Blu-Ray and other HD box size STAR WARS covers
Time

Wow, I love it! Seriously. If you allow me, I might just make this the official v2.0 artwork! Though my personal preference would be to use the slipcase for 4 individual boxes with their own covers in this style. Would you please be willing to share your psd files for me to make the individual covers? I'd give you full credit of course.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Well, the thing is that the MKV will be released first (or possibly 2nd, right after the AVCHD DVD9). And the BD might come out later (and I mean weeks later) so for those who want to burn to BD it may be a good idea to DL the MKV and play it it from a USB or the AVCHD and burn to DVD and wait for the BD release (or possibly the decision not to release it - don't forget I'm still not 100% sure on that) to burn to a Blu-Ray disc.

@Cobra Kai: The brightening of the skintones was done on purpose but I'll have to go through it and apply it more selectively.

Are you brightening even more than was in the WP? I thought the skin-tones looked great in that scene initially. I'm just worried that it will get too bright, and the skin-tones will look unnatural as they do now.

Well, yeah. I'm not quite sure this aspect is correct in the GOUT either. I'm hoping to soon get some reliable references for every sequence, so I'm gonna go through the colours from the beginning and adjust them again. Nothing's final.

@Troy: Yeah, I'm not sure what colour the display is supposed to be, whether it was enhanced by Ady or it's an SE mistake.
The screen behind the trooper getting shot? It's Revisitedly enhanced, so the colors are new.

That's good to hear, I was afraid I was gonna have to fix it, this way it just adds another advantage to having redone it.

Well, my new BD player plays MKVs and it plays them from DVD without problems. The thing is that the MKV will be around 15GB, so it won't fit on a DVD but I can also connect an external USB HDD to y BD player and it plays MKVs from that too.

Alternatively, you could split the movie over two DVD9s. In MKV Merge, you can "link" the files, so when they're in the same folder, they simply play as one file, so if you wanted to play it from an HDD or burn to a BD you should have an uninterupted viewing and if you, like me, don't mind switching discs midway, you can burn it to two DVDs.

@Tobar: Yes, to Frederik you listen! :-) I've seen a very reliable reference of that shot and the lightsabre was almost exactly this colour and so were the lights in the background!

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Well, actually 2K is 2048x1152 but that's a difference hardly worth getting excited about and it is doubtful that it will be the next home format, since the difference would be practically unnoticeable, so there would be no good reason to make a whole new format for it.

I just read somewhere that there are currently some 4K TVs being introduced to the market and 4K capable Blu-Ray players should be introduced soon. When that becomes standard, the prequels are screwed and in the current state of things, so are the OT SEs (and so is Avatar for that matter).

..since these BD's are essentially the dvd masters.

Now that's simply not true, is it. The masters used on the blu-rays are not SD masters, and even if HD masters had been used for the DVD release previously, the results are noticeably better on blu-ray.

The resolution is better, everything else is pretty much the same, because they come from the same master, so it's simply perfectly true.

3D STAR WARS for the masses...has ARRIVED!

...and if this continues, I'll never have the opportunity to see Ran or Lawrence of Arabia on the big screen, a longtime dream of mine...

Why not? Lawrence has been digitally restored to at least 4K by Richard Harris, so a digital projection looking like a newly struck interpositive should be totally possible and the same goes for most important catalogue films, except for STAR WARS of course.
