Maybe something about the work of the original motion control pioneers deserving to be seen and to not have their revolutionary accomplishments be buried.

I think my draft a couple posts above generally captured that need - the need to preserve such technological and creative innovations. 😃

The “Film is a product of its time” line from Gary Kurtz also captures that need pretty good.

4(as opposed to 3) audio tracks for the original theatrical run of Star Wars?
Time

Yery interesting! Thats leads me to the question which one of these tracks were shipped for the audio dubbing in foreign countries? The German Dubbing for example featured the “Close the blast doors!” line and a music cue during the Dianoga attack from the get-go. (The Dianoga music was later reused for the extended Mos Eisley scene in the ANH Special Edition.)

George Lucas - your opinions of him? a general discussion thread
Time

I wonder if Lucas created the PT primarily to keep LucasFilm alive? Its artistic outcome would not have been important as long as it generates money. Back in the 80s he also saw ESB & ROTJ as mere vehicles to fund his elaborate Skywalker Ranch. Somewhere between ANH & ESB the filmmaker disappeared and the businessman took over. Didn’t he say during infamous “White Slavers” interview with Charlie Rose that he wanted to do the ST himself and that he had to care about his employees? Maybe it was easier to sell LucasFilm than to stem another trilogy himself…

Lets at least wait until 9:41 PM EST 😉

And then until May 25 😃

Nah, let’s freeze ourselves till 2077

And then we have to battle a bunch of evolved otters for the last surviving copy of the OOT? 😉

George Lucas will show up in his own homemade General Grievous lifesupport suit with four actual lightsabers:

“Now i will fulfill my ‘final’ cut!”

The Jedi Starfighter proves that Lucas designed the movie BEFORE he finished the script.

(AOTC)
“Oh hey Doug Chiang, paint an edgy starfighter for the Jedi that resembles an OT Stardestroyer.”

[Months later]
“Oh damn, i need an R2 droid for Ewan so that he can deliver some explanatory dialogue on his way to Kamino … Doug, put the R2 droid somewhere … here. Looks good to me.”

(ROTS)
“Hey Doug, this time paint an edgy starfighter for the Jedi that resembles the illegitimate child of a Tie-Fighter and a Stardestroyer. And hey, i need R2 to eject somehow on General Grievous’ ship. Come up with a lazy solution that will look good to me.”

[Months later]
“Oh damn, how are Anakin & Obi-Wan supposed to pilot these things properly when those extended wings block their view left and right? Pffh, i don’t care … looks good to me.”

  1. edgy doesn’t mean what you seem to think it means
  2. doesn’t your visibility complaint apply to tie fighters even moreso?
  3. is Luke’s expository dialogue to R2 on his way to Dagobah somehow different?
  1. Lucas himself used the word ‘edgy’ during the specific AOTC webdoc that shows the Jedi Starfighter design.

  2. No. When i played the LucasArts PC game TIE-FIGHTER there was nothing blocking my view.

  3. No. But the design of the X-Wing (hence the position of the R2 droid) was done with the script IN MIND - the design of the Jedi Starfighter wasn’t.

Red Tails
Time

I am German and when i saw the ‘Red Tails’ i was shocked & amused likewise how horrible inaccurate the spoken german was. It is ten times worse than the faulty DIE HARD german (Hans Gruber: “Schieß den Fenster!”). And the portrayal of the German villain (the one with the scar) - “The American pilots are African!”/“Die, you African fool!” - dear god, even for a ‘movie Nazi’ incredible dumb & stupid.

If only she had had lines and been voiced by Zelda Rubinstein. . . .

Did Lucasfilm ever take legal action against ebay sellers of the ld-to-dvd preservations pre-GOUT?

Not legal action as far as i know, but rather a legal ‘countermeasure’: the 2006 GOUT DVDs.

Maybe in the future LucasFilm will consider such asimilar ‘countermeasure’ against the Despecialized Editions … by releasing the Theatrical Cuts?

This Trump tweet made me laugh.

Eventually, but at a later date so we can get started early, Mexico will be paying, in some form, for the badly needed border wall.

God bless Donald Trump.
I couldn’t believe it when he won.
My first time voting and I pick the winner!
Just awesome.

I am so shocked.

So what do you like better, his shitty treatment of women or his shitty treatment of non-whites? My guess, based entirely on your posts here, is that you can’t decide because you like both of those.

What about my posts here other than my last one gave you that impression?

The fact that you’re making them.

No really, let’s stop being funny for a sec.

Who’s being funny?

You, my good friend. Attempting to be funny, at least.
