I'm starting work on Empire v2.0. I wanted to give Vegas another shot with this but it doesn't recognise m2ts as video and it keeps crashing on me whenever I atempt doing something more complicated in it so I'll probably stick to Power Director :-(
I'm currently removing the pulldown on Ady's reconstruction DVD.
Are there any alternate sound mixes available for TESB?
I only had an opportunity to watch it with a 2.1 set so I can't really tell you about the rear chanels and stuff but it sounded awesome to me (I'm no sound expert though).
Here's a video showing all the changes in STAR WARS PDE v2.1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ2BKnqVcyI

I used the 2.0 soundtrack from 2006 BONUS DVD (GOUT) and adjusted and trimmed Adywan's AVCHD to fit to it, so I virtually recreated the theatrical cut. Then I also replaced some of the most glaring CGI and other offending changes with the GOUT. Han, ofcourse, shoots Greedo in cold blood.
Version 2.1 improves on the first version in several aspects: It is a 23.976 AVCHD, there are no more framerate issues, the upscale of the GOUT footage is superior, there is more different soundmixes available in this version and it contains English subtitles.
Thanks again :-)
I just finished watching STAR WARS v2.1 and not only it's encoded OK but it's also awesome, there's a version of the original SW I can live with until the OOT comes out on Blu-Ray (if ever). Also the sound exeperience was great with the hairy_hen's 70mm reconstruction. I already started uploading but as usual it will take a few days.
I was just joking and yeah, that's a really good idea, that they were already causing trouble to the Empire before.
Thanks, Chewtobacca, I'm glad you liked it and I hope others will enjoy it too. I know there is a few shortcomings, I was actually trying to do the Bantha herd thing differently but then it wouldn't fit the original sound. Concerning the band scene, there is only one shot of Oola that I replaced, right at the begining. I replaced the upper one with the lower one:

As you can see, she's in virtually the same position in the room in both of those shots. All the rest of the scene is taken directly from GOUT, so if there are any inconsistencies, they were already there in the original cut.
I did make some inconsistencies in the ending celebration but I think they are not very noticable and they were a necesary sacrifice if I didn't want to put in anymore GOUT footage.
I probably won't be doing another version any time soon as I am quite satisfied with the result myself and so now I have a good version to watch and show to my friends. Maybe for the 20th anniversary I'll do a STAR WARS TRILOGY: PARTLY DESPECIALIZED EDITION: SPECIAL EDITION :-D
I think the Ewoks should be kept cute in the first part of the film, so it would come as a surprise when they turn into wild bloodthirsty savage variors later, kinda like Gremlins ;-)
I've made two crude mockups of what I'd like to see in ROTJ
I finished encoding with multiAVCHD v3.0 and it worked like a charm (I'm not 100% sure there are no artifacts like before but I skimmed through the film and didn't see any). It even went faster than v4.1, it only took just under 5hrs. I think I'm gonna watch it tonight to see if there are any problems and if there aren't I'll start uploading. I'm adding one more sound - the descriptive audio commentary for blind. And I also added English subtitles.

And mona lisa=Star wars
kid's kindergarten drawing=My mockups/ideas?
No, no, no.
Mona Lisa = Original STAR WARS
kid's kindergarten drawing = the Prequel Trilogy
I think that artistically, that is how they compare :-)
And also, there is different thread for ideas like that:
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Worst-Edit-Ideas/topic/10696/ ;-D
No, I'm just kidding, if you want to do an edit like that, do it. I don't think it'll improve the movie (I believe contrary) but I'd still watch it out of curiosity and I'm sure there will be a lot of people who will really like it :-)

Let me just say: blegh!!!

Why? :P XD
It is like taking crayons and trying to make Mona Lisa look more like your kid's kindergarten drawing...
I just instaled Vegas Pro 9.0 and it doesn't recognise m2ts files as video... :-(
Yeah, that's what I thought. I don't know, I seriously doubt it would be possible but I could try.

Frameserve?
Oh, and the artifacts were there in VLC as well. And I'm hopping to get a new external hard-drive soon, but I just plain can't afford it just now...
Thanks, I think I will actually give Vegas another shot but not until ESB v2.0 because I'm not redoing SW yet again (unless I just couldn't get the encoding to work, I'm trying multiAVCHD v3.0 now as that's what I used for Jedi. Is there some good tutorial for Vegas that you could recommend Ady (a video tutorial would be best)?
Damn!!! This time it encoded progressive but for some reason when muxed together with the sounds (which for the record are adjusted to 23.976fps) it's out of sync and what's worse it made artifacts like this all over the place:

I think I'll try making the m2ts in RipBot and then creating the AVCHD in TS muxer.
Yeah, it doesn't export uncompressed AVI in HD, mpeg2 is the only way to output 1080p, also as I mentioned before, I'm already having problems with HDD space as it is, I'm guessing an uncompressed 1080p AVI would be like 300-500GB (just a guess) instead of a 25GB mpeg2, so I couldn't use it even if Power Director could. And I really like working with PD, it is very user friendly, I tried Sony Vegas and I hated it. You'll laugh, but I even really liked Windows Movie Maker, it doesn't have all the functions I need and is REALLY crap for exporting, but the system of how it works with imported clips is just great IMO.
BTW. did you get a chance to watch Jedi yet?
OK, I changed the framerate of the Mpeg file in TS Muxer first and then started reencoding with Multi AVCHD at 23.976fps and I put the temporary *****.264 file from the multi AVCHD TEMP folder into TS Muxer right after and it recognised the track as 1920:1080p, so hopefully it will work now :-) I'm not completely convinced that that was the problem, because there was no such problem with Jedi but I'll just be happy if it works.
Crap!!! I knew it was a stupid idea to delete the file but I'm kind of strugling with disc space now with all the different high bitrate HD files so I had to delete it in order to try encoding again. There's one thing I thought might be a problem. Because Power Director (and yes, I agree it's not very good in terms of video encoding but I payed good money for it and I don't really wanna switch to a different program) only outputs NTSC at 29.97 fps I remuxed the Ady's original AVCHD to 25 fps in TS Muxer, which had the advantage of working with a PAL version in PD and being able to work with my PAL GOUT as it was. Then I ouputed a 37000 Kbps 1080p 25fps Mpeg2 which I reencoded with multi AVCHD still at 25fps and then changed the framerate to 23.976 while making an AVCHD in TS muxer with all the soundtracks. But I did it the exact same way with Jedi and it worked. Anyway, I'm gonna try changing the framerate of the Mpeg file in TS Muxer first and then reencoding with Multi AVCHD at 23.976fps.
You've done an awesome job on these Angel but I don't think there's any need of altering the sets and the colors are obviously just desaturated to the verge of black and white and that makes it look...I don'tknow... unstarwarsy. And Tarkin looks too much like a zombie. But I guess I'm just too much of a purist to appreciate such changes :-)
