This looks like the wallpaper I had in my room when I was a baby.

I like the chicken McNugget meal with a large fry and a large Dr. Pepper, please.

I saw that movie once. It was terrible.
Fair enough. I think Indy as a character is alright in it. The crux of the problems are in the story, and the execution of said story. Though, the double/triple agent guy kind of made Indy look like a doofus, and I don’t think he’d ever get married.
wait, so could a very kind superman fan explain to stupid old me the different cuts available for the movies and all that?
Superman: The Movie (1978)
– Theatrical Cut
– Extended TV Cut adds about another hour or so to the movie.
– Directors Cut adds some scenes from the TV cut, but leaves most of it out.
Superman II (1980)
– Theatrical Cut/Lester Cut
– Richard Donner Cut
Then Superman III and Superman IV are… ignored.
Had a go at colour correcting this.
I didn’t really use anything as reference though, except for taking a glimpse at the Blu-ray remaster and seeing the walls being blue and not brown-ish; and also skin having a bit more of its own tone, rather than looking plain white. It was very quick, and just experimenting, so by no means what I’m saying it should look like lol.
Also, yeah, I did DNR, not because I’m preferring it over keeping the grain and such, but just to go ahead and add another layer to the experiment.
But yeah, what is the best reference source for colour, of this movie? And do you guys think it’ll be impossible to have as much dark detail visible as the blu-rays, with this scan?
edit:
So I only now managed to get it into my preferred colouring tool, and found a different way to CC it. Much more naturl-looking imo and it does involve less subjective adjustment:
Though, yes, still without reference
I like this. But maybe it would look better with a less aggressive boost to saturation?
What did you think about the different cuts?
There are a lot of movies out there that people enjoy but don’t necessarily love. Just seems weird that you have an attitude like “it shouldn’t even exist.”
I think my attitude is, “Why does it exist?”
It just seems like such a wasted opportunity.
kingdom of the crystal skull. i don’t get the hate.
I thought it was boring compared to its predecessors, and occasionally fell into moments of self-parody, but it’s not terrible or anything. Half-hearted is an apt description.
Not to mention it tries to be different, but it’s too scared to not be familiar, so it fails at doing the new stuff, and it fails at doing the old stuff.
by the way, i totally disagree here. Spielberg once said, and i quote “it’s a blood relative to the other three pictures”. so while i think the first part of your post is right, i disagree completely with the second.
Why do you disagree?
You didn’t like the original Superman, but went on to watch all of the sequels?
I guess the question becomes why it had to be made in the first place. No one seemed to want to make it,
It was in the works for two decades. There was an interest there for awhile. And they’re making another one.
Oh. I’m cautiously optimistic for Indy 5, but I’m not really sure it’ll be anything above merely decent.
and we didn’t enjoy the results.
You didn’t enjoy the results.
Well, sure, but no one ever says, “OH boy! I can’t wait to watch Kingdom of the Crystal Skull! It’s my favorite Indy movie!”
The range of reactions tend to top off at mild enjoyment, going toward indifference, and ending at vile rage. But no one ever seems to really love it.
Interstellar.
Great film, can’t believe it wasn’t mentioned first.
I agree, practical effects are not dead, they never were. In fact, I think we’re seeing a new renaissance of practical effects, as the limits of CGI are better understood.

what’s so ugly about it? i mean, sure, this
is pretty fucking gross, but i don’t see why it looks bad.
It just looks so drab and dull. Not to mention fake. And computer fake looks real fake. With how inspired the original films were visually, it just sucks.
I remember going to an Indiana Jones marathon back before the Blu-ray release, and the theater announced that they’d give out prizes at the end. Someone shouted, “Does that mean we have to watch Crystal Skull?” Much laughter was had. Sure, nothing can compare to Raiders, but when it can’t offer anything to make you want to even watch it, maybe there’s something about it that just doesn’t stack up.
I forgot Generations still used models. Digital compositing and some CGI was still used then, though. I was thinking we were going for movies that relied solely on practical effects. I know Total Recall used CGI too, but that was only for one sequence.
Oh, The Fly should be mentioned.
Return of the Jedi is pretty great. Total Recall?
not a fan of most Marvel movies then ?
They’re the movie equivalent to McDonalds. You enjoy it for what it is. Star Wars shouldn’t be that.
Love it or hate it, that’s just how movie franchises work now, they follow comic-rules.
And if they expect me to just deal with it, they can expect to lose my viewership, and money. Movies should work on their own, without setting up some other movie that exists to set-up five other movies.

Have you ever considered making it so that Luke simply hands Rey the lightsaber back (using reversed footage) and storms off? The way Luke tosses the lightsaber in the movie is obviously played off to be some sort of joke in a very serious moment.
I believe Ivan Ortega’s edit does this.
I don’t think a disliking system would be particularly productive. If someone disagrees with me, I’d rather they explain why rather than hitting a button. What good would that do?
I do like the like system, though.
Shouldn’t you leave a spot for Episode 9?!
I can’t recall having any sexy dreams.
My grandfather passed away last year. I never met my dad’s parents.
The Great Silence – Finally on Blu-ray. Finally in anamorphic widescreen. I’ve waited for this for a long time.
I can’t tell if that’s classic Sonic, or Modern Sonic. Never seen that artwork before.
EDIT: Oh, Sonic Spinball. The only Sonic game I had growing up. At least until high school, when someone gave me their copy of Sonic 1.
