Though, that being said, the bad acting didn't help matters much. Admittedly, much or most of the blame for those poor performances should be shouldered by George Lucas, especially in the case of Jake Lloyd.

I'm not saying Hayden is a great actor but I dare you to read this aloud trying to make it sound like you actually mean it and keep a straight face, let alone give a good performance:

"The thought of not being with you...I can't breathe! I'm haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me. My heart is beating, hoping that that kiss will not become a scar. You are in my very soul, tormenting me. What can I do? I will do anything that you ask. If you are suffering as much as I am, please tell me."

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

The problem is that the other HD version is crap as well only in other respects (it's the same master as the 2001 DVD, only not downscaled), so it's hardly a good comparison. I saw somewhere on this forum some really nice HD screenshots from TPM, which seemed to be from a completely different source (or possibly the same source as the BD only prior to all the additional meddling) and those looked beautiful.

Well, in a way you're right but then those burn marks are really ugly, in-your-face kind of thing, so if they weren't on the o-neg, it's enough of a justification for me to leave them out. The other similar things I did reinstate were mostly either in camera (like overexposure and stuff) or compositing mistakes (like that shot of Luke in x-wing) and were an inherent part of the VFX. Those burnmarks seem to be due to someone not being very careful with one of the IPs.

Different skins
Time

So, I was wondering, how difficult might it be to make a simple alternate skin with the texture on the sides replaced by one color (it causes this horrible flicker on some monitors) and black text on white background? I have an eye condition that makes it pretty painful to read bright text on dark background for longer periods of time, so this forum is seriously killing me sometimes.

I agree, I think that having Lucas involved in not just the basic story but the aesthetic is important for consistency.

I don't know - the prequels are visually completely inconsistent with the OT, so if they got some artists who really like the OT and are inspired by it to do the designs, it could could be pretty consistent without George Lucas' involvement.

Ady did a color corrected version of TPM HDTV and afaik, the colours of the BD transfer of TPM are fine (it's DVNRed to hell of course but that is another matter). For AOTC, there are plenty of HDTV captures still floating around with the unf*cked colours and ROTS looks great on BD. So, no, I will not be doing anything with the prequels, except maybe a despecialized edition of TPM.

Save Star Wars Dot Com

Well, the worst thing about that is that unlike most of the misguided and misspelled posts of SE supporters his arguments must seem perfectly reasonable and solid to anyone without deeper knowledge of the issue or interest in art preservation. They could of course be disproved much in the same way he tries to disprove Michael's but it wouldn't be quite as easy as saying "see, the colars weren't fixxed."

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

What worked for me when I was making the crawl for DeEd, was to render the whole thing as image sequence at much higher resolution (4K) and then resize down in several steps in photoshop.

Actually, I got the advice to render at higher resolution from Ady way back when, when I was still a total noob.
