Yeah, I knew about that one but thanks for reminding me, I totally forgot about it.
Oh, I'm so sorry, I was writing a long post which included a link to this in the preserving the german.. thread and my computer froze and I was too lazy to retype the whole thing and completely forgot about it. Here it is:

Those are amazing!!!!!
Thanks :-)
A stormtrooper feels off for a movie as deep and character-focused as Jedi.
This is a joke, right?

Did you not read the tweet above where he said:
"I tried it once and I learned to regret it" - Spielberg on changing ET
Isn't it his right to NOT include a SE?
Of course he is. But then again, so is Lucas in his right to not include the original. Personally, I would like to see both versions released.
A director withholding a previously released SE and a director withholding a theatrical version is not comparable.
I don't know. Is it a question or ORIGINAL INTENT or is it a question of film history? The ET SE is still a piece (arguably a notable piece) of film history.
This.
Shit!!! That's exactly the kind of glitch I was hoping to be discovered in the WP. It is really small though.
Welcome to the forum :-)
Covers made for the Despecialized set by me can be found here:

YES!!! That's the one!!! I remember that unfolding ESB duel picture! Thank you! Now to find higher def pics!
That makes me sad. And what makes me even more sad is that my uncle can't find it, as it seems pretty rare :-( I can't find any pictures of it on the internet.
I found this:
I believe it's either the one one the left or the one on the right (not the middle one) - if you notice they're just about wide enough to be housing 4 VHS.
But that's the widescreen box set with the executor style covers. This was a 4 VHS box set with plastic covers for the VHS and the Classic Creatures doc on a separate VHS.
I have the cassetes, I want to see the beautiful trilogy box they came in :-(
I like the original better too but I think that once the SE is done, it should be released as well (and there were HD broadcasts of the SE, so they do have an HD master for it already, so no additional cost would be involved). The general opinion may be that people don't care for the SE, but I'm sure you could find someone who likes the SE and would like to have the option of seeing it in HD.
But it's definitely still more logical to release the original only than the SE only.
Hey guys. Does any of you have the German 1995 full screen VHS set? If so could you please post photos of it? My uncle used to have it and I last saw it as a kid and I loved the box-set art but when I asked him if he still had it, he couldn't find it. I'd really like to see it again to confirm whether it's really as awesome as I remember it or it's just a false memory.
Thanks :-)
That is awesome. Are they anywhere to be downloaded? I have all the G'Kar DVDs, so it would be awesome to have these covers for them.
EDIT: Sorry, I see there are links on the pics already :-)
Thanks for this.
Hello, Cuchulainn, I'd like to welcome you and all the other newcomers (love the signature pics, Promus) to OT.com. I believe you'll enjoy this place! :-)
Would that have been a bad thing?
That thing about there being no need for LFL to release the originals because there are preservations here is BS. Mine are not true original cuts, because it is just impossible to remove every change that's been done and keep the cut in reasonable quality, not to mention that I still use the overly filtered, black crushed 2004 release. And dark_jedi's, no matter how amazingly he was able to improve them, will always be sourced from a motion smeared mpeg2 encode of a 1993 LD master. So there is still need for a proper release - the fan restorations are just a temporary replacement and we should still campaign for a proper release for the sake of film history preservation.
And the other argument, that George has no reason to release the OOT, because there are fan preservation is also totally wrong. In fact, it was the fan made bootlegs that prompted George to release the GOUT in the first place - at the time the fan-made bootlegs were all decent LD transfers, so what he gave us in an official release was exactly that, only that one bit better, so it'd be worth buying to those who already have the bootlegs - minimal cost, maximum profit.
Now there are HD quality bootlegs, maybe it will make him release the OOT in HD quality, again just that one bit better. Not out of realization of how important it is to preserve film history but simply out of greed.
I am afraid though that I can't trust LFL to get it right any more - I hope that if a proper release is ever to be made, they'd consider having someone like Mr Harris do the restoration. Otherwise, if done in-house by LFL, we might live to see the originals released DVNRed to hell with atrocious colour timing.
How about asking someone with a PC to do it for you?
I happen to have seen the Close Encounters Blu-Ray and there is just no way this blows it away.
This one is great, actually, as it will show all the changes made to the Blu-Rays, which we may not notice otherwise (perfect for the kind of project I'm doing).
Is it just the picture or are they a bit too dark?
That looks great, only it seems to me that the whites are a little overblown and the gate-weave is quite big, maybe it would be good to run the final result through some process similar to GForce's script?
So are you going to tell us more about you process? I'm really interested!
Yeah, I used my school e-mail, so that worked but I've been waiting for hours to get the right to post.
