Collaborative Fanediting: An ROTJ Proposition (BACK ON TRACK WITH EMANSWFAN AT THE HELM--SEE POST 1488 OR OP FOR A LINK!)

Hey guys, I didn't read all 29 pages, so I'm not very well informed about this idea but I just wanted to say that if you wanted some of my despecializations (like the restored original Sarlacc, which I believe to be much more effective and threatening than the 97 CGI beak) you're welcome to use them :-)

I see what you mean, I wouldn't say it's pixelated, it seems to be a similar issue to what I get when upping the saturation, this time it was caused by improper use of the "change colour" effect. Thank you for noticing, I'll definitely fix it.

Mike, would you please take a look at my new clip and tell me if the saber colour is at least close to the way it looks on the IB prints?

3D STAR WARS for the masses...has ARRIVED!

48 fps should present no problem for the current TVs and most BD players, the only problem I can see this presenting for current HD equipment is that double framerate means twice more data, so you need to double the bitrate to keep it the same quality.

What I'm concerned about (and correct me if I'm wrong) is that for playback on devices (including cinema projectors) not capable of playing back 48fps, it would have to be converted to normal 24fps by either dropping half the frames or interpolating every two frames into one, first of which would probably result in choppy movement and the second would create the ghosting inherent having two different frames overlayed.

Yeah, but there's a reason that whenever the jaggies are brought up, this shot of R2 is shown, because it has the worst jaggies, so while your current script eliminates the jaggies in most shots, some still remain in this shot and probably a handful others, so what I was asking was, would it be possible to only apply the stronger setting to those shots only? I'm not saying you should do that either, just asking if it would be possible to do.

First of all, wow, it's hard to believe these are sourced from the GOUT. Second, is it possible to apply the settings selectively? Like apply the stronger jaggies reduction only to the shots where they are notoriously bad? While there is definitely some detail loss and it would definitely be undesirable to apply this to the whole film, it's not as bad as I thought it would and those jagged shots of R2 would probably benefit from it.

Thanks guys :-)

Here's another one for you:

This is as far as I'm willing to go. I had to go back to the shot's project file and rerender anyway, because there was some funky stuff going on with 3PO's head when the target first passes over it, so I figured what the hell and added a bit of saturation to the sabre.

That looks too warm to me. If you look at the pics Harmy posted of Luke first meeting Obi Wan you can see how, before alteration, they were likewise far too warm. It made skin tones look odd and unusually red and you can see the enormous differences in the appearance of ObiWan's robe between the shots because the imagery was previously too warm.

Sorry but that's wrong, the colours are much warmer now then they were in the WP2, including the skintones, the difference is that the skintones are brighter, not less warm, the same goes for the robes.

And come on, make the transition less 'grating'? Those two shots are like a minute from each other, it's not like they immediately follow one another.

Yes, thanks for that, I'm glad you confirmed it for me, all the tiles in the left one are a shade of blue, without any green at all. The only one where I see any hint of green is the bottom right one.

No one said the right one was more green, it's simply darker blue than the left one, which is lighter blue.
