CANADA DAY
Time
Canada Day marks the signing of the British North America Act, a document creating the Dominion of Canada and essentially serving as the country's first constitution, on 1 July 1867. Prior to the so-called 'repatriation' of the Constitution in 1982, it was known as Dominion Day. I say so-called, because the repatriation introduced the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which is what made it so easy to steamroller same-sex marriage through Parliament and into law recently. I will say nothing further on the subject, since it only brings back nightmares of my first year in law school.

I don't know if its the whole TomKat thing, the decline in quality of Spielberg's work in recent years (I'm sorry, but The Terminal was painful), or what, but I have absolutely NO desire to see this. One thing that irks me even more is that Spielberg and Janusz Kaminski opted to shoot the movie flat. Huge mistake if you're going to shoot an epic and spend over $120 million on it.

Quick grammatical note: "Dis" is NY slang for "disrespect". Disrespect is a noun, and therefore should not be used as a verb.

Disrespect is both a noun and a verb, being a derivation of the word respect, which is also a noun and a verb. Examples:

You showed that old man a great deal of disrespect.

I disrespected your position, and I am sorry.

See? It's awkward, but it does work. BTW, my dad was an English major in university.
