Man, I'd love to meet Simon Pegg. I love that guy!

Yeah, he updated the old articles a few months back but it's seriously incomplete. Back in the day, it used to be the best OOT-SE comparison out there though.
Yeah, like five years ago ;-)
Oh - My - God!

The original links work, I think. I replaced the ones on this page, but I don't like the G+ interface for viewing it.
Well, it didn't work for me but I don't know maybe there's something wrong on my side.
The more common one. The same as on the GOUT.
BTW. 005, you may wanna redo the links in the first post, because since picasa is now G+, the links no longer work.
The links now are SW:

Sorry, to disappoint you but the IB Print, which is definitely from '77 has the cloudless version.
Wow, very cool.
Aren't you guys a bit off topic? You're just repeating what has been said on this site a hundred times and you're repeating it in a way that makes other people think we're a bunch of whining fanboys. Urgh, I have to stop reading this thread, I get pissed of every time.
Anyway, guiser, yes, that is right, the FLAC version is fine. The stereo and mono versions are probably fine too but there's a small chance they may not be, so as long as people are remuxing the 5.1, they may as well remux those too, just to be sure.
There was never any other version of this, so this is the version you must have seen before. The eyebrows are a little wonky and will be addressed in v2.0.
And ESB and ROTJ can definitely use a v2.0 improvement of A) picture quality (same kind of improvement v2.0 of Star Wars got) and B) Theatrical accuracy. Because this time around I will not stop until some of the shots I was unable to despecialize in v1.0 are despecialized. Like the Rancor compositing in ROTJ or the snow battle compositing in ESB.
Oh, I'm sorry, I completely forgot before. Here are the checksums for the AVCHD iso file:
MD5: D4EF3E6E7B10147D9BE9D34902EB70E6
SHA1: F360675BCF9B5DEA9E2840B5BB2541917065B2C6
I have it on good authority that Lucasfilm legal is definitely keeping an eye on this place and they don't consider our efforts enough of a threat to their marketing to do anything about it.

Yeah I think the biggest problem with Harmy's
post is that he seemed to think that this
style demands rhyme or meter which it fairly
explicitly doesn't if you read -1's posts
Yeah, I thought I'd just take it to another level and made it into a Shakespearean sonnet form :-) Did I mention I have a degree in English literature ;-)
Wow, talk about revision of history. That's sickening. Now George has truly and fully become the studio head he used to hate so much. With the SEs, it was already borderline but those were still his movie in some sense. But now, he just took a piece of work done entirely by someone else and made it unavailable and is actively trying to erase it from history.
No problem :-) I noticed this when I was editing and I had the HD video scaled down in a small window. Too bad it still doesn't satisfactorily explain the vertical vs. horizontal issue.
That's fairly simple. Check this out:

Yeah, sorry, the CAPS was a bit over the top. I wasn't really that mad, I just wanted to make the post extra visible. But it does have the effect of making it seem like you're shouting at the top of your lungs, doesn't it?
As long as you keep using the ENTER key correctly, I have no complaints.
Yeah, the poetry style of posting
Is annoying as hell to read.
I too do wish he stopped it,
It's causing my eyes to bleed.
Why anyone would post like that
I'm trying to understand.
It's making me a little mad,
But what would you recommend?
When what he says in his lore
May be crucial information,
I can't put him on ignore.
So after much contemplation,
I opted for serenity
And tolerate his oddity.
It's six hours from where I live. I'll think about it :-)
Thanks. And thank all you guys who offer these kind words. I enjoy working on these edits but it makes it ten times more worthwhile that so many other people enjoy them too.
The additional detail (as in resolution, not in the shadows and such) is not because of the BD, it's because of better compression and using lossless throughout the whole editing process. Even shots sourced from HDTV (and there's still quite a few) look a lot better in remastered.
Check out this shot (which comes from the same HDTV transfer used for v1.0):
If you click left, you'll see the v1.0 version.
The question shouldn't be if the main release is gonna be cropped but how much? I think, if you wanted a fixed cropping and didn't want to adjust for each shot, TServo's suggestion is right - basically, crop just enough so that the black boarder and the rounded corners are never seen.
I think a fun alternate version would be one that would be totally uncropped, like those frames in TServos post - including the soundtrack and all the boarders.
No, just AVCHD and BD. You can create an MKV from either one in five minutes.

I repeatedly asked people not to post things like this in the thread, exactly because most people won't notice them unless they know about them and once they do know, they'll notice and won't ever be able to unnotice. And the experience will be ruined a little bit for them.
This still applies, even though I'm doing another version, because there are limits to what I can do with certain things.
It's a bit of a paradox how Puggo managed to misplace some of his backup discs of this even though he was so careful.
