THE ALL NEW PSYCHO REVIEW HAS MOVED

But I have read stuff on the net that says the aspect ratios used in the 1st special edition were aproved by Kubrick himself.

They were... at the time. Kubrick was very unhappy with how his films wound up looking on video, which is why post-2001, he refused to shoot anything in scope aspect ratios, instead shooting flat and insisting that all video transfers be done open matte. If you watch the so-called multi-aspect ratio version of Dr. Strangelove, it becomes very obvious that this was not the director's true intention, as the composition of some shots in that version has a tendency to take you out of the moviegoing experience. Kubrick was simply doing what he thought was best when it came to transferring his films to an inferior format.

A Deep, Abiding Emptiness

Speaking from experience, start small and find out what you're good at. Even if it's as simple as helping a buddy move out of his home, you'll be surprised how good helping others makes you feel.
You talked about opening a shelter. Try volunteering at one first and see if you're cut out for it.
I know I get frustrated when I don't have the time to help out others, and having moved twice in the last 3 years, I don't have the same sense of community I used to have, but I'm working on it.
I have a friend who volunteers at a pro bono legal clinic twice a month. When I'm called to the bar, I'm definitely going to give that a shot.

Very true. There have been numerous criminal cases that have been thrown out based on invasion of the body. I remember one where a doctor provided a blood sample to the police of a drunk driver. We can say that this is all noble and getting a drunk driver off the road, but consider the implications of allowing this type of evidence: it means that a doctor can use a part of your body to incriminate you by obtaining that part for another purpose. The charges were dropped for that very reason.

What I am saying is simply this: when it comes to your own body, you should have the final say on how parts of your body are to be used. No one should be compelled to give a sample for the "greater good", and laws should not be redrafted to allow this kind of invasion.

I'm with Bossk on this one, in both respects. If we deprive this one individual of his right to privacy in his own body, we open a Pandora's box of ethical "excuses" to invade the privacy in the body.
This guy will eventually die of HIV related complications, but if he's not forthcoming, don't hold a gun to his head just because he's managing it better than most.

Terrible songs that you secretly like... (aka the all-too-brief OT.com boyband thread)
Time
Bee Gees, ABBA and ELO do not deserve to be on this list. These bands were staffed by some of the finest pop tunesmiths of the latter half of the 20th century.

Back on topic (after stepping off the soapbox): here's a bad song everyone can agree on and still love

(wait for it)

"Da Da Da" by Trio.

Admit it; it's stupid, but it sticks in your head. And how about "Mr. Roboto" by Styx?
