Ever notice how one-dimensional all these old Fairy Tale characters are?
I thought that was part of the charm. It's when you start trying to modernize them with 21st century notions and ideology (or lack thereof) that they lose their appeal.

Example: the way Batman always seems to rise to the occasion on Justice League. As much as I like Batman, I can't get away from this nagging feeling that he would be more than a little dwarfed in light of some fo the interstellar threats the League faces.

Change this one line that kind of bugs me.
HAN: "Who're you?"
LEIA: "Someone who loves you."
Change that to
LEIA: "Take a guess, flyboy."
Or something like that.

And probably would have left the thing with Luke & Leia being twin siblings on the cutting room floor.

I disagree with the way the film is being handled (casting Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane, making the film a semi-sequel to the first two movies that starred the late Christopher Reeve, etc.) and feel that they don't deserve to have it be successful. I don't hate Superman, I hate the way they're doing this new movie. But maybe I'll be wrong, maybe that Brandon Routh guy will rise to the occasion, who knows...

I second that emotion.
Were you anti-"He-Man & The Masters of the Universe"? Some people viewed Thundercast as being essentially a knockoff of He-Man. Don't know why I'm asking...

Style can go a long way in making even a limited animation series (done on fours rather than twos) look superior. Recent examples of this include Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack and Clone Wars, which all share one common denominator: Genndy Tartakovsky.
It probably helped too that they didn't depict Batman and Superman as whiny little men-bitches who want to throw in the towel every time they get a paper cut or stub their toe or some other accident befalls them, which is what Peter Parker seemed to do almost every other episode after a while of the DIC-1994 cartoon. Angst can be fun when done right, but the '94 show made their angst too absurd and repetitive.
