To cross threads, how can I possibly explain how weird it is for Handman to assume the two places people wear baseball hats is at a baseball game and in their own house?

In the context of the 1960s. You mean to tell me if a grown man were to walk around with a baseball cap on his head in the 1960s, people would be able to take him seriously?

Yes, because I’m pretty sure people wore casual clothing occasionally, even in the 1960s.

Yeah, but were baseball caps considered casual clothing or just silly? I think the latter.

Yeah, the 1960s weren’t as formal as people seem to think, especially not the second half.

The Boomers are a whole different issue.

Here’s 1960s casual:

Adults just didn’t wear baseball caps then. At least not to the extent they do now, where the fking President is wearing them.

I guess, but really, the first book came out right before the first movie and the last book came out around the time the fifth movie did.

The first book came out four years before the first movie. That’s the same gap between the last book and last film. Both series lasted exactly ten years.

Time seems longer when you’re younger. Didn’t even realize.

This thread is ridiculous today.

Says the happily married man.

I’m neither happily nor married, yet still agree.

That the thread is ridiculous? How so?

Don’t make me sigh.

I don’t know. Everybody else not explaining their position and expecting me to just know what you mean is kind of ridiculous, though.

But people wore baseball caps all the time in the 1960s.

Not outside the home or a baseball stadium, not really.

I get the baseball stadium, but the home? People went around their house wearing baseball caps, and took them off when they went out? Where do you get your information from?

Top men. Top. Men.

I just figured if anyone were to wear a baseball cap outside a baseball stadium, it’d be at home, where you’re less likely to look presentable. I wear PJs at home, but I change when I go out.

I just can’t even.

???

It was an off-handed comment, I didn’t expect analysis.

I guess so. I don’t really enjoy being around people for too long. If I’m around the same person for more than an hour or two a week, even if I like them, I get very frustrated and annoyed with them and have to extricate myself from the interaction.

Me too. I suppose I’ve never found anyone I’ve ever actually “clicked” with.

I guess a non-failed relationship is just emptiness. Or think of all the marriage jokes you’ve ever heard.

I don’t know if it’s emptiness. I don’t see the appeal of marriage at all though.

I suppose I’m curious why you think a non-failed relationship is a waste. Do you just not want to be around the same person for too long?

I’ve watched a ton of old crap. I guess Harry Potter is the closest, but that series ended seven years ago, and the one that’s quoted came out nearly 20 years ago.

That’s a remarkably long time for a story with set book count and ending.

I guess, but really, the first book came out right before the first movie and the last book came out around the time the fifth movie did.

If the production didn’t stall after the second movie with the passing of Richard Harris and they didn’t want to artificially prolong the ending of the series by splitting the last book into two parts, I bet the gap would have been closer.

Also, I don’t see the appeal of dating in the traditional sense anymore. No one wants anything to do with me. Probably because they think I’m boring.

I was surprised to see TFA airing on TNT this evening. I would think they would have promoted the heck out of it. I’m old enough to recall when it took a feature film three years to reach network tv.

Post date: 2018
TFA release: 2015

Again, I’m old and remember a time when big ass movies took three years minimum to reach “free” tv. It’s been two years three months since TFA came out.

No problem, I didn’t forget your advanced age 😛

I don’t think movies resonate as much as they did anyway. People forget about most new releases the week after they come out. I can’t recall the last new release that really affected the culture as a whole, like a famous quote or anything.
