LD's were not designed for display on everyday TV's, they would have offered almost no advantage over VHS if that was the case. They were for the high-end market with the very best TV's, projectors, etc.

Well, that's just not true, LD is miles away from VHS regardless of the TV you're using to display it (it does depend on the player though, I'll give you that). Of course you'll see more of a difference on a high end TV or a projector but there'll still be a big difference on any TV (at least one produced in the 80s and later). It is similar to DVD vs. BD, on a small cheap 720p LCD you will see less of a difference than on a 60" 1080p high-end plasma but that doesn't mean there won't still be a huge difference on the 720p LCD.

Well, yeah, they didn't appear insanely red, they probably appeared quite natural like they do in the corrected picture I posted (well, at least natural for someone who just spent some time shooting a film in Tunisia).

There was no magic involved, the overexposure just made the camera brighten and blue/cyan shift the whole image, which is the only thing I tweaked about it (oh, and I turned saturation down a bit).

Why would you think that's more accurate than how the technicolor presentation actually appears? Makes no sense at all.

I'm not saying that it is more accurate than how the technicolour presentation actually appears, I'm saying that it is more accurate to how the technicolour presentation actually appears when corrected for colour issues created by being taken from a screen.

Such a colour-shift is a common thing when using a camera to capture a screen, here's a picture from STAR WARS in Concert, where they used the 04 footage and underneath is the same picture from the 04SE:

And it is a picture which is probably taken by a professional photographer, because it was used as promotional material by LFL.

Well, yeah, I'm taking a little break now. I'm not not working on it but I was getting so tired of it, that I decided to work at a slower pace. This shouldn't affect the release date too badly, it should still be finished in a week or two.

And those technicolour pictures can't be taken as a perfect reference, they are just pictures taken by a digital camera from a cinema screen after all and they're definitely too bright and also quite blue-shifted (look at Obi's hair and Luke's shoulder) and slightly green-shifted (Luke's hair):

Once you correct those issues, you get something like this:

(I admit I may have gone a step too far but you see my point.)

EDIT: Here's this frame from my latest workprint:
