That would suck.

I hate that my dad just had surgery on his hip and is going to be out of it for like a month. He's really out of it now. I guess I should take joy in seeing him so down after all those years of him dragging me out into 90 degree summer weather to help him with his outdoor projects (building decks, installing pools, ripping out pools, building fences, etc) but I find seeing him in his post-surgery state to be more disturbing than anything else. Can't wait for him to get back to normal.

I too never read the original graphic novel of V For Vendetta. Just went out and saw the film because it looked somewhat interesting, which it was, but I won't be buying the DVD any time soon. Thought Natalie Portman was kind of stiff in her performance.

And I still need to read the Hellboy books. I thought they were going to make an animated Hellboy series but nothing's happened with it yet.

Movie production updates for Terminator 4 And Star Trek XI

To be honest, my favorite era of Star Trek were films 2-4. I liked DS9 and TNG well enough, but Voyager never did much for me. The Next Generation films started off alright but after a while it felt like they turned Picard into Kirk, and while I like Kirk well enough, I'd rather Picard acted like Picard as opposed to Picard acting like Kirk. Never watched "Enterprise". Not sure this prequel thing about Kirk & Spock as teens or 20 somethings is gonna be all that good though.

Huh. I think that Dan is maturing into quite the young actor, myself.

I agree with you about Dan, Mike O. I have to admit I don't understand why people love Rupert Grint so much. Odds are Emma Watson will never be taken seriously as an actress, but that's just my thinking.

Grint hasn't really gotten the chance to do much, either. Columbus kind of reduced him to wierd facial expressions.

And they've sort of kept that in place even after Columbus left as director, presumably because this is now how the movie audiences see Ron and they don't want to change that perception. I can only assume they reduced Ron to the quote "weird facial expressions" because they thought little kids would find that funnier than the one-liners and quips Ron is better known for in the books. I don't find his weird facial expressions all that funny though, and I think in dumbing him down on film they kind of threw off the trio's chemistry, and to be honest, it feels like Ron's been getting dumber with each successive book, kind of like Homer Simpson.

But that's just me.

Clark should have given his kid the Kryptonian name Van-El, and Alan Moore given props for it.

Alan Moore will not allow his name to associated with any future filmed adaptaitons of his work, and does not want his work to be filmed in the first place.

Well, 'For The Man Who Has Everything' was already adapted as an episode of Justice League Unlimted, but that's besides the point. Just calling the child Van-El wouldn't be adapting Moore's work since the original Van-El was just a fantasy in Clark's mind. But it's probably the Kryptonian name he would have actually given his child had he been real. If Moore didn't want his name on it, then whatever.

The JLU adaptation of "For the Man Who Has Everything" was one of my favorite episodes from the JLU run (good show but I liked it better when it was just the seven heroes with the two-parters). Superman is so cool when he's pissed.

This thread should be renamed the "Development Hell" thread. Indie 4, Terminator 4, the new Jurassic Park, The Hobbit, so many movies that will probably never see the light of day.

Most of which I certainly hope never see the light of day - except for the Hobbit. I wouldn't mind a well done Hobbit adaptation.

I wouldn't mind a well-done steak, either.

Who wouldn't like a well-done steak? (besides the vegetarians of course)

I mean I understand having a certain dissatisfaction with aspects of the movie... it just seems like you're extremely harsh on it.

Isn't he allowed to have that opinion? I mean, shouldn't we be able to be extremely harse on something that does not affect anybodies well-being? As long as he isn't trying to force his opinion onto you, I see no reason why he can't be extremely harsh.
