I'm amazed that Johnny Depp got the nod for PotK. Not that it's a bad performance, but the nomination seems so uncharacteristic for the Academy.

I picked option #1 because my two favourite films of the year (Kill Bill Vol I and Dirty Pretty Things) didn't make the list. I can understand the snub for Kill Bill, but Dirty Pretty Things really deserved Academy recognition.

I respect and appreciate her as an actress; it's just that I can't picture her as a sex symbol. I have a psychological barrier there.

Agreed. Also Fred Krueger in the 1st A Nightmare on Elm Street, before he became the caricature that is Freddy. Ronny Yu captured some of that in the opening of Freddy vs. Jason, but not enough.

After a year of arguing the same-sex marriage issue in law school, anything gay-oriented makes me run screaming in the opposite direction. It's not that I'm homophobic; I'm just sick of seeing such a focus on it. As one columnist put it, in 100 years, homosexuality has gone from being "the love that dare not speak its name" to the love that just won't shut the f@#k up.

Sweet. No, The Reagans aired on Showtime, which is owned by Viacom; Bravo is owned by NBC, which is why both air Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, a show I both loathe and detest.

Don't forget that CBS also caved to pressure not to air its less-than-complimentary miniseries on the Reagans, instead relegating it to cable hell on Showtime.
