Info: 'South Park' - episode 201 - Speech Preservation...
Time

I have the entire episode with uncut audio, no raw audio bleeps. The video however still has censored boxes over Muhammad and i'm gonna take a guess that South Park Studios did this as an in-joke.

I'm as anti-censorship as any one person can be but after hearing the speech at the end, i'm not surprised Comedy Central censored it, in fact i'm surprised they allowed this to air at all.

EDIT: The commentary on the DVD & Blu-Ray is censored too, I bet we'll never get that in uncensored form.

What's with all the edge enhancement they're using, I thought these movies we're already shot on 1080p cameras?

Some earlier screenshots involved doing all my work at 4K, which ended up making the 1080p outputs a tad too sharp.

I have since then worked a proper 1080p workflow, as I am using real film scans to add the grain.  So you won't see weird over sharpness or over chromatic-aberrated footage.  All examples are not final of course.

I mean in the source material for your edits, every single shot has horrible haloing, which since this is Lucasfilm i'm gonna take a rough guess and assume they fucked it up.

Either way, your work is great and actually makes this look more like a real film.

My only question is when do we properly remake Episodes I, II, and III?

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/forum.cfm/Star-Wars-Fan-Edits/forum/9/

I've seen all the re-edits and dub ideas for them. I'm talking about complete refilming using no original scenes. Strike Hayden whatever his last name is from the record. One can dream.

Easily the most ridiculous idea i've seen on this forum.

Therefore it needs to happen.

I am confused as to why people would want A New Hope in the crawl. This project was to restore the film to as close as possible to what was seen in 1977. "A New Hope" wasn't there and shouldn't be, IMO. Adding it to Harmy's masterpiece seems counter-productive to the original goal.

I have OCD I am George Lucas

Hey! That's not nice to those of us who actually have OCD.

George doesn't have OCD. He's just a dick.

Wasn't a shot at you OCD folk, no worries.

Things (especially like trilogy box sets and that) not being uniform bothers me so much, like if I didn't use the same template for my ANH, ESB & ROTJ covers it would piss me off, and well, one film not having an Episode number & sub-title? Yeah I don't think I can handle that either.

Error or not, you'll notice they specifically gave that accident a pronounced bonking sound effect.  In short, they embraced the messed up take.  Why they'd embrace a simple timing muck up on the opening of the movie, though, I have no idea.

Not sure why you'd think ESB and ROTJ would have musical cue issues, it only occurred in original Star Wars because they later added in the episode number and title, the sequels always had episode numbers and titles... and they didn't flyover Tatooine...

I dunno why but i thought ESB started with a reveal of Hoth in the same way as Tatooine, anyway...

i've never liked the incorrect cue and it's totally lazy of Lucasfilm to never go back and fix this.

I both love it and hate it.  I treat it kinda like the stormtrooper headbonk.  Every time I see it, I think [in director voice]: "Early! Tatooine, listen for your cue! Now go back into the starfield and wait for it this time!"

The stormtrooper banging his head does get a laugh out of me tbh (something i'm surprised exists in the 2004 SE), but an error that seems so easy to fix and still existing to this day, i'm not too hot on.

Doesn't the incorrect musical cue issue also pop up in ESB & ROTJ?

If I did the '81 crawl with the incorrect musical cue, you'd have extra frames and then the audio would have to be re-synced to the entire movie.

Aren't the lengths of the '77 and '81 crawl/flyovers the same (the frames are different internally, but they start and stop at the same place)? So if you pasted over the '81 crawl/flyover with the existing audio, the audio glitch would "just happen" exactly correctly?

EDIT: Harmy beat me to it. And yes, the framecounts are different if you just do the crawl, but you'll find you have to do the whole crawl/flyover to do it right, and then they line up nicely.

Ah yeah you're right, comparing the BD (not '81 but still) and DeEd. The thing is, I might actually have a go at this once i get the 1982 LD rip, but for my own personal copy i'm actually gonna have the flyover correctly synced, i've never liked the incorrect cue and it's totally lazy of Lucasfilm to never go back and fix this.

In response to Gogogadget, if you can do that and make it seamless with no loss of any quality, I would adore that.

If Harmy has no issues with me using pieces of DE (namely the logos, starfield & fly-over) then I will upload it to MySpleen for you if/when it's finished, but i'm not going through the trouble of making a 100% accurate crawl to Star Wars '81, with correct speed and that, just the Episode title, text crawl and fly-over with Tattooine musical cues present and correct.
