Well, a video which would be the length of the whole scene would make it a bit easier, as I'd only have to time the first one but the pictures would be easier to upload and download, so it's up to you. Thank you very much for doing this for me :-)

Maybe you could post your list in parts, so that I can start working on it while you're finishing the rest? I'm almost done with the flashes and don't feel like going to sleep yet ;-)

Well, bolts I'd have to rotoscope, for the flashes I can just colour correct the whole frame.

No, not bolts, only the flashes when the bolts hit something. I may be crazy, but not that crazy ;-)

Making them less pink/purple and more red. It means I have to go through every blaster fight in the movie literally frame by frame, cut out the flashes and colour correct them separately.  

I'm still working on the flashes. It's tedious work but as I already started, I'm not gonna give up now.

Anyway, I'll wait until tomorrow evening for any further suggestions, and if I'll have finished the flashes by then, I'm gonna render a final workprint, review it and I'll start rendering the final output on Saturday.

I think it was a 16mm o-neg and that's a whole another beast ;-)

Well, yeah, I noticed that only now with this comparison. What is interesting though is that most of the time Ady's sabres are almost exactly the same colours as mine, even though mine aren't always quite right.

There would likely be a huge difference between a well stored 16mm o-neg and a rundown print from a flee market. And even if they found a pristine 16mm print, you loose resolution with every copy you make (and I'm sure this effect is magnified by using smaller film) and a print would be at least 4th generation (maybe more for a print for home use).

And how did you figure out the Jabba scene comes from a 16mm copy? I've read they couldn't find the original camera negatives of it but not that the source they used was 16mm and frankly I doubt they could get the quality they did from a 16mm downscale, it was probably some 35mm copy.

005, it seems that the Imperial officers' hologram shot posted on the previous page is missing from your list. I think the overlay pic that I posted clearly proves, that  it is a recomposite.

Well, the question is if scanning an old used 16mm print would yield better picture quality than 1993 LD masters. Compare Puggo Grande and GOUT - PG is great for what it is but GOUT is objectively better PQ in most aspects.

I don't think so. Almost every home video transfer of every film is cropped to a point but it's usually just a little, I don't think the releases of STAR WARS are majorly cropped compared to the original negatives. The 04SE is the least cropped release so far but you can still see a little bit of more of the frame in the 70mm scans.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean now. The GOUT is definitely more cropped on all sides compared to the 04SE.

No it doesn't, that's the thing about it. But it doesn't necessarily mean it's CGI, they could have just used elements from other shots. The reason for this change is what baffles me.

That could work but I think the LDs are actually a different transfer than the DTV captures.

And I think DJ is using the Flunk version, which I think was said to be a straight port of the digi tapes used as a source of the TV broadcasts and that's why it is so much better than the others. And it would IMO also mean that the smearing is due to DVNR and not the way it was captured.
