Poked around in the forums but since there's so many pages stuff is kind of buried.
What is going to be different between Star Wars 2.0 and 2.1 and does Star Wars 2.1 have priority of Empire Strikes Back 2.0 right now?
Well, actually, the new version of SW will be quite different. I think I'll end up calling it v2.5 or something, as it won't be done from scratch like v2.0 was but it will have enough new/different stuff to be quite a different beast altogether.
OK, just re-watched Star Trek 09 on BD after two years or so and it was f*cking awesome, including the lens flares, which work for me and I don't have any problem with them. Best Star Wars film since ROTJ or maybe even ESB. I am confident that if the script is at least decent, (and with Arndt writting it should be) Abrams will be able to deliver a great Star Wars film.
School's pretty tough now but it should get better soon and I should soon be able to start finishing v2.1 :-)
A 2TB HDD is much cheaper than making a film-print, so in terms of economy, digital wins. But I've seen both beautiful and really bad film projection and beautiful and really bad digital projection - I went to see a French film in a cinema on Leicester Square in London last year and it was the tiniest screen with worse digital projection quality than a 720p data projector a friend of mine used to have - truly horrible but then I also saw some films in digital on huge screens, where I wouldn't have been able to tell it wasn't a perfectly pristine early generation film print (if it wasn't for the obviously digital Czech subtitles) and those were only 2K, so I imagine a high quality 4K projection could be amazing.
My guess for lossless 4K would be around 1-2TB (or less depending on the method of compression and color depth), which is not all that huge in today's terms. And yes, AFAIK they are delivered on special ecrypted HDDs.
^This.
And thanks for the confidence Puggo :-)
Well, it is technically illegal to download copyrighted material from the internet no matter that you already bought it in some other form - owning the source makes it more morally ok, than legally and that is why it's a part of the forum rules.
Cool, I'll do that, thank you :-)
I must say, I never noticed the lens flares until they were pointed out to me after I've already seen the film a few times.
Yes, I do plan to do pop-ups and such but I'm not yet quite sure if I'll be able to.
Yes, v2.0 is planned for both esb and rotj, hopefully not v2.1.
Cool :-)
Yes. I'm hoping for a release next month - only reel 6 left to do and I don't recall there being much I wanted to fix - I just don't have the time to work on it just now.
Invite sent. (I found out that I too have 10 invites and it seems to me that everyone does) so I changed that clause in the first post sing Walkindork doesn't seem to frequent these part anymore, or at least not very often.
Thank you :-) I'm happy you enjoy it.
Awesome. The 2009 Star Trek had more Star Wars in it than any of the SW prequels. This could be good after all.
I'm sure there will be people who'll be interested in the result, including me :-)
I'm pretty sure that as long as you give them credit, they wouldn't object :-)
Now, that's a healthy view IMO.
LOL, no I was against that guy from the start and he's out now anyway.
@INv8r_ZIM: I only know about two shots where it's really bad but I'm sure there are others.
@pittrek: Zeman.
Wow, Ady, those are just beautiful!
I was just wondering, there are these weird red and green color maps in some areas of this picture (mainly visible on Han's chair and hair) now I sometimes get these too when doing color correction. I was wondering if you perhaps had any ideas on what they are and how to maybe get rid of them.
Also, so far I did most CC in Premiere but AE has some better tools, so I'd like to use that for CC on ESB, so I was wondering if you maybe had some tips on how to keep the project manageable (whenever you make a cut in AE, you get a new layer, so when doing shot by shot CC it always gets really confusing for me).
Thank you
I'm really looking forward to seeing ESB:R :-)
I'm currently working on v2.1 of SW and I'll start on ESB as sson as it's done bt that may be a month or two, since it's exams now and I'm also taking quite an active part in the presidential campaign for the upcoming election here.
Yeah, in the 2004 version, the flashes are completely ruined.
