Looking forward to Spider-Man 3, but in a way I'm getting tired of the series already. I hate the fact that they seem to have postponed the resolution of the Harry Osborne storyline. They are dragging that out too long and need to resolve it. Also not sure how Venom will work out, but I have hope that it will be good.

I know how you feel. Bringing in Venom and Sandman just seems desperate, and hiring Topher "That 70s Show" Grace as Venom does not sit well with me.

I hate this recent holier than thou action by George Lucas -

George Lucas chastised the nation's universities for not treating the study of film in the same way they do other academic disciplines such as law, medicine, journalism, and architecture. "It just isn't thought of in the same breath, which is for me a sacrilege," Lucas said at a groundbreaking ceremony at USC where a 137,000-square-foot complex is being constructed to house the university's film school -- a complex made possible by Lucas's $175-million gift to the university. Lucas, who produced his first films as an undergraduate of the university in the mid-'60s, said, "When I came here I didn't have a clue about how to make movies, anything -- I didn't even watch movies. I was a real novice." Today's (Thursday) Los Angeles Times said that Lucas is treating the new facility "much like one of his cinematic productions," working with Urban Design Group of Dallas on the design of the buildings -- even "on such minute aspects as the detailing on the archways."

I like the quote, actually. He has a really good point. And as a theatre major, I feel the same way.

Too bad Lucas doesn't have an iota of talent, vision or integrity as a filmmaker, just an army of yes-men.

Lucasfilm Exiting Movie Business?

If he had stayed on that track we could have expected to see great things from him. Didn't he say something about going on to do his artsy, experimential films after ROTS was finally finished? I guess that is down the crapper again. Probably for the best.

Lucas has been saying he wants to do something experimental or "artsy" every since ROTJ wrapped back in 1983, and he still hasn't done anything. If Lucasfilm does exit the film business, I say good riddance to their bad rubbish.

Another death, 10/06/2006 -

Cleopatra Jones actress Tamara Dobson died in Baltimore, Maryland, on Monday. She was 59. According to Dobson's brother, she died from complications arising from multiple sclerosis and pneumonia. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis six years ago. Dobson found success as a professional model in the early 1970s before making her movie debut in 1972's Fuzz. But she will always be best remembered for her role as Cleopatra Jones in the 1973 movie. The character was the inspiration behind Beyonce Knowles turn as Foxxy Cleopatra in 2002's Austin Powers In Goldmember.

Rest in Peace, Miss Dobson.

Very true it seems -

Broadway veteran Robert Earl Jones has died at the age of 96. The actor, whose son James Earl Jones found fame voicing Darth Vader in the Star Wars movies, passed away at the Lillian Booth Actors' Home in New Jersey earlier this month. Jones starred as boxing champion Joe Louis in Spirit Of Youth among other films and Broadway productions. However, his career was briefly interrupted in the 1950s when he was blacklisted for refusing to testify before the House Of Un-American Activities Committee. He later had roles in Odds Against Tomorrow, Wild River, The Sting and Witness, as well as a string of stage parts alongside his son. He is survived by James Earl Jones, another son Matthew Earl Jones and a grandson.

IMDB reported a string of deaths today, 9/19/2006 -

Former child star Pablo Santos has been killed in a plane crash in central Mexico. The teenager was on his way to Acapulco with friends when their private aircraft crashed during an emergency landing in Toluca, near Mexico City on Friday. Another passenger was also killed while everyone else on board was hospitalized. Survivor Diego Marcos has told local newspaper El Norte that he fears the plane crashed because it was overloaded. He explains the Piper Malibu craft was only supposed to carry six people, but he and his friends persuaded the pilot to take on an extra passenger. Santos, 19, appeared on TV shows Law & Order and American Family and he played the son of a Mexican family in Greetings From Tucson.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay's bodybuilder father Mickey Hargitay has died after a lengthy illness. He was 80. The Hungarian strongman, who was married to Jayne Mansfield, died last Thursday. Hargitay was in hospital being treated for a mystery illness when his daughter gave birth to her first child in June. The actress had to dash from a scheduled appearance on America's The Tonight Show earlier this summer to be by her father's bedside, and she broke down in tears as she paid tribute to him when she won her first Emmy Award in August. She told reporters the best thing about winning an Emmy was "that my dad was gonna be really happy." Born Miklos Hargitay in 1926, the bodybuilder fled his native Hungary in 1947 to escape the compulsory Soviet military draft. Hargitay won the Mr. Universe bodybuilding title in 1955 and made his mark as a movie star in The Loves Of Hercules after appearing in Mae West's New York revue. Before gaining fame, he worked as a carpenter and plumber, and famously remodeled the Pink Palace - the Hollywood home he shared with Mariska's mother Mansfield.

Patricia Kennedy Lawford, the former wife of Rat Pack playboy Peter Lawford, died at her home in New York on Sunday. She was 82. The sister of assassinated Us President John F. Kennedy died from complications from pneumonia. Kennedy Lawford was a Hollywood it girl in the 1940s and 1950s and wed British actor Lawford in 1954. In a statement, her brother, Massachusetts Democratic Senator Edward Kennedy, writes, "My sister Pat is irreplaceable. Everyone who knew Pat adored her. She was admired for her great style, for her love and support of the arts, her wit and generosity."

May they all rest in peace.

I've been wondering that question all my life.

I hate that YouTube isn't working properly.

Flight Of The Dragons was great and few seem to remember that one.

I've already read the first two Prydain books thanks to the Disney movie take on it. Must now find the 3rd.

I remember Flight of Dragons. Great flick.
