4 5 (3 R1) 6 7
4 5 (3 R1) 6 7
I can ignore them but they ruined the OT
Thank goodness then for TFA and R1, which bolster both trilogies, but the OT in particular - especially the mysticism surrounding the Force which has been rebooted away from bloody midichxxxxans!
I don’t mind the prequels, but given the quality of TFA and R1, they’re surely easier to ignore now than ever…
Further info from Hidalgo’s Twitter:
Someone asked him if George made 4K versions of 5, 6 & 1. His reply: “@Sora96 @RealCGallant @druzod1012 No one’s said anything about those, so I’m not gonna be one to do it.”
Hidalgo also says that the Reliance 4K cut that Edwards watched dated from 2012 in reply to a comment that Edwards made it seem like it was new: “@RealCGallant @druzod1012 Yeah. 2012.”
Learnings:
Sometimes I think hidalgo gets too far into conversations he shouldn’t and tells a lie or half truth to get out.
I’m really hoping Pablo lied.
He doesn’t need to lie, it might well be the truth that the Edwards 4K print in 2014 was a Reliance Lucas SE. But that doesn’t mean that there’s not a subsequent 4K OOT restoration.
Comfirmed as Stanton - by JAT himself!
So sad - MTFBWY Carrie and family.
Keep fighting Carrie…
Every time I see someone complain about how safe TFA was, and then I think of all the shit Disney got for a female lead, a black co-lead, and a Hispanic co-co-lead, when I think of the film killing off Han, when I think of the way the film tore up the ending of Jedi and tore up Han and Leia’s relationship (both in good, realistic ways), the way that Luke didn’t appear until the last scene…I have to laugh my ass off at that person.
THIS.
Wasn’t the news not that they were pulling away from saga movies, but simply that there’s a big meeting at Lucasfilm early in the new year to plot out the next several years worth of films?
I’m sure I heard that on Rebel Force Radio’s recent interview with Anthony Breznican.
<Laughing!>
For some of us, Return Of The Jedi is ‘our’ film just as Star Wars is Anchorhead’s; I was taken to see it upon its original run as a five year old, so its childishness was a positive.
Even thirty years later, I can’t quite let it go.
The problem is the version of Yub Nub on the soundtrack is the terrible version with overdubs of annoying Ewoks. The version actually used in the film is far superior, but can only be found on the old pre-SE Anthology CD set from th early 90s.
That 1993 set is fantastic; I treasure my copy.
By the way, aren’t the recently released LP based on the original LP ? “Ewok Celebration and Finale”, is it the 1983 cue or the 1997 one ?
If the digital releases are the same sources as the new LPs, I have reason to believe that it is the '83 cue.
Vinyl and digital were the original i.e. Ewok Celebration & Lapti Nek, the CDs were SE i.e. Victory Celebration & Jedi Rocks.
Terrific trailer!
So to summarise the sources:
Disney / LFL met with Verta on Legacy
Disney / LFL requested LoC copies
John Landis said George told him trilogy was coming
Poster on Steve Hoffman ‘TheHermit’ has a source indicating they’re coming and were due prior to TFA
And just for fun:
Anything else?
Probably posted elsewhere and if so I apologise, but some interesting info on Steve Hoffman forums by The Hermit:

You can’t handle the truth!
One of those modern LOLs to anyone who thinks Lucasfilm test screens Star Wars movies…
Return of the Jedi, cinema, young kid, 1984 (not a typo).
Magic.
We are COOLER than the masses for re-branding TODAY as Star Wars Day!
It is a rebellion and we REBEL!
But the colours in 2004…
In Kasdan we trust…
Kinda disappointing that there was no #Chewscript post on May 4th.
I’m wondering now if that ‘special announcement’ thing is just “i’m playing Chewie in the Han Solo movie”?
Which to fair to Peter, actually is a big announcement for him and the character…
Quite correct - Dominik Diamond was the host.
I’ve been after a copy for a while so hopefully somebody has it…
