I don't watch Smallville much so I can't really comment on the decision to bring in Supergirl.

I have no interest in seeing Indiana Jones 4 nor will I offer any support to hype this long delayed vanity project.

I will however gladly support "The Dark Knight" and "Iron Man". I wish Robert Downey Jr. the best of luck as Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Yet another starlet getting arrested
Time
Here's the good or not so good word -

The Associated Press is reporting that Lindsay Lohan was arrested a block away from the Santa Monica Police Department early this morning on two misdemeanor charges of suspicion of driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license, and two felony charges of possession of cocaine.
According to the AP, authorities received a call around 1:30 a.m. from the mother of the former personal assistant of Lohan who was traveling in a black Cadillac Escalade SUV. The mother reported that they were being chased by a white Denali SUV, apparently unaware that it was Lohan who was pursuing them. The personal assistant had quit her position with Lohan several hours before.

Police encountered both SUVs, and two people in a "heated debate," in the Santa Monica Civic Center parking lot, recognizing the driver of the Denali as Lohan. Lohan failed a standard field sobriety test (after reportedly refusing to take the Preliminary Alcohol Screening Device -- California's Breathalyzer -- used to determine alcohol levels in the bloodstream). According to the AP during pre-booking, cocaine was reportedly found in one of Lohan's pants pockets. A breath test was subsequently conducted revealing Lohan's blood alcohol to be between .12 percent and .13 percent. California's legal limit is 0.08 percent.

Just last week Lohan had turned herself into police to face drunk driving charges for a May 26th incident where she lost control of her Mercedes SL-65 and crashed into a curb on Sunset Boulevard. Lohan fled the scene, getting into a second car, which took her to a hospital in Century City for minor injuries, where police tracked her down. Her blood alcohol level was above the legal limit then as well and she still faces a hit-and-run misdemeanor charge in that case.

Lohan then spent most of June in Promises Malibu Alcohol and Drug Rehab Treatment Facility. She checked out less than two weeks ago on July 13th outfitted with an alcohol-monitoring bracelet. It was unclear whether Lohan was wearing her bracelet at the time of her arrest this morning.

The June stint at Promises was Lohan's second acknowledged visit to a drug and alcohol treatment center; the last took place in January.

Lohan was later released Tuesday morning on $25,000 bail.

Kind of makes you wonder: was there ever a time when starlets were better known for their music and not their habit of getting arrested?

He'd better be.

Now some news on the animated adaptation of DC: The New Frontier -

The New York Times today showed the first image from the upcoming direct to DVD adaptation of Darwyn Cooke's The New Frontier.

From the article:

One of the biggest challenges was paring down the story from just under 400 pages into a 70-minute film. The comic book version has a sprawling cast and multiple subplots, from a nearly 40-page sequence that depicts the fate of the Losers, a squad of soldiers from DC’s war comics, to following Hal Jordan’s path from reluctant fighter pilot in Korea to his discovery of the power ring that will turn him into Green Lantern. In between, Wonder Woman and Superman debate their own involvement in Southeast Asia; the Martian Manhunter arrives on Earth; and John Henry rises in Tennessee to combat the Ku Klux Klan.

But the process was not without its bumps. In the first three drafts, neither Wonder Woman nor Lois Lane, both significant in the comic, was in the film. “You have to pick your battles,” Mr. Cooke said. “I had to give up a lot of things that would make me weep, not because they need to be in the film but because I wanted to see them animated. But Lois and Wonder Woman had to be in.”

The 70 minute film is due for release in February of 2008, and will be previewed this coming week at the San Diego Comic-Con. Click on the link above for the full article.[/quote]

Transformers: The Movie
Time
I saw it today. Better than I thought, but too many humans and not enough of the Transformers themselves, and the only human worth paying attention to was -

Nuff said.

Seriously though, Megatron needed more screen time, just like the other Decepticons and Autobots. The CGI was top notch and the action set pieces were great, if a little too Matrix like for my tastes and the robot designs too manga-ish for my tastes.

What kills me though is that this film was budgeted at $150 million, unlike last year's July release Superman Returns with its plus $200 million budget, and Transformers has already made back more domestically in like two-three weeks than SR did in its entire domestic run.

Here's hoping that when they try yet another He-Man or do GI Joe, they'll do 'em right.

I heard they turned Kyle Rayner/Ion into the new Parallax. As someone who grew up with Kyle Rayner, I hate to see them do that to him. Fans didn't like it with Hal, what makes DC think fans will like it with Kyle?

Thanks everyone.

Well, that was the longest day, ever.

Still haven't come up with a name, although the missus likes Ava....mmm...not too sure on that. Still, it was about a week before we decided on a name for our son.

Oh well...back to baby for now!

Congrats HotRod.

Whatever you do, don't name the baby "Apple" or after any other form of food.

I just wish they weren't so manga-looking. And I'm not anti-manga by any means. Also, why is it they tried so hard to secure Peter Cullen (original voice of Optimus Prime) but rejected Frank Welker (original voice of Megatron) in favor of Hugo Weaving? Weaving is cool but c'mon, Welker's the one and only Megatron!

I read somewhere that they really wanted to use Welker, but his voice had aged and was no longer suitable for the voice acting in the movie where people would hear it under the crystal clear systems they now have in modern theaters. He does, however, voice Megatron in the video game version of Transformers which accompanies this movie.

And they weren't afraid that Cullen's voice had "aged" and was "no longer suitable" for voicing the character?

Transformers chick Megan Fox.

Wondered when she'd show up. The tatoos reallly put me off. I suppose that she could use a little meat on her bones. I now have a geek badge that none of you do: I saw the trailer for Transformers and missed her because I was examining the new designs. And I went to an art house theater and sat the credits of a vampire movie in Russian when I don't read Cyrillic. So there. I am a bigger geek that you all. MWA HAHAHAHA! I might as well just wear a T-shirt that says "I've never had sex!" Hell, yesterday at work, I chatted with a little kid about Spider-Man and Transformers, only to find out that my next customer was a gorgeous girl with emerald green eyes who was like a half-a foot taller than me and looked like she belonged on the cover of Cosmo or Maxim. She just stared at me like "So you've never had sex, have you?" and I was just like "Um, have you seen the Empire Strikes Back?" She left and the next customer was laughing his ass off and I was like "Why didn't you tell me Scarlett Johanson was in line!" I was funny as hell (Now. Not then.).

Megan Fox: "I have the libido of a 15-year old boy. I like sex. A lot."
Scarlett Johanson: "I don't think human beings are monogomus by nature. I'm not promiscuious, but I'm open minded about sex."

Hey, hope springs eternal for you guys, huh?

The more I look at that picture, the more Megan Fox starts to look like Lindsay Lohan.

Rachael Taylor, also starring in Transformers.
