Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

The official AVCHD is still a few days away. Guys, I have my FINAL exams tomorrow, if I fail, I'm totally screwed, so I don't have time to f*ck about with this right now, so you'll just have to wait a bit.

As to that bright scene... FUCK IT!!! I already said it looked like this in my reference IB Print scans. Period. I really wish I could post some of them but I promised not to and I'm a man of my word.

Calibrating you monitor to make the scene look like you think it should will TOTALLY fuck up all the rest of the colours in other scenes!!!

You can mux the subtitles in the same way you muxed in the new audio and then choose between them in the file. The reason I didn't do this is that many standalone players (including mine) don't support muxed in subtitles with mkv and some only support a limited number of muxed in subtitles (usually much more limited than the number of subs offered here) but vast majority, if not all, of the players capable of playing mkv are able to display subs if they're named the same as the videofile. It also saved me a lot of work, having to tag all the subs for the language they are in mkv merge.

hmmm....correct me if im wrong, but it sounds like the blu ray version of 2.0 will be the MKV file with additional audio tracks and a menu?  if thats the case, i may be in trouble cuz I have a panasonic dmp bd60 and it doesnt play MKV.  I've been able to enjoy 1.0 because it was AVCHD but this time I wanted to take advantage of the full bit-rates.

maybe an excuse to get a new player ;P

in any event, I still feel great for fans that can enjoy this.

Harmy, it sounds like you really hit this one out of the park.

Fans everywhere are gonna raise a glass of blue milk to you.

I'll probably check in again in a couple months once the blu ray is released to get a better idea of where things are at.  In the meantime, congratulations on a job well done.  Congrats too on your thesis.  Best of luck again on your exams - im sure you'll do just fine.  You have an attitude and dedication to success thats rare.

hmmm...you're wrong ;-) The BD will be much more than just that. It will have menu, extras and everything that a proper BD release should have. And it will be a BD25 ISO.

@budwhite: read the first post.

The official AVCHD version should be available in about a week. This version will be encoded from the lossless source used to make the MKV, using a meticulously crafted script fitted directly to the needs of this particular film and will produce quality that simply cannot be matched by some one click automated software (if you don't believe me look at the video quality - not colour and such but detail and compression- difference between v1.0 and v2.0: 90% of that difference is due to a better encoding process; The better source is only like 10% of what makes the quality better).

The situation is very similar with Chewtobacca's DVD5 - no automated one-click software can hope to match it in quality.

Please consider this before doing your own re-encodes.

Posting from phone agn. He is right it will be months before esb and rotj v2.0 are released.aikj Argh! I cant delete anything, so when I make a typo, I can't do anything about it. Anyway, forgot to mention that the correct in sync audio files for German and Spanish are linked at teh and you can remux them with mkv merge. Please keep in mind that if you're seeding a torrent, this will make it(seeding _can someone plese explain this more clearly, this phone thing is killing me) impossible, so please give the torrents some love before remuxing the fixed audio or keep the original copy seeding for a while after.

For those wanting to make a BD, here's a perfect guide on how to do that:

http://www.bitburners.com/articles/convert-mkv-files-to-blu-ray-or-avchd-for-playstation-3-using-tsmuxer/4019/

I checked and the MKV open is TS muxer without trouble. Oh and if you want to include subtitles, they have to be in SUP format for BD.

Also link to fixed German audio is now up on teh, Spanish to follow soon.

@7FN: If they are the original files, you need to set a delay of 1017ms.

take a nice break, and get ready for 3.0 when ours comes out!

haha just kidding? (maybe?)

Well, that's actually the plan. I tried and I will be able to apply the colours from this to the BD at 1080p with a fraction of the work it took to do the colour correction on this, so a 1080p completely despecialized edition (definitely just a preliminary working title) using your release is definitely in the cards in a year or so :-)

@Rox: If you want to do it that way, first split both with the same settings - in "Global" check split, after this duration: 00:01:00 and set max. number of files to 2. That way, if MKV Merge can get through the corrupted part ok, you get one minute of the beginning from the uncorrupted file and the rest of the movie minus the first corrupted minute from the corrupted file. Then you take those two and append them.

Yeah, no frickin' way. I totally gave up on YouTube (some of you may have noticed I deleted all my SW videos).

What I was however planning to do was make a little documentary for the BD, explaining what the DeEd is and maybe upload that to YouTube when it's done. It would explain the most important parts of the OOT issue and how the general public is being deceived and misled into either not even knowing there was any earlier version of it or at least thinking the original versions had cardboard cut out spaceships and stuff and how the DeEd can be used to educate people about this issue ;-) Covering my ass a little there but at the same time I believe that it is true.
