Whoes The Better Director Romero Or Lucas?

Romero....hands down.

Romero put some intelligence into those movies. They actually "say" something. Most horror movies are mindless and just wants to scare you. That's fine and all. Got no problem with that at all, but I like that he put something deep in there.

Lucas is a great storyteller, but not a great filmmaker. He gets by, I think. ESB was so good cuz other people who were better filmmakers were making it. He just directed the whole thing from a story point of view....that's his strength....managing everything behind the scenes.

Romero writes and directs his stuff. He also takes suggestions from his cast and crew. He's very open minded. That line in Day Of The Dead spoken by Rhodes as he's getting eaten by the zombies...the actor came up with that, not Romero.

Lucas doesn't work like that....he's said so himself, "It's all in the script." That points to a bit of a control freak with an ego.

Definitely.

Yeah, a little more sarcasm from Spider-Man would be nice. They tend to overplay the woe-is-me thing.

True, but the guy's life does kinda suck.

Which is why he's sarcastic - using sarcasm as a defense mechanism against all the things in his life that suck.

A Spider-Man's Dawson's Creek... that thought disgusts me.

Bryce Dallas Howard looks awful with blonde hair.

Peter's Creek. That ought to be on the same night as Harry Potter and the Azkaban Redemption. I wonder if there is anyone who actually found that amusing?

I found it somewhat amusing.

Don't know if its true or not, but I've heard it from several places.
As for Spider-Man III, I'm afraid that its going to end up like Superman III and Batman Forever: it will do well at the boxoffice, but it won't be that good of a film, and won't be remembered well. Personally, I've gotten tired of the Spider-Man movie series, and the endless Peter Parker's life sucks, and giving Harry Osborne more and more reasons to hate Spider-Man with no resolution in sight. Also, it seems like, especially in Spider-man 2, that the villians are minor characters to the drama, and very little action, which every comic book movie needs. I think that they wasted Doctor Octopus, and its too bad, because he was a great villian, and Alfred Molina did a great job in it.

I thought Superman III was a box office failure opposite Return of the Jedi.

If the movies have Spider-Man ending up with Gwen Stacy - a character who DIED in the friggin' comics - that would really suck.

Wow, that was harsh. I mean, he is the progenitor of all things Star Wars; he used to be a great filmmaker.

Used to be. Past tense.

I don't see how you can just lose such a talent. Maybe you can get distracted and make mistkaes, but to suddenly become a bad filmmaker?

Well that's what happened with Lucas.

I hate mid terms.

Am I the only one who thinks that that film is mind-bogglingly overrated trash without any redeeming value at all whatsoever?

Aren't pretty much all slasher films overrated trash without any redeeming value at all whatsoever?

So evidently, there will be no SR sequel?

I hope not.

You hope that there will be or won't be?

I hope there will NOT be a sequel to the lifeless, heartless piece of junk that was Superman Returns.

Didn't like it, huh? May I ask why?

Only if you want me to open up a can of worms so massive it would destroy the universe.

Just go back a few pages, you'll find my rants.

Let us not forget his battle with Elfman.

He's fighting with Elfman? When did this start?

I don't know, on the set apparently. They got into a huge shouting match and had to be pulled apart, and now Christopher Young is doing the music. John Dykstra also left and left VFX to his protege Scott Stockdyke (who worked on the previous two films), although I imagine he just wanted to work on another project for SPI.

That sucks.
