to leave the rebels to it, in ANH…even though he didn’t really believe in it. I got that same impression about Jyn’s attitude to ‘The Force’ from the first trailer, but this more earnest version makes it sound that she does believe in it - which would make for a very different character trait if that’s the case.

Oh well, at least it’s good to see that the ‘forehead gash’ has been re-instated after all the fuss. 😉

I don’t think Threepio’s silver leg in the OT ever got this much scrutiny. 😉

Actually it did…as during the scene where R2 is ‘welding’ the seated one-legged C3PO aboard the Falcon towards the end of ESB, it turns out that for some reason he’s suddenly got a GOLD front shin section on his otherwise SILVER right leg…whereas before and afterwards his right leg has SILVER front and back sections as normal. 😉

I mentioned it on adywan’s ‘ESB:Revisited’ thread yonks ago, but I don’t know if he can do anything about it or not.

And regarding threepio’s arm, he has a line (to bb-8 I think) about needing to get his normal arm reattached. Then later we see he has done just that. I agree it’s a little awkward and not very clear, but the pertinent info IS in the film.

Correct, at the point where Leia and Han meet up facing each other, he walks offscreen with BB-8 saying “Yes, I must get my proper arm re-installed”.

It comes across as an off-the-cuff line, and it’s easy to miss as you watch Leia facing Han, but it’s there. And I admit I just never picked up on the fact that he’d gone ahead and done it in that last ‘group’ shot!

However, it still doesn’t explain ‘why’ he had the red arm attached in the first place, so if he’s got it back on at any point during the next movie, I just think it would be quite neat to actually hear the ‘official’ explanation briefly. But if he’s back to the gold one from now on, while it would still be nice to have it explained onscreen, it won’t really matter…as that little snippet of dialogue at least explains the swap by the end of TFA.

(as a little aside, there seems to be a ANOTHER protocol droid very close to C3PO and Leia during that final ‘group’ shot - a RED one as it happens…and if C3PO sticks to his gold arm in future without any kind of explanation about it in the next movie, then I might just as easy imagine that it had something to do with that particular droid, for some unknown reason!)

I return you all back to our regular ROGUE ONE programming.

Here’s a better link and a nice bedtime story by the man himself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOuF2yh1lKU&t=47m15s

Just a thought, but with C3PO reverting back to his golden arm during his last shot in TFA, I wonder if it will stay that way or not when he’s seen again in the next movie?

If it stays gold without any explanation whatsoever, then that might leave a lot of people who don’t know it’s ‘backstory’ scratching their heads…whereas if it’s back to red again without any explanation, then it will remain looking as if it’s been a continuity mistake…

But there could be a nicely poignant moment to be had in the next movie, if C3PO actually summarizes the reason he wears it sometimes…and I’m kinda hoping that this happens now!

Anyway, back to the…er…‘speculation’ about what ROGUE ONE is going to bring.

I agree and the red arm thing was beyond strange. It’s not explained what happened to his original arm and then when Rey and Chewie are going to Ahch-To his arm is fixed. It’s a nitpick but it was still weird. At least R2 looked good.

I can’t believe I didn’t notice that before!

After all the ‘backstory’ attributed to the ‘red arm’ thing, is J.J. messing with us in this final shot of C3PO?..as he’s even waving his intact left arm at us all…

I demand a new all-gold TFA figure that looks like this! 😉

When I saw my first preview pic of C3PO, I initially thought it signified something to do with the ‘First Order’ - due to the fact that there’s a lot of red in their symbolism. Even the new TIES have a flash of red on them. To be honest, seeing as it had nothing to do with that theory, I didn’t care for the look of the red arm…and would have preferred if he’d been given a silver arm or black arm instead. Picky, I know.

Anyway, here’s a good link that ‘explained’ it all back then. I didn’t see this at the time, but I note from the comments below that someone did spot this anomaly in C3PO’s last moments. - io9.gizmodo.com/so-now-we-know-how-c-3po-got-his-red-arm-in-the-force-a-1770741572

And having now come across this particular article, it seems to give the unsatisfactory reason as to ‘why’ C3PO is back to normal at the end… - sploid.gizmodo.com/10-hidden-secrets-in-the-star-wars-the-force-awakens-1770455261

With the way that certain trailers completely give away too much these days, I would certainly agree with those who wish to give them a wide berth, if they really want to see a movie as un-‘spoiled’ as possible. Although the ones for THE FORCE AWAKENS were reasonably vague about things, I’m gonna try and do that with the next instalments of the ‘sequel’ trilogy. But I’m actually not too bothered about keeping away from all the future ‘standalone’ movie news, however.

So with that in mind, I’ve just stuck a ‘leaked’ version of the recent unseen ‘Celebration event’ ROGUE ONE trailer over on page 24 of the ‘spoilers’ thread only. 😉

Also would you be able to edit Qui Gon into Anakin’s father to remove the virgin birth?

I’m removing th e virgin birth but no, I’m not able to do that unless there’s some material out there that would allow me to. I would have to explain that they’ve both met before and I just don’t see how that’s doable. Not to mention it kinda sounds weird 😕

…and it’s bad enough that poor Shmi was left in the clutches of Watto by Anakin all those years as he got older, without Qui-gon not having been able to use any of the Jedi’s resources to free her up for his 'son’s sake either!

(on the other hand, it might have been a bit awkward for Qui-gon to explain to Yoda and Mace why she was hanging around the temple so much, if he’d done so…) 😉

They had to kill off Han in part in case Harrison Ford died before they could film VIII. You can’t start off the crawl with, “Han Solo has died in a freak rathtar accident.”

I find your lack of faith in Harrison to live a little longer, disturbing.

Hell, I still expect him to complete another Indy movie to make up for KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL yet! (although it wasn’t his fault, I know)

Well I gotta say that the new ROGUE ONE trailer sure has some EPIC-looking shots in it - I wasn’t expecting this movie to look so good!

I love that the ‘marketplace’ outpost is located upon a huge rock plateau (as I hadn’t expected that from previous footage), and the pan up to the Stardestroyer overhead is a terrific piece of imagery. And the brief moment of the stardestroyer looming directly towards us out of the shadows of the Death Star dish was excellent too…as was the Death Star over the planet and the distant ‘eclipse’ it caused. And the shot of the TIE fighter rising up in front of ‘Jyn’ was really neat too - I wasn’t too impressed with the new ‘TIE Striker’ design, so it was great to see the good 'ol standard TIE’s being featured so prominently in this.

I wasn’t initially too keen on the slight changes to the ‘walkers’ compared to the original AT-ATs either, and would have preferred that they had either been exactly the same design, or a more radically different type of ‘walker’ design altogether. But that’s being overly picky I guess, and it seems that they are meant to be a larger cargo carrying type to the ones we originally saw - I could have done without the ‘beige’-coloured side panels, but no biggie. Still, the footage involving them looks pretty effective overall.

Visually, this movie is already shaping up to look a real treat…and this trailer made me go back and re-check the previously released ‘Behind-The-Scenes Celebration Reel’ clip with a fresh eye again - it’s first shot showing the lone stormtrooper being filmed looking out into the distance through macrobinoculars should make for a very nice moment, I reckon…and there was plenty of other stuff that I’m confident will look great onscreen after seeing the quality of the shots in this trailer.

I’m just hoping that Mads Mikkelsen isn’t wasted in a minimal role like the great Max von Sydow was in TFA…and while the trailer music has been perfectly pitched so far, it’s not as if John Williams is scoring this particular instalment. I sure hope Alexandre Deplat’s soundtrack can do the visuals justice, and make me not miss Williams too much. It’s bound to be an element which will distinguish these ‘standalone’ entries from the main saga chapters somewhat.

Anyway, it seems that there’s still a single ‘leaked’ version of the unseen ‘Celebration event’ trailer floating about on YouTube…but it’s been somewhat overdubbed with the ‘Ride Of The Valkyries’ music as heard during APOCALYPSE NOW (very apt actually). However, I did a little extra digging around and found this link to the same version which has the actual sound from the trailer. It’s low quality ‘shakey cam’, but it features a few additional shots to the latest one we’ve been given, so check it out, and enlarge it for maximum impact - https://streamable.com/rzww

(to be honest, I wish the new trailer had used the same final shot used in this ‘leaked’ trailer instead, as it’s really neat - and I’m now wondering if this is actually the shot which is going to ‘introduce’ Vader into the movie itself?) - and here’s an inverted comparison to get a better look at this particular reflection on the Death Star’s shiny floor - i.imgur.com/qgB7Ds6.jpg

The Force Awakens: Official Review Thread - ** SPOILERS **
Time

While I’ve no doubt that the additional deleted scenes offered by this 3D release will be ‘timecoded’ again, here’s the info. on what they will be this time around - www.thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-two-cents/081116_1430

I haven’t got enough time to go into all my thoughts on the movie itself, but here’s a brief summary for now - I’m really glad George sold the franchise, as it was great to see a popular ‘Star Wars’ movie back in the headlines again. There was plenty that I liked a lot, but there was also a few things I disliked too - my ‘main’ issue being that if Han had to be killed off, then I really wish it had happened in one of the subsequent follow-ups, rather than when we had just been re-introduced to him in this first ‘sequel’ trilogy instalment…

Although there’s quite a few scenes (including certain dialogue) that I hope to re-edit for myself eventually, it turned out well enough overall to have a good re-watchability factor for me…which is something I find hard to do with any of the ‘prequel’ trilogy movies these days…due to the fact that there’s just SO MANY moments that I intend to re-edit in each of them!

But overall, it was great to see the franchise continue on once again, as I never thought I’d ever see the old gang back on the big screen again…and I’m looking forward to whatever comes next.

It’s been confirmed by showrunner Brian Fuller to be set in the Prime timeline.

I don’t recall posting in this thread before, but since the recent flurry of announcements, here’s some thoughts -

I was really looking forward to this new ‘multiple crews’ show, but was sorely disappointed that the powers-that-be decided to show some very unfinished ‘test’ footage as the first preview! On top of that, the new ship that was shown just looks like a poorly-redesigned version of the better proportioned McQuarrie artwork, as far as I’m concerned. Sure, McQuarrie’s ‘nacelles’ look more like ‘rockets’ in his renderings, but I equally dislike the look of the red ‘nacelle’ lights on this version - the ‘revolving’ lights on the TOS-era ‘Enterprise’ were far more interesting-looking.

Ho hum. On the other hand, the new title sounds fine and I quite liked the music that was used.

However, if this show turns out to have too many elements in it that I dislike…then I’ll simply ‘imagine’ that it occurs in the same separate ‘alternative universe’ to the TOS show/TOS movies that I choose to stick all the other ‘Trek’ shows, ‘Generations’ movie, and J.J.'s 'Kelvin Timeline movies into… 😉

In the meantime, I see that the fan vids have started already - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xzfgu3_3XXk

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

It’s only a snippet, but adywan has just confirmed on the Revisited FB page that he’s modelling his new WAMPA on the ‘puppet’ version that attacks Luke near the start of ‘ESB’…and NOT the ‘Special Edition’ one. (Yay!)

He’s also posted up a pic of the initial head shape that he’s constructed as the basis for it, before he adds hair and horns etc.

In addition, he’s commented that there will be NO ‘Special Edition’ shots of the WAMPA left in his edit. I was hoping he’d just retain the brief SE shot where we see it’s claw/side in a foreground close-up (although it’s black inner palm would need to be re-coloured to look more ‘fleshy’ to match the original)…but it sounds like it’s gone too.

Thanks for uploading those RooBee, as I’d never caught that before. The people watching that preview compilation sure got a heap of footage shown to them at the time!

I wonder what they thought when they eventually saw (and heard) the rest of the movie?..

Maybe George would have had more success if he’d just released his prequels as ‘silent’ movies scored with ‘epic’ music throughout like this… 😉

‘The Force Awakens: Hosnian Shot Last Edition’ definately needs to be used by someone eventually.

(I also quite like ‘The Force Awakens: Han Died First Edition’ as a totally serious title idea for this kind of re-structure too, by the way!)

ok what about the shots of could city also is he updating other cg se shots?

jedimasterobiwan, rest assured that the many enhancements/fixes/adjustments/improvements/etc. that are being done throughout each of the ‘cloud city’ scenes are going to blend the existing cgi SE shots into a far better ‘update’ overall.

There’s too much to list, but I think many will find the existing SE pretty much unwatchable after seeing ESB:R.
