RE Puggo: I can do some colour correction in After Effects and I just want to experiment with it a little. Probably both versions would be good. Just to make sure, I mean this shot:
Puggo, did you keep any of the source files for Puggo Grande? I would like to try and use it to further enhance the flyby shot that comes after the "move along" shot, so if you could maybe please upload it somewhere for me...

Well, I made these in the 1st place for myself (to have a version I'd like to watch and show to my friends and family) and then I figured why not share it with others as well :-)
Actually, if you can play the MKV, you won't gain anything by getting the DVD9, because you get the same audio options and thanks to the x264 codec the same or better video quality than an mpeg2 DVD9 and the MKV has full PAL resolution, while keeping the correct speed, so it is without a doubt the best way to watch this reconstruction.

I don't know, man, I mean, I quite like it, it does seem a bit more consistent with the background buildings but I think I'll just go with the original one I made and just colour correct it. I like how sharp it is, it gives it more of an HD feel for me. And you may notice that I made the ground gradually blurrier towards the back, so I may just try strengthening that effect a little.

Just to clarify, there will be no changes in the DVD9 version other then less compression artefacts due to the higher bitrate and encoding from the source files.

Sorry, but what wasn't the whole point supposed to be for the background to be less CG in that shot? Because your mock-up leaves all the obviously CG buildings in and replaces the obviously original ground. I know the SE ground looks kind of too sharp and stuff when compared to the GOUT but I think that's only because it's an HD transfer (but I did blur it a bit for my version) and when you compare them closely, you can see that the SE ground is exactly the same as in the GOUT but the GOUT is just blurred due to the shitty transfer. You can see it in the picture bellow. 1st is the GOUT, 2nd is the SE and 3rd is mine. The only thing I think it needs is a bit more red tint, which I'm gonna add when I do the colour correction.

I'm not a big fan of the Sandcrawler but whatever. To reiterate what Harmy has said before these are not theatrical reconstructions and he only wants to use HD elements. Hence the use of the new Sandcrawler shot.
Well, I'm not using exclusively HD elements but as many as possible without leaving obvious CG in, so I will be using the GOUT (or hopefully DJ's V3) for like some of the Yavin battle.
Harmy, whats going on with that Dewback in the background? I can't quite remember the SE shot but was that one slightly animated for the SE (as once it was completely stationary) or was that the Dewback you removed that I'm remembering?
Oh, yeah, for the SE, the original Dewback in the background was removed and instead two obviously CG ones were added. I tried rontoscoping in the GOUT one but the difference in quality was too big, so I reconstructed the original one in HD using a production photo and I had to track the motion of the camera frame by frame. And also, about two seconds of that shot were cut off at the beginning of it, so I had to deal with that too by several times repeating the few frames before the stormtrooper moves.
Sorry for the delay on the PAL DVD9 guys; I had exams until now, so in the little free time I had, I preferred to work on something (1,2) I'd actually enjoy doing. But I'm working on the DVD now and I hope to have it finished soon.

Yeah, I'm aware of this and just like in the previous PDE versions, I'm simply gonna cut of the end to make it the same length as the original.
Thanks, but I can't really use any of those, they're mostly SE or weren't changed in the SE. I already tried contacting Ady but he's really bussy now, so I doubt he will be able to help me. I might try Jambe Davdar though, good tip, thanks :-)
It seems like my request for HD matte paintings might have been forgoten, so I ask again, does anyone have those?
And I don't want to be exposing them to the SEs either. One of the reasons I made my partly despecialized edition was to have a version I would want to show to my wee brothers (and one that I wouldn't feel uncomfortable showing to my friends).
