Aren't you, like, in school or something?  Don't you sleep?  What gives?  How is this possible?

Ha ha, I actually study English and am doing an extra year because I was missing a few credits, so I have like four subjects, half of which I don't have to go to. My main school thing I have to do is writing my bachelor thesis, which I'm doing about STAR WARS :-)

@005:

Because I don't see much of a reason for redoing that one, I'm actually very happy with it:

Well, I don't know, I just think that the new one blends better. And sharpening the GOUT brought out a lot of nasty video artefacts. And I don't see any loss of detail in the cockpit interior at all. Actually, I don't see any detail being lost in any of the dark areas.

Anyway, here you go, taken straight from the comparison picture you posted:

TOP: v2.0 (Falcon sourced from 35mm)

Bottom: v1.0 (Falcon sourced from GOUT - adjusted by Jatea)

I still think the new one looks better - there is some SD applied edge enhancement on the GOUT Falcon, which when upscaled to HD makes it look blurry and old video-like - it's like all the lines are thicker and more visible than on the 35mm scan but also blurrier. Look at the cockpit struts for example - they are solid but they have like a blurry outline - and all lines in the GOUT version have that, only it's most visible on the cockpit because of the dark background.

Also, in v1.0 there's the whole hanger door and the top and bottom edges left from the SE, which is fixed in v2.0.

See, I told you guys it looked better in movement and context :-)

Oh, and you may have noticed that I'm calling it a v2.0 now. I wanted to call it v1.2 because I thought I'd just fix a few glitches that people reported but it turned into so much more that it definitely warrants the 2.0 tag. Just take the fact that we're even having these debates here :-)

OK, I've got some bad news. I got the scans of the Falcon matte (from a 35mm print) I've been waiting for. Unfortunately, they are very blurry and aren't really an improvement over the GOUT (they are possibly even worse). I'm not sure whether this is due to the print (which is very faded) or due to the way they were scanned (more likely) but there it is.

It's not our last hope though. There might be another. ;-)

But it would still take some time before I can get that. But in the mean-time, I can finish the last few shots and start editing.
