Most Disappointing / Satisfying Aspect of the Sequel Trilogy?
Time

I suppose the most disappointing thing about it is that I’m still not convinced this story needed to be told.

I feel like you could say the same thing about Empire Strikes Back too. In my opinion, the only time that a story being unnecessary is frustrating is if it isn’t compelling or isn’t handled well, like the prequels. A lot of people said that the prequels didn’t work primarily because the story didn’t need to be told, but any story can be interesting so I don’t really think that it should affect someone’s opinion too much.

Exactly, I don’t find the sequel trilogy’s story to be all that compelling. And that goes along with what’s already been said: A return to square one (kind of), underutilized (Phasma, Snoke, Poe, Finn) or misused (Hux, Holdo, Finn) characters (even if they’re good characters), and just not being all that interesting, honestly.

I’ll give you credit for trying to explain even though I disagree with you on so many things. With that said…

RotS is fifth because I never had to accept the PT like most of you here, and because of that I feel like I’m more open to appreciating them.

I have zero idea what this means.

It means you’re old and he grew up with the PT.

how about…

  1. Star Wars
  2. The Empire Strikes Back
  3. Return of the Jedi
  4. Rogue One
  5. Revenge of the Sith
  6. The Last Jedi/Attack of the Clones
  7. The Force Awakens
  8. The Phantom Menace

That’s a new one, for sure.

I’m not sure if my ranking has changed since the last time I posted, but:

  1. Star Wars
  2. Empire
  3. Jedi
  4. TFA
  5. TLJ
… And then a huge dip in quality/enjoyment.
  6. Phantom Menace/Rogue One
  7. Attack of the Clones/Revenge of the Sith

Hey, Groucho Marx is timeless.

Tell that to almost all the kids.

Most haven’t even heard of him.

Why do you have to do that? 😦

Sorry you don’t like a big bucket of truth thrown in your face, but I gotta be me.

I guess that’s why I’m on a forum with a bunch of 40 or 50 somethings.

A minor continuity error I noticed is when Poe is speaking with Holdo for the first time. She says “It’s commander right? Wasn’t it Leia’s last official act of command to demote you? For your Dreadnought plan?”, but that wasn’t Leia’s last official act of command. Right before the bridge explodes she orders The Raddus to stay out of range of the First Order’s barrage and to have maximum rear shields or something like that. I know it could be explained that Holdo just forgot, but the order that’s keeping everyone alive seems like a pretty massive point to forget.

That line was especially annoying. A good leader shouldn’t be passive aggressive.

It’s a great line. You’re supposed to be somewhat skeptical of Holdo at first. And Poe was trying to pull a fast one by introducing himself as commander.

I feel like there could have been a better way of doing that. Especially since we’re supposed to think she was right the whole way through by the end.

Sorry that passive aggressiveness doesn’t make me automatically hate a character.

Is that passive aggressiveness I detect?
